We're so proud of you Qinwen! Reaching the WTA final this year, and winning Olympic gold ... you fought hard all year and it only gets better next year. Coco is an amazing player and having such a close match means you both earned your spots today. Congratulations!
Yes, of course, you should be proud of this bad person! LOL! This poorly raised girl should learn to show respect to her opponents instead of looking at them with an aggressive look! She's just 21 years old and she's already a hurdler in the entire women's circuit! 👏
Hey, red wine! Do you really believe that qinwen will read your comment? Why are you writing this message to her ? Are you a little child? LOL! Grow up and behave like an intelligent adult!
This is sport. It could have ended other way. It was incredibly even match. I imagine, each player will leave with a lot of respect to the opponent. Both Coco and Quinwen are young and are on the rise, developing their skills so fast that I hope they will be able to dominate the female tennis world in the years to come. Both are humble and hard working and can be model players for the young.
It's interesting to see some people pick on Zheng on almost every occasion. Has that occurred to those there is a culture difference? In Asian culture, a team, organization or collective group goes above individuals. That can explain why Zheng thanked them first, and congratulated Coco after that. In a relatively formal setting, like this ceremony, sometimes calling someone's name directly can be even considered rude. In Western culture, individualism is more important. So typically they would congratulate players first, then go to the rest, team, organizer, etc. Globalization may have influenced behavior of both sides, but for these young athletes, they are not necessarily aware of these cultural nuances. Zheng's team can help on these details.

@@jcpenny3606not mentioning the champion’s name is definitely a lack of elegance and warmth. She did the bare minimum. Look at the cold handshake after a 3 hour battle… She must grow up.
@@joso5554 Maybe it's a cultural thing. She's from China, the Chinese don't do a lot of hugging, kissing on the cheeks, and joking around in the public. The cold handshake doesn't mean anything. Look at the end of many tennis matches from the past and you'll see handshakes that are barely handshakes.
Although Qinwen is a little older, Coco has been on pro tour since she was 14, and 3 years longer than Qinwen. I feel Qinwen is going through right now what Coco went through 2 years ago, especially against Iga. Now Coco is through it, it's built a resilience Qinwen is still building herself right now. Coco won that tie break (i believe) by her extra years on tour and the extra resilience she has built up over time. Qinwen will be a force to be reckoned with once she builds up that resilience. Very excited about these 2 outstanding women, and what they will give tennis for another 10 years.
Zheng you did a great job today . That was absolutely fantastic and amazing . You only lost marginally at a few critical points . That’s where you need to improve and enhance . Learn to fast win your opponent and don’t give them one second to breathe . Especially people like Gauff who are cunning as wolves . Good luck in 2025 for your slam champions to come .
Just one point away. I couldn't watch it. She could've been the first Chinese or even Asian female to win the tournament 😭 she was actually the better player if you looked at the score. This last point was worth 2.3 million dollars, a trophy, a rank and prestige for Chinese people around the world. Life is so unfair.
I love Zheng, but you have to understand that Tennis is not about who win more points or who win the last point, but more about who win the points that matter. Zheng had opportunity, but she wasn't able to convert them. She will learn. There is no such thing of fair or unfair. That's competition.
After such an intense battle with no issue or incident, she could have shown a little sportsmanship towards Coco. She really went minimal with a cold handshake and a totally basic speech, not even mentioning the winner’s actual NAME which is shocking. She played a great match but she must be more professional and learn to deal with her bitterness and disappointment. Otherwise she’s going to feel very lonely on tour for the next 15 years…
You guys are sometimes too hard on these kids. People have different ways of dealing with disappointment. It isn't personal. Besides, she isn't an English speaker and might be uncomfortable using the language. You could see the grammatical errors in almost all her sentences which is understandable as she isn't a native English speaker . Maybe these tournaments should use more interpreters.
