    Hey everyone! I still use this framer but recommend you check out the Milwuakee or Hitachi. When I bought this gun it was the only cordless out there for years, besides the Paslode. Shortly after I originally posted this review Milwaukee and Hitachi came out with framers. I haven't had a chance to review those yet but they look like they might jam up less and they don't make the noise this DeWalt makes to fire. I run Milwuakee's finish nailers on DeWalt batteries though a battery adapter and let me tell ya, I don't miss the noise. See ya!

    I'm a 25 year experienced contractor and dewalt battery everything is the best thing ever. When your installing a door or whatever it sucks to get the Compressor and hoses out and make sure you don't trip a breaker. Battery power is awesome
    Sure it has its drawbacks but portability is key in our trade. Especially when 30 ft off the ground nailing up some facia. Or up in some rafters with your hose all tangled up leaking air and getting holes in them all the time.

    Thanks for being thorough, I probably should have read more of the manual. I just got mine and bought some plastic collated nails, and it was leaving them about an inch from being fully sunken. Now I know why. Thanks!

    Will keep my 23 year old Hitatchi NR83A. The thing is a dependable beast and gold standard of air nailers imo. There's something about the way it feels, the sounds it makes and the way the paint wears over the years that I find satisfying.

    Good review, I was up in the air about going cordless to air for a small shed build. Since I already have numerous Dewalt 20V and 60V tool line, it made sense to go cordless. Since the 30 degree can be had for under $300 and a good air gun is $300 without the compressor and hose. Thanks, you gave me all the info I needed.

    • @toolrev

      A little more I'd say is maybe grab a Milwuakee gun along with a battery adapter from Amazon and try it with your D batteries. You have a choice these days. Not saying adapters are safe or unsafe to use, just saying I like them for certain tools, nail guns being one of many.

    I just bought one from CL from a contractor who thought he would use it more but being a builder he didnt have much need for it as he uses pneumatics mostly.
    I bought a property with several outbuildings that need repairs so this will be perfect as there is no power there.
    So far I used it on a couple roof braces and framed in a window and it worked really well.
    So far so good for a used tool.

    Great video , thank you . I got this and the DCN660 for £507 on a deal ,as bare units . The weights OK, I use a 2ah battery . It's very quiet . Bump most is a lot of fun . Although the kit is more expensive in 🇬🇧 the nails are cheaper , I guess more choice from Europe . Plenty of space in a Tstak IV for both .

    the really big advantage is portability. where paslode left off, dewalt takes it into the future. you could essentially use a solar charging station in a remote cabin. and run all your 20v tools all day. or in a place were a generator could not be used.

    For small jobs the battery operated nailers can't be beat. For large jobs the air actuated nailers are lighter, faster, and quite honestly are more heavy duty/will last longer. I would add that air nailers are often cheaper in the long run for those who use these tools professionally. Compare the costs of the generator and air tank against yearly battery replacement and it becomes clear. That being said, there is still a battery operated nailer on my Amazon wish list.

    better Dewalt Hikoki Milwaukee?

    • @toolrev
      @toolrev  3 года назад +1

      I haven't tested them yet so I can't tell you from experience, but I hear the Milwaukee and Hitachi are silent and maybe a little faster, where the DeWalt is a little lighter with better balance. Air nailers are superior to any of these battery nailers as far as performance. These nailers are good candidates for battery adapters because overheating isn't really an issue with nailers so I would buy them all, get the adapters for whatever batteries you have and return the two you don't want. And don't forget to let me know what you end up with.🧐

    • @toolrev
      @toolrev  4 года назад

      I haven't reviewed it yet. I'd probably go for the 21° for the centered full round head nails as opposed to the 30° offset full round heads. In my area plastic is cheaper, comes in more variety, and is more readily available off the shelf.

    • @toolrev
      @toolrev  5 лет назад

      I'd give it another shot brother. I use mine almost daily with a 5 amp xr to sink 3'' galvanized Paslodes. Jamming non-stop and failing to sink 3'' nails is user error.
      The DeWalt jams/stalls more, kicks more when toe nailing, and splits wood easier than my pneumatic. That said, I wouldn't be without it.

    • @toolrev

      No you need a finish nailer. I prefer the Milwaukee gen 2 15, 18 and 23 gauge nailers for finish work.

    Ok in soft wood . Try into oak or 1 inch exterior ply keeps bending naiks or nails get stuck . Wont do heavy duty work like the paslode does

      @@toolrev i had to ply a truss roof up and over as it was having a copper roof . It was dense 1 inch exterior ply 8×4s . My dewault would not do it the nails jam or bend . I ended up getting my paslode out it did the job .

      Oops, I accidentally deleted my last comment. Ya, that's weird the DeWalt wouldn't sink through 1'' ply. Like a said before I just use it on 3/4 ply with no issue. But I take your point about the Paslode picking up where the DeWalt failed.

    Ridgid weighs 7 lb + hose so way less difference than 2.4 lb in some cases it might even weigh more if whole hose is dragging along.

      @@toolrev I have the dewault and also the new paslode , problem with paslode is the nails are very expensive and the gas very expensive most contractors wont provide them . When a gun starts to go wrong its time to buy a new one . Many joiners in the uk lease a gun now that way you just send it in for repair and they give you a gun to use until it is fixed .

    • @toolrev
      @toolrev  4 года назад

      Here you can rebuild the DeWalt yourself with a new pin and springs for about $110. But with Milwaukee putting out what looks to be a near pneumatic style cordless 21° and 30° framing nailer, I might look in that direction. Do you have Milwaukee in the UK? Is a joiner a carpenter? Lease, really? Interesting place this UK. :)
