    Could you do pros and cons of the S1 vs F1 as an initial laser purchase?

    • @EmbraceMaking
      @EmbraceMaking  Год назад +4

      Well, the first thing I would ask is what do you intend on using your machine for? The F1 is so much smaller - even with the slide extension - that you will be stuck doing small items. If this is the case then I would do the F1 because you get both blue laser and IR laser in one machine. It takes up less space and is easily portable if you want to do things like craft shows. If you want to make bigger pieces like cutting boards or cut out big panels with lots of shapes to assemble wooden designs - then get the S1. It has more power (up to 40W) and you can still get an IR module. The downside is that it takes up a lot of space and will be way more expensive especially if you want to work with deeper pieces (you will need the frame extension even if you want to use the rotary). That being said, if you have the space and the money, and you invest in something like the S1 upfront then it will take longer for you to grow out of it.

    @proudcanadianeh4663 Год назад +1

    awesome video thank you! Im just about to order it the 20W version. According to the site it cuts 10mm wood easily. So I would use the machine for precise cutting of wood (mainly ~6mm thick for my projects). A little nervous now given your cutting chapter of the video, and that I don't see much S1 20W cutting in any review vids! Nothing over 3mm... Do you think it can cut 6mm wood like basswood/baltic birch plywood? That would be my main need for this machine so im trying to confirm that capability before purchase

    • @EmbraceMaking
      @EmbraceMaking  Год назад +1

      You're welcome! The bamboo I was cutting was roughly 15mm thick so its considerably thicker than 10mm... Also I'm wondering if the bamboo has lots of glue or something to bond it all together and that might be the issue? What type of wood will you use? If you do end up getting one I would be super appreciative if you used the affiliate links in the video description, there's also a $200 discount code in there too :) thanks!

    • @FounderOf4
      @FounderOf4 Год назад

      I'm just learning about these machines but wouldn't it be better to get the 40w and dial back the power instead of worrying if your 20w had enough power?

    • @proudcanadianeh4663
      @proudcanadianeh4663 Год назад +1

      @@FounderOf4 not necessarily, depends your needs. at 40W your laser beam is slightly thicker. Plus I would mainly be using it to cut under 10mm wood, so no need in 40W. im gonna get the 20W and then save up abit more and get a C02 for next upgrade likely p2

    • @EmbraceMaking

      Do you want to be able to jog the machine while in the design screen? I'll see if I can find a true hard anodized part around here... I had some things made a long time ago that I know are real hard anodized... if I can find them I'll throw them under the laser and find out

      100 lines per cm for each of the examples. I believe this is the "default" setting based on many of the XTool reference settings that I've looked through. Anything less and you start to notice the lines

      30" wide, 22" deep, and 7" tall ... if you use the hose sticking out the back you'll need a few extra inches away from the wall to allow the hose to come out and bend 90 degrees.

      Yes the fire suppression kit, air purifier, etc are all extra from XTOOL. They sell some different bundle options to get a slightly better deal if you buy things together - but the base S1 does not come with these extras.

      xTool supports their machines for less than 2 years. Go to their website and look for parts or modules to fit their D1 and D1 Pro models, which they were pushing heavily last Christmas. ALL parts are "out of stock"and have been for months. The only available replacement module is the $1,200 40w module for the D1 Pro.
      No matter how innovative or enticing their technology is, it is worthless if it gets bricked after 2 years (or less), due to no available parts or modules.

    The problem with videos made by people that receive the laser for FREE, is that they're only useful to see what the laser can do, not for your conclusions.
