Thank you so much for your video. I was just about throwing in the skip my nail gun ,i tried everything and it didn't work. After watching your video it took me 7 minutes to clean it up and now its working 100% thank you
Got my first jam today after 2500 nails, my dad shot into a really old 2x4 right into a knot. So I’m here learning how to unjam it; he has a knack for teaching me things, like to how to fix my tools
I just bought a Dewalt cordless framing gun. I could hear the motor spin up, but it would not shot the nails. After watching your video, I opened the gun to check for some kind of junk left over from the factory jambing the gun. No junk. It was the firing pin jamb to the side. I pushed it back to center and it pop back further into the housing. I then put everything back together and tried to fire the gun again. It worked perfectly. Thanks for the video on how to check for any kind of jambing....nail or firing pin.
That was very helpful. Thank you. Got mine about 2 weeks ago but got a nail jammed. I got it out in about 2 minutes following your tutorial. That's a really good design esspecially with the non-detataching screws so they don't get lost. I'm also glad you showed us the inside. It's super cool. More of a nail slingshot than a "gun" persay by design. I like mine a lot. Beats having to oil a pneumatic one and carry a big compressor and air hose by far.
This video helped me a lot a mate loaned me his nailer but started to missfire then nothing at all stripped it and done like he said now works fine and saved me a fortune not having to buy him a new one 😊😊😊👍👍👍
I was having a hell of a time with this nailer. It wouldn't seat the nails, it was jamming, I was ready to send it back to DeWalt. I watched your video this morning, went out and bought the electric motor cleaner, cleaned and let dry. I just tested the nailer and it worked 1000% better. The nail heads were recessing into the wood. I tried single shot and no issues. I tried sequential at a very fast pace and no issues. The can of cleaner now has a space in my van. Thanks for posting this video because I haven't seen any solutions to the issue this nailer had.
Wow awesome that’s for the feedback!! I’m so glad someone else confirmed it worked for them this was the only time I’ve had this so far. I think over time it eventually gets enough gunk to need a good cleaning. Happy nailing!
Thanks for this video! I've had my nailer about 6 months & I LOVE it, except for it's frequent jamming, or shooting 2 nails at once! I'm a DIY home owner, basically rebuilding most of my house from the inside out! This is a huge help! Thanks!
Them dewalt guns seem to not like rim shanked or clipped 30 degree paslode nails.. I don’t know of other nails they have issues with, I’m sure there are others.. but that’s what we stead away from outing in them on the job sites.. Milwaukee cordless guns are much heavier but have a more solid design and have a gas chamber inside of them that can be taken apart, cleaned and topped off if need be.. cold weather and such or extreme use tends to effect chamber pressure.. it bleeds off eventually .. 20,000-30,000 nails.. needs cleaned and topped off to 165-170psi.
This just started happening to my gun today as I was framing for a slate roof. Uuuugh! I thought old reliable was done. I keep a case of that particular cleaner in the shop and will break it out first thing in the morning. Thank you so much for this video.
Good video here! Have gone through two of the 21 degree nailers, the nail clips were staggering over each other causing jams and no fires, I returned them and went to the paslode gas nailer. Down side is buying the gas but it’s ultralight and does a great job. But nice video !!
I find this thread really helpful ,with bolt locations etc, I still regret buying this nail gun ,shame on you DeWalt ,at the least y'all should promote this man for picking up y'all's slack .God bless brother
Oh man thank you so much, I’m trying to understand why the nail jams tho, the gun is a great help when is such a small job, it avoids having to bring out the whole compressor and air hoses etc. just trying to figure out what to do to keep the nails from getting stuck on the head
So there’s this product I use called three in one lock dry lube. When you pull the thing back that holds the nails in you’ll see there’s a little spring tape that’s coiled up. From what I can tell when it jams it’s because it’s not feeding the nails correctly and holding them in tight so keeping that part lubed up now and then is what helped mine.
Great video. My gun wouldn’t reset by following the manufactures troubleshooting instructions. It’s only 3 months old btw and I’ve not applied any oil or grease. I undone the two bolts at the rear and took out the back mechanism and that seems to have reset the trigger. Working fine again now 👍
Nice, this is what I needed! I oiled my 21⁰ thinking that would help. Sad! It sounding like it was having low power and not even firing. I used Acetone and cleaned insides with a rag and Qtips... avoided buying a new one. Thank you!
Thank you for this great video. My nail gun has been sitting on the shelf for over two years because I didn’t want to invest money in getting it fixed. I paid $400 for it and only shot two boxes of nails before it started jamming and half driving the nails. I am cleaning out my garage, and I was about to toss it in the trash. I figured I would check the Internet one more time to see if anybody had a fix for this problem. I found this video via a Google search. I didn’t have any electronic cleaner, so I cleaned my gun with carburetor cleaner. Five minutes later, it was working fantastic. Thanks again!!
Thanks sir! My gun wouldn’t charge to fire and the jam light kept blinking. I’ve unjammed it many times, but that wasn’t the problem. Once I pulled the side screws and pulled the firing pin out and put it back in, it’s good as new! Thanks again!
Thank you so very much for this great video because I just picked mine up today and I read a lot of negative reviews about it and as I was thinking about taking it back I watched your video. I guess if I ever run into any problem I know exactly what to do now. Problem solved ! I'm keeping it but damn That nailer is heavy lol. Thanks a lot for this great video
WD-40, is a water dispersant (WD) and is not a lubricant. It does a great job of of attracting dirt and gumming things up. Brake clean and rubbing alcohol also cleans those metal parts very well.
@@SmartEasyDIYer thanks, just used some electro lube and opened everything up to check and clean. Got bent nail out as well. Keep up the good work. 🔨🔨🛠🪚

Another one thank you for the video helped me out I found the flip lever needed to be reset because I actually dry fired my gun four times because I was going to switch nails and then I went and grabbed a cup of coffee and I forgot to put a magazine in but I didn't know about the flip up part thank you
A friend borrowed mine and after 10 nails it wouldn't fire at all. Although it's about 5yrs old, I've barely used it so it's basically new so shouldn't be anything wrong with it. Will try this later on🤞
Hi. Nice video! I got a used nailer and it does not work. It looked like the problem ist oil, as you showed in your video. But, do the springs need oil, or anything else in the nailer, or can i simply clean all parts? Is yours totally dry inside? Julian
Yes it’s supposed to be all dry inside the head of the nailer. You can lube the part where you slide nails in cuz that’s get hanging up a bit if you don’t. I like the 3 in one padlock spray (not oil) it works good for that.
Strange that oiling the thing would freeze it up. That might explain much of the issues folks have. But I think I'll go with the Ridgid nailer though I have DeWalt batteries. People seem to have better experience with the air spring designs. And currently the Ridgid is priced, including battery & charger, lower than DeWalt bare tool.
I don’t think it supposed to be offset. Yeah I think lubricating the spring is OK I’ve had to do that with mine because if it’s sticking then it won’t work properly either. I use a lock dry lube made by 3 in 1 it works better than other lubricants for attracting dirt etc.
Nice tear down video. Have to say I am so disappointed with my gun though. Total lack of power to drive 90mm nails in and a ridiculous amount of recoil compared to a gas gun. Now developed issues with bump fire where the magazine doesn’t push up correctly and needs nudged every other nail. It constantly jams, resulting in a bent nail wedged by the firing pin. You then have to perform the first steps you’ve shown here. Something clearly up as it’s now almost every other nail. Issues from day one. Personally with stay away from all DeWalt nailers in future.
Wow interesting. It seems people have mixed results. Some people love them some people hate them. I’ve had a positive experience overall with mine for how much use I’ve given it. Thanks for the comment.
Does this work for the new dewalt nailer? Feels like mine isn’t firing quite often but think it’s been due to rainy weather wondering if this will fix it
Great video, but my gun will only shoot one nail and stop. The motor still runs but it wont shoot, it always happens when im nailing down plywood on the ground. Will this help it?
Broooo thank you so much for showing me this I was definitely disappointed with dewalt after my gun won’t set I’m going home to clean and test it right now
I don’t know mine had no issues at all coming out. Maybe try prying carefully with a flat screwdriver if you can fit one in there and get it to loosen up after removing the bolts.
I was using the same gun yesterday and when I depressed the gun onto the material you could hear the motor barely start to spin off and then die. Similar to win the battery‘s dead. I tried four different batteries and continue to have the problem. Sometimes I would have to angle the gun at a 45° angle downwards to get it to spin to fire and sometimes I would have to keep it flat at a 90. Any ideas on how to fix?
your video was a lifesaver, it's so counter-intuitive until you understand the mechanism. The more lubricated the worse. I used the spray cleaner just like you showed me and now it's driving nails great again, thanks!
I have the same gun, probably about two months old, fires no problem but makes the craziest noises compared to when i first got it, sounds like there is shit stuck around the part that spins, should i try do the same as what you showed in the video?
Mine jammed 2 months ago and could not workout why no nails stuck so tuck back off put it back together and works..I would not of know until I watched this video

Hi.

Do you think lubricating the spring would be ok?
Is the main driver pin for the nails supposed to be offset. I notice mine is turned a little
I don’t think it supposed to be offset. Yeah I think lubricating the spring is OK I’ve had to do that with mine because if it’s sticking then it won’t work properly either. I use a lock dry lube made by 3 in 1 it works better than other lubricants for attracting dirt etc.

Using the gun on bump mode with 90mm nails is to much for the pin and can bend it. Only use single fire mode for bigger nails

Sometimes I would have to angle the gun at a 45° angle downwards to get it to spin to fire and sometimes I would have to keep it flat at a 90. Any ideas on how to fix?
Sorry I don’t know anything about the issues you’re experiencing. Do you know if it’s still under warranty?
your video was a lifesaver, it's so counter-intuitive until you understand the mechanism. The more lubricated the worse. I used the spray cleaner just like you showed me and now it's driving nails great again, thanks!
OK great I’m glad it helped! Thank you!
Is that parts cleaner, like a degreaser?
Yes I think so but it’s alcohol based so it doesn’t leave a film.
@@SmartEasyDIYer thanks mate

Thank you for this video. It helped me tremendously this morning. :)
Awesome! Happy nailing again. 😊
I have the same gun, probably about two months old, fires no problem but makes the craziest noises compared to when i first got it, sounds like there is shit stuck around the part that spins, should i try do the same as what you showed in the video?
Yeah I think it’s definitely worth a try.
Mine jammed 2 months ago and could not workout why no nails stuck so tuck back off put it back together and works..I would not of know until I watched this video
