I just couldn’t show it all in one video so this is going to be a two-parter! In this video, I’ll take you all through building one and two and show off some reptiles we just don’t see in the US and Canada! I was also asked to be on the jury for the Quality Ball Python Contest and wait until you see who won!

I really appreciate that you always share the prices. I'm just starting with reptiles and seeing average price points in different locations is very helpful.
Glad to hear that
Good on you for raising the awareness of the San Francisco garter!
Oh my God I bought that garter snake in the end of this expo! Dav Kaufman probably held my snake. So awesome!
Nice! Very jealous you got him. I'd love to work with them here in the states.
dont California the usa
I was 100% sure you would have enjoyed our Italian fair, I hope you will able to share with the mass also the relaxed atmosphere and the hospitality of both exhibitors and organization. Verona Reptile Expo started like a family size Expo and with dedication and effort it has become one of the biggest and most appreciated fairs in Europe. Hamm is still hamm but if you want to visit a great fair with an easy going and friendly atmosphere Verona has to be your choice. I felt honoured to meet you in person, you are such a great source of inspiration for all of us!
Thank you Andrea! I agree and I'm very glad I was there! It was nice to meet you too!
I was there, i saw you and i thought “no way he’s him “ 😭
Lol! That was me.
Why didn't you go and say hi?
As beautiful as the pied is, I agree with the albino pick. I’d love to have him! Who am I kidding, I’d love all of them!
You and me both!
Yeah that Phantom Albino Clown is just bonkers. Honestly my dream snake would be an Enchi Candino Clown. God I hope we see one of those at some point.
great stuff Dāv! Since you are in Italy, can you do an episode of "Jeweled Lacerta in the wild"?
I'd love to, but it's a little past peak herping season. :\
I really like the snake that looks like a panda but my fav was that orange. So beautiful. Great video!
I have to admit that if that super cinny wasn't there, it would be a really hard choice.
If I was as rich as Dav Kaufman, I would have one of everything!!! :-)
I wish I was rich
Lol, me too 😊
Hello!
Thank you for having mentioned my photo exhibition at the entrance, dedicated to the Italian herpetological fauna :)
Matteo Di Nicola
Hi Matteo, Happy to do it. Your photography is amazing!
I agreed w/you on the black n white pied... Georgous!!!
Gonna need more cowbell Dave! Great vlog man, thank you🖤
So glad someone caught that. haha
Loved the video, and absolutely love it when you show the pricing on different animals and morphs both locally and abroad! Please keep doing that! I will admit though, I was a tiny bit bummed when you were unable to go see what they had in the mammal department. The bats were amazing though! I wish bats were a bit more accepted in the States as an 'exotic pet'.
I agree about the bats! It was pretty rough being in there to be honest.
Haha I loved the "more cowbell" reference!
This actually came up on my suggested, so I waited to watch them both together, then I accidentally watched the second one first haha. Both amazing videos and this expo was incredible! Thanks for taking me along again. Rattle On!
The important thing is you watched both and enjoyed them :)
Absolutely wonderful! 🤗
That was fun to watch. Thanks for the production! Looking forward to part 2.
Glad you enjoyed
Awesome expo
As a San Franciscan - I’m over the moon for that SF Garter snake- what a beauty! And the little Batties! 🦇
How can they not be anyone's favorite garter snakes?
Can’t wait for the next one Dav 👍🏻🇬🇧
Aaaand I was at home 😭 The pictures of wild reptiles at the entry of the expo were taken by Matteo Di Nicola, he’s super talented, knowledgeable and he does a lot to educate people about wildlife and teach to respect it! He also have an identification group on Facebook and an amazing Instagram matteo.dinicola.wildlife he published books to!
Thank you for letting me know that! I will definitely look at him up! Amazing photos!
Dāv Kaufman's Reptile Adventures he just published a book where you can see every single reptile and amphibian species (in different life stages) that we have in Italy 😍
@@strgnptrl I'll have to get that book
Dāv Kaufman's Reptile Adventures the book is in Italian but it’s mostly pictures and the names are in latin of course and English as well, you can message him on instagram or at guida.erpetologica@libero.it
I’ll send you a few images on Instagram from his profile!
Holy moly this show looks amazing! I somehow had no idea that Italy was so reptile crazy lol also, omg the bats 😱😍🤩
Also, the cutie that won the ball python contest looked like a piece of jasper stone. He was stunning 😍
I agree!
Love the cow bell "more cow bell" 🐄🔔 🎶
Dave ✌🏼you get around! Cool, take care.
"Butt to gut"? 😂😂😂
I think that might be a Minnesotan lingo thing?
Brian Kusko , you missed out man, what a great butt to gut experience 🤣😜
Really awesome
I'm getting my first reptile on November 3rd at the Lincoln Nebraska reptile expo I'm so excited
I started drooling at "three buildings full of reptiles" 🤤
Great expo, definitely going to visit it someday. Thanks for the tour :)
It's a pity that the ball python market is not doing as well as in the United States...
What a fantastic expo to attend Dav, heaven actually.
it was!
I didn’t know panda pied where a thing and now I have to have one
Edit: Never mind. Those are WILDLY out of my price range, according to morph market 🤣
More cowbell!! I like seeing all the animals. Thanks
I loved the "best in show" award!! Amazing BP's. And the "Panda" really needed at least a runner up award :-) It would really cool to see more awards like this in the states.
That pied clown was absolutely gorgeous!
Awesome vlog Dāv once again! 👍🐍🦎
Thanks!
Bello questo video! Aspetto il seguito, grazieeeeeee 😊😊😊
grazie! Arriverà questo sabato
Omg 😂😂😂 7:00
Great video Dav!
I knew you'd like that :)
Rock n roal 🤙🏿
Stunning
Love the final two Pythons!!
It was hard to choose a winner between them
@ absolutely!!
Agreed agreed agreed
I really liked the content on this episode
Dav Kaufman is my hero😇
Awww. Thanks :)
That was a wicked SHOW!
San Francisco Lost a GREAT SNAKE😪!
Butt - to - gutt YEPPERS!!!
It really was an amazing show!
Those cylinder enclosures would be great for jumping spiders
Very cool. The biggest Reptile Expo in Europe should be in Hamm Germany i think :-)
But Verona is very cool and very big too.
A lot of people were saying this might be bigger, some say Hamm. Either way, this is the nicest expo I've been to in Europe without question!
Albino phantom was my top pick for sure
Nice ... I liked that super cinnamon het pied... But that albino phantom clown was nice. Would be nice to have that abino phantom clown in pied..... Im a sucker for clown.
For sure. I'd like to see that with pied...but then again I'd like to see everything with pied :)
great video thanks :D i normally do not like the albino's or pieds, but that albino had a nice variaty of colour tones. imo a good super cinnamon > any pied
I am so jealous (in a good way), i wish i could've gone there. But sadly i think i won't be able to get anything cuz most of the things were quite expensive, so maybe next time.
great video
Thanks!
These Euro shows look sooo appetizing to attend. Always wanted to do one in England
A1A Adventures ihs Doncaster is so worth it!
This most definitely Looks It!
It's very much worth it!
Gotta love reptile expos :) Nice video! The biggest expo for exotic animals worldwide (reptiles, amphibians, tarantulas, insects and so on) is near my home town in Hamm, Germany. Its called the "Terraristika Hamm" and its 4 times a year. Maybe one day you can come to Hamm for the expo :)
I don't think I'll make it to that one because of the film/photo ban
@ True, didnt think about that.. Well maybe one day just to experience it yourself :)
I audibly gasped when I realized you were going to pull out a San Francisco garter. I'm so jealous you got to hold one! (And hey, that Kermit voice wasn't too bad!)
Lol. Thanks! It was amazing even though I’ve seen a few in the wild.
Gotta have more cowbell!! Hehehehe
That cow bell tho..lol...
So cool to see European expos & the oddities that arise in peoples collections bc of different legislation!
Just wait until you see what else I filmed over there!
Dāv Kaufman's Reptile Adventures I have my notifications on in anticipation!
More cowbell please!
HA! Yes, Sir - More cowbell! 🐮🛎
That chameleon cutie though :)
Ya gotta give me more cowbell, Dave.
Cheers,
Chris
I got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell!
Great vid, Thanks.
Butt to gut! Hahahahaha I’m stealing that saying x
Amazing and one would have to be really physically fit to cover the contents of all 3 buildings after finally getting through that long line :) Sure would be worth the visit though and great coverage Dav :)
I admit we were pretty exhausted by the end of the day
@ I'm sure and that's why my doctor wasn't in favor of my making the long trip with my upper spine damage but heck I'm enjoying it all in everyone's videos from Tinley :)
The sulcattas doing what they do best eating!
tnx for the vid bro! are you coming to belgium in your visit to Europe?
I did yes. I love Belgium
Cerea..♥️
Great place! Loved it there!
Maybe one day I'll have an expo like that near by. Three buildings and one has birds and rabbits? Yes please.
Wow phantom clown very unique
I know, right? I kinda need it :)
Did you say armor-all or almond oil? 😂 Interesting about the garter snakes over there. They know how to party over there with the expo's it looks like. Curious what equip you're using, mainly a gimble to vlog?
Almond oil. But I bet turtle wax might work. Haha. I use a small hand held camera for my vids.
@ dang, pretty smooth for a handheld.
Both ball pythons at the end were cool looking! Would it have been possible for you to buy something from that show and have it shipped? Is shipping from there outrageously expensive?
It would have been very possible, and I may do that soon :)
Dāv Kaufman's Reptile Adventures ain’t no river to wide, no mountain to high 🤣👌🏻
are those peter’s banded skinks in 3:18??? those are my dream lizards along with the jeweled lacertas 🥰
I'm actually surprised you were allowed to film. From what I know of the Expo in Hamm (Germany) (also one of the biggest Expos in Europe) doesn't allow that.
Hamm is the only show you're not allowed to film. That's why I haven't been there.
You are aloud to film in every expo in the EU (as long as you’re polite and ask the organisation first, and Francesco & Fillipo welcomed us with open arms.)
Hamm is the only expo where you will not be aloud to film, and if you get caught they will force you to delete everything you have on you’re cellphone or camera and kick you out.
We have a big problem with organizations like peta and co here in germany
These abuse all the clips of the expo for their purposes ......
That's the reason of the ban on filming
Need more cow bell Dave!
That chameleon was tryna square up
New to reptiles and this channel and I see this video is old but can you not buy animals at the expo if you live in the states? How does that work?
Need more cow bell!
Yea I like panda too
What type of tortoise is the dark one show @ 4m06s?
Thats it, Im moving to Europe. If my husband asks...I blame Dav! Snails AND bats?!? See ya 'Merica!
Hi Dàv love your channel when are you going to come to the uk and visit our big ihs show
I'd love to come and check that out
@ it's worth a look. Plenty on offer
Was that Billy idol as a judge?
You should visit Hamm, Houten and Ziva Exotica reptile shows!
I was at Houten last year and I loved it, and I hope to be back next summer. I'll look into the Ziva Exotica show. I don't know much about it yet.
@ all 3 are excelent and hamm really takes the cake since it's serving as the number 1 marketplace for reptiles in europe. you should look into it.
NicKtheGreeK
Houten is great, very good organisation also. So it’s a lovely expo.
Hamm got nothing on Verona though.
I attend every Hamm show and I will go to Verona anytime.
Hamm lately isn’t all that anymore.
Don’t get me wrong, Hamm is a great show with great sales and offers where you can pick up and ship animals worldwide, and you can see rare stuff, but there are los many downsides and half of the venders leave at 14:00-15:00 , it’s not cosy nor attractive. It is to crowded and no friendly organisation.
Verona is beautifully organised very big, friendly and very helpful staff, good walking room, great area to eat, drink, rest and go around the expo again.
The place is well taken care off.
Also you’re not aloud to film in Hamm, you will be forced to delete everything on you’re cellphone or camera and get kicked out.
Didn't know that, and I didn't mean to be a wise-ass :P
I commented on the popularity of the show, shame the quality doesn't live up to it
I hope that Ziva Exotica isn't half as bad
On the SF Garter, as a lifelong (mostly) SF Bay Area resident, I flat COULD NOT agree with you more.
I love my state. Growing up queer, I can't recommend the Bay Area enough (tho being a teen in the 90s, it wasn't entirely blissful back then). But some of our conservation laws are SO RIDICULOUS. Some of our conservation laws are amazing, and we really led the way in a lot of the environmental initiatives starting around the turn of the 20th century--then even far more after WWII when it really picked up. We have a long an awesome history of of some really amazing wildlife initiatives that set examples for the rest of the nation to follow. But there are also places where we have BLOWN it, so hugely. And honestly most of it where CA has fucked up seems really illogical to me, like it is all shit people just haven't actually thought through all the way, or that came from phenomenally bad info.
I am not allowed to own an axolotl - because they are endangered. They are endemic to freaking Mexico, not here! Ask Mark Twain, they could NEVER become invasive here (which is the excuse for why I cannot have, amongst many other animals, a ferret...which is LAUGHABLE. A domesticated ferret would last outside in the winter here for about three damn seconds), and there are so many examples of private breeders with good records keeping species going. I'm too lazy to google exact figures, but the number of healthy axolotls in captivity FAR outpace those in the wild, because their natural range was always so small to begin with.
I get that without clear breeding records we cant ever release these various species of animals back into the wild for fear of releasing hybrids, disease, etc. But there is a flip side to it too - there is NO public education going on around these small locality threatened/endangered species. A friend of mine found what I am pretty sure is a SF locality in her ivy a few weeks ago and wanted her husband to kill it; thank GODS they knew that I would never let them hear the end of it if they did (and her husband is afraid of spiders but not snakes).
I am a PASSIONATE environmentalist and conservationist. I want to see as few wild caught animals in the trade as possible, and mainly so that we can breed them in captivity to remove the pressure on wild populations in myriad ways. In many, many ways I am so proud of things my state has done to lead the way on conservation. But there are many of our laws and restrictions which simply go too far....to the point of being harmful.
SF garters absolutely should NOT be taken from the wild, especially by hobbyists. The population is far far too fragile at this point, largely thanks to overcollection back in the 50s and 60s; and now the fault lies largely thanks to property values, IMO. But even if they required a permit to own from a captive breeder with clear records, and the permit to cut down on the fear of people releasing pets into the wild....something. With this one specifically, I feel like we have closed the books on the SF garter to the point that most people dont even realize they even exist as a locality! I know people in the hobby, in the bay area, who don't know diddlyshit about them. And that is sad sad sad.
Pardon my tome....you nailed it for a Kimma-goes-on-a-prolonged-rant topic. My home area, plus garter snakes which I have always loved. I know they are so cheezy as one of my first love snakes, but growing up here where we have those beautiful regular red sideds....how could you not become a colubrid gal?
I babysat for a guy who had a roommate who had a huge python when I was a kid. Perhaps the only child more set up for becoming hooked is my own daughter. ;)
Dav can we import those S.F garters? and some awesome animals over there and I would have gon for the ringer too
I don't think they will be available for import until they are gone in the wild sadly :(
Sto guardando il video anche per vedere Michele e i rettili😂 🇮🇹
Idem
Spero vi sia piaciuto il video!
Dāv Kaufman's Reptile Adventures certo😭❤️
Pure io
Does anyone know what the black snakes at 6:40 are?
i loved meeting you there, and i would have said soo much more to you, but i was very nervous! I could have at least mentioned that i'm the only italian pet tuber: there are no pet tubers here, and also i rewiew expos just like you. You are awesome Dav! Check out my channel ;)
Hey Michele, great to hear from you! I was great to briefly meet you in Italy. I'll for sure check out your channel and next time I'm in Italy, we'll film a video together for sure.
More cowbell
I think expos in Italy are that big and well “furnished” because it’s not possible to ship reptiles for us
Fancy Dog Lady you can ship reptiles in and out the Verona Reptile Expo without any problems as long as you have the correct papers for the animals. 👌🏻
Cowbell
Hamm is twice the size
I hope the lift that filming ban. I'd love to visit it one day anyway.
@ I visit every Hamm show (4 times a year). Yes, it's big, you can meet a lot of people and find very exotic reptiles. But it's always so full of people, you can hardly breathe and have to watch your wallets. It's worth the experience, but it's not a fun place.
Naeff Cold Blooded Hamm got nothing on Verona.
I attend every Hamm show and I will go to Verona anytime.
Hamm lately isn’t all that anymore.
Don’t get me wrong, Hamm is a great show with great sales and offers where you can pick up and ship animals worldwide, but half of the venders leave at 14:00-15:00 , it’s not cosy nor attractive. It is to crowded and no friendly organisation.
Verona is beautifully organised very big, friendly and very helpful staff, good walking room, great area to eat, drink, rest and go around the expo again.
The place is well taken care off.
And Hamm is deffinitly not twice the sice of Verona.
....need more cowbell!
It fit so well!
If you’re allergic to rodents, how do you feed your snakes at home?
I suffer every week. But my snakes are worth it :)
I love reptiles but I also love things fuzzy. I just can’t do the feeding of mice or rats. I’ll stick with insectivores and veggie eating reptiles.
Couldn’t you just buy a couple SF Garters and ship them home?
In Australia Qld there was a rainbow fish restricted to one locality in a national park, collecting totally prohibited. Then some idiot got rid of their unwanted tilapia in that lake and the spiecies of rainbow fish went extinct. But it turned out some that some individuals had illegally collected some of these rainbow fish and were keeping them in private collections. Well these people ended up saving the spiecies by supplying breeding stock and after the talapia were eradicated the rainbows were reintroduced. That is the story of the lake Eachum rainbow fish. Hope that garter snake does not suffer the same sort of fate. The appropriate authorities should be lobbied to get the laws changed on keeping them.
9:21 ?
I absolutely dont somewhere like if there is not the venemous snakes in there! Sorry man
I am not shocked about the garter snake but what are we supposed to do how do we get these species that are threatened into captive breeding ??? It's a bummer
I don't think we can sadly. Most of thier habitat has been destroyed by strawberry farms, but there's no regulation on that.
@ our priorities are twisted ..
Is there no way of us shipping these to you? In the UK the rule is that if an animal can be proven as captive bred for 3 generations it can be kept. Is there anything similar in the US? I.e. if we ship UK captives to you can they be kept by US keepers and breeder's??
I don't know I'm look around the internet see what I can find out that's a very good argument tho you can prove that they are 3 generation captive id be really interested in finding out.
It's just like when Dave went and seen the( terror skink ) beauty but going to be gone forever cause we are protecting them to Extinction Phobos skip this book or die that was talk an text I can't spell it Dave 😂
What cow bell ? Wtf
ugh bats make terrible captive creatures as pets unless sold only to a facility with a flight cage and proper husbandry they have a miserable and shot life
