i am a Bassplayer!
When i watched this i started screaming and clapping like crazy,
the very same moment realizing i am at Home 2 o´clock at Night
on the Couch,and my Neighbours hearing me!
it Freaked me!!!!!!!!
one of the very rare "in tune" multiple bass upright solos
When Ray Brown is stood next to you, you better be in tune!!
man there is NOTHING in the world like Ray walkin' a blues!!
so fuckin' tasty it makes me drool
I can't listen to this any more... This sounds so friggin good my heart's about to pop!
1:45. Ray's such a legend, listen to that groove the second he starts walking! And hitting a #11 on beat 2 of the top of the form is GENIUS. Swiped.
Love those harmonicing Bass lines :D
The best bass players strive to project enough that they don't need amps- there is no amp that doesn't screw with the beautiful sound of the upright bass. These guys do an amazing job- the fact that they cut through so well given the crappy RUclips sound recording quality is incredible.
Christian McBride is a beast on the upright!!! that solo was epic!
Magníficos contrabajistas y grandiosa big band con arreglos de un grande como John Clayton!
Fantastique.
Hi Bardzo Pięknie:)
I love bass!!!!!!!!Yeeeeaahhh!!!!!!!!
Wow! Wonderful!
The WDR Big Band bass player John Goldsby (not shown in the picture) is playing bass on the ensemble sections.
three of the most swingin' bass players of all time
I can't believe how good this is
I wish i had had the chance to see Ray live...man, he was good.
Man, you can tell McBride and Clayton have listened to a lot of Ray Brown stuff over the years. Some of the influence is unmistakable.
Awesome... RIP Ray Brown

Even McBride is impressed with this 05:39
He seems to like 07:16 too.
w00t! XD
What a great recording! Does anybody know why Clayton and Christian McBride were chuckling during Ray Brown's solo at 5:40? Did he quote something in particular?
I think it wasn't out of time they (mainly McBride) were confused beause Ray played some quarternote triplets in between his eighth notes. Anyway, for me it also has to do with time.
They laughed because Ray brought the stank.
@chmkla Yeah man, i know John, couldn't tell it was him! Thanks though
@valetparkrrr He showed up
Was there a band or something playing? I just saw bass :P
@turixism Isn´t that a 4 word phrase =D ?
Yeah. At that time I was just a little boy... That's why I didn't remember his death said on TV
from left to right is it christian mcbride, ray brown, john clayton?
This is way too much cool for me to handle. I need to go lay down...
AWESOME. Whos the drummer?
Band is killin
@gnarzor how so? I played upright bass for a long time. All I'm saying is that there should be an inventor or designer to craft a better bass.
i think i was right. i would know ray anywhere, and i know john is a lot taller than christian.
Who says too many chefs spoil the soup?
I don't get it because there is an Organist but sound is clearly not that of an Organ walking bass. It's an upright bass tone for sure. John Clayton appears to be the band leader but none of the 3 are walking during the big band kicks. If John is the band leader, there sure wouldn't be an Organ walking bass most of the time. Anyone know the story on this?
who is the organist?
Frank Chastenier (org)
@SexOverThePhone1 the group is called Superbass. the song is called "Blue Monk" and this is much older than the song ur talking about. im just guessing that this isnt ur prefered type of music. thats ok. Nicki Minaj isnt really my thing. and thats ok too. so please dont go and judge just because this isnt what ur into. just because u dont like it doesnt mean it sucks.
....i can't do that

Yeah. To be honest I haven't seen Ray for a long time. Now he is dead right?
@desafinado490 no
These people are really super skilled and the double bass is a great instrument but It seems like the instrument needs some electrical help. Amplification or modification of some kind. All the plucking when high becomes really muted and messy.
No, you're right. First Ray then John. Sorry
THIS IS NOT THE NICKI MINAJ SONG. WTF
