  • From the comments of a second grader, who just finished a mindfulness program in school - Mindfulness is the best thing that ever happened in my life¬ - to the Buddha's declaration that mindfulness is the direct path to awakening, we are seeing a renaissance of interest in mindfulness as a path of balance and insight. This talk will explore how mindfulness offers a clear and straightforward way of understanding ourselves and the world around us.

true 🤍🤍🤍🤍 equanimity is also possible even when times get very tricky or even nasty as they are in my country now that communism got in with planned fraud and poverty has augmented in only 15 days of power as prices rise ..!

@@susydyson1750 I can’t imagine seeing people dying of starvation and not being able to help them. And knowing it has been purposeful and orchestrated I can’t imagine what that does to a person’s mind. I will pray for you and your countrymen.

Like the Buddha Joseph Goldstein is so pragmatic in his teachings. Great that he chosen to share his wisdom with us. The book is big alright and heavy too

I learned a lot from you. I like all your simple approaches or teachings to understand how to practice mindfulness and the motive of your mind that you have pointed out is so valuable for me. Thank you so much Mr. Goldstein.

I tried to meditate with his help on his lessons on the free section of 10% Happier (because I refuse to purchase it). However after a about s month I didn’t glean any insights that would’ve made me continue. I just learned to got better at patiently focusing on my breathing for 10-20 minutes. I kind of lost interest and ended up quitting. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do beyond that. I got Sam Harris’ app for free due to financial hardship from disability, but it’s really for more advanced meditators.
Should I try the breathing meditation again and hope for something happen? Or what?

There’s always someone with a cough.
The forlorn sound of an ringing telephone no one’s picking up was quite nostalgic. Reminding me of a simpler time before cell phones.

His work and presence along with the work of Sharon and Jack, should be very heartening for us in North America, the profound groundedness of their teaching, the truth and clarity, and the extreme generosity. The three of them move me in special ways almost every day.

I hate the compulsion that causes me to do this but the woman in the front row in a fur scarf distracted me. In the talk, Joseph stated, "When you're going through your life notice what it feels like when you are being kind and what it feels like when you are being unkind". As a budding animal activist, I had a bumper sticker that read "Be Kind to Animals' Don't Eat Them!". Something to meditate on, no? I'll end as Joseph did; "May all beings be at Peace".
