I used the 100 lb. Grow bags from Amazon boy did I get potatoes last year. I love them grow bags. I used straight compost to grow mine. It worked great.
I always plant my potatoes that have sprouted. We eat so little of potatoes they always get chits, I cut them off, let them dry and them put them in a paper bag with the top opened and wait for planting time. I get potatoes too. Thanks for giving God the credit for the food you received.
I enjoyed y'all's video so much! Your enthusiasm and her laughter just made me smile throughout this entire video. I love that you are so grateful for your harvest. Well done! Subbed!
I planted 2 idaho potatoes that were sprouting in the house, so I buried them. I can't wait to finally harvest mine. I am so tired of seeing potatoes at over $5/bag at the store. I so want to start having a harvest I can keep frozen or stored up so I can keep fries and pot roast fixins in storage for when I need them most. Time to start canning mine when I get that harvest. Ooo, it is gonna be the best year for me yet!
First time here. I'm so exited for you i can feel the Joy 😊 i just started my first ones. Can't wait to see what happens. Congratulations God bless you and keep up the good fight of faith ❤️🙏
Yes....a 2 lb tater! 🙃 Dreams DO come true! Y'all should be thrilled. That was a great harvest. I love little ones you don't have to bother with cutting up, too. There was a little of everything going on. ♥️🙏
seeing you be upset about the noodles but then immediately going to improve them is amazing and inspiring to me! i would've given up but you didn't and i really respect that! I love your videos. And it's an honor to have you visit our channel, we can discuss more about our experiences in harvesting and building farms.
You are SO right - the Lord will encourage you and inspire you - lead you to information or products or teachers that will make you have a successful harvest. And your gratitude is contagious - I became as excited as you were. Good job.
New to your channel and ,new to plantings. I Live in Bakersfield, California I have good Summers, since looking at your harvest I have hope, yes God is good thank you so much
What a great video this was awesome! I'm living in texas and trying to be more self sufficient for my family and starting to grow a large garden in the backyard. I love how down to earth you guys are and look forward to more videos!
Last year, I waited too late to get potato starts. So I used organic potatoes from the store. They were awful. Hard as rocks and tasted strange. This year I grabbed the starter bags immediately at Lowes. Planting this weekend
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm a first year gardener and am doing it all in containers because we don't have good soil where we are. Started strong, but bugs/mites and soil issues have been an issue that is rather discouraging and also not knowing what to do or how to fix it because I'm so new to it. All I've been getting harvest wise is enough for a little snack. 😕 Doing my best to learn and I appreciate your encouragement to keep at it and just make adjustments each year. God bless y'all.
Great Video. I love the energy and excitement from both of y'all. I know exactly what you mean about being excited and worried at the same time because you can't see what is happening under the soil. I've been growing potatoes for about 3 years. Every year I try to find a way to grow more. I lost my seed potatoes when the power went out for 30 hours last year and had to buy organic and had a decent haul this year. Saved lots of seed potatoes for next year. Grew 3 different kinds. I find that the larger the container the better my results. I didn't have good luck with a garbage can but I didn't know you had to use a certain kind of potato. Thanks for the info.
It is truly a delight to see your enthusiasm and joy. I haven't had the best of luck with my container taters. I am excited to keep on keepin' on. God Bless all y'all.
You have enough to sell to a local restaurant.... Impressive . If I was a restaurant I would like to use locally sourced organic from small farmers like you
Had my russets in since mid april, and I'll leave them until the green wants to die off so we can get the biggest potatoes possible. This year is only a test, I have a tree size pot 100 gallon I think, its almost at may waste and the width is about the size of a semi truck tire so it'll do. I call it my chip barrel because on the outer edges are 4 russian garlic's that I shoved in hoping to use one for a garlic aioli for fries. God guides us for sure friend, many blessing for this channel.
I grow my potatoes in cardboard moving boxes. I run 2 strips of duct tape around them to help them hold up. Then just cut open and there you go! They last just long enough.
Jason and Angela, the next time you go to the grocery store try to pick up a couple of their canvas grocery bags to plant in. They are generally about 3 to 5 gallons depending on the store.. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm planting purple Majesty seed potatoes that I bought. I'll keep you posted on how they grow. I'm going to grow them starting mid September to see if I can get a harvest before the cold weather gets here in Central Florida.
I have yet to ever have a problem planting potatos or any fruit or vegetables in Florida at any time in the year. Any time is a good time in FLA. That is a perk we in the south get. Peace
any potatoes that shoot in my pantry i plant,,, year round, where we are you can do that so i do... not waste here. And i would definitely put more holes in your totes, the soil is very wet,. well done i say!
The think about digging or harvesting from a container is like a treasure hunt you never know what you'll find so great good job!! But I have to ask what type of soil you used?
I like your enthusiaim, I do believe in the ill do better next year and keep on trying. I did towers last year and have very little yield. I will do bags and buckets this year.
I'm using chicken and dog feed sacks and five gallon buckets. I only have a small plot in the ground. We'll see how it goes. Our big crop we plant at my dad's and sisters because they have the tractors 😂
Good job man. I have my allotment filled with mostly fruit trees and bushes. So i will be working with containers in between for my veggies. For ppl wondering why we dont plant in the soil directly bc its the cheapest option. Investing in containers is a future investment plus we harvest more from them from a seed than soil(like you mentioned the dirt can be re used aswell).
@@artofcreationhomestead and i really appreciate the help about taters in 5 gal buckets, i dont have much room and didnt think i could grow them. I have to tell u,... it took about 9 days for the sprouts to poke through😆 at first i thought ...ruhroh! But, just like u said..here they come😁 thanks again so much.....and of course i asked GOD To bless it....and everything i planted this year is the best in ive ever had!! And that goes back 9 years. 👍👍👍
If you use the almanac and go by the signs, plant your potatoes when the signs are in the knee or the calf. Your potatoes will be mostly round or oblong.
ooo we did grow oue potatoes in pots but now we have more room we grow them in deep mulch! tghey work amazingly in pots but deep mulch is out second favourite way of harvesting, as its so easy in pots. lol however, deep mulch allows better water retention and is soooo much cheaper than bying compost lol
Hey Jason I got a good idea for you want to really make the art of homestead garney look at the plant and which ones grow the kind of colors that they grow and make like a like a spiritual garden as it would be like when Adam and Eve
I love this. This is my first time of container gardening. I'm 71 and live in a townhouse. I'm praying for this to happen for me!❤
I used the 100 lb. Grow bags from Amazon boy did I get potatoes last year. I love them grow bags. I used straight compost to grow mine. It worked great.
Howdy partner, i planted some of mine in pure Mr. Hanky this year. We are expecting a top harvest. 🤞🏽
I hear and know the joy in growing your own food.God is good🙏
Hillbillies are not bad after all. Lets thank the Lord for giving us this abundance.!

I started my first veggi garden last year, I was soooo happy when I got my first tomato. This year I am planting potatoes and onions. Wish me luck!

Enjoyed your passion for growing and your faith in the Lord for the increase!
If you have never eaten homegrown potatoes you don’t know what you are missing…..light years better than store bought…
