YOO producer Charlotte Wilson weighed in on twitter and it turns out we were wrong- the song doesn't start at 133bpm and then slow down! It's actually super slow from the very BEGINNING and gradually speeds up till "check out"! PLEASE CAN I REQUEST YOU TO REACT TO INDIAN SONGS? I HAVE BEEN WATCHING YOUR REACTION CHANNEL FROM A LONG TIME,AND I LOVE YOU, GUYS, SO PLEASE CAN YOU GUYS DO ME THE FAVOUR TO REACT TO INDIAN SONGS😊😊😊😊
I am literally afraid to admit to people that I enjoyed the song so much from the first time listening to it because I would be called crazy 😭 (or be called a liar)
People are so annoying when it comes to people having a different taste of music then them. Like you’re allowed to love a song that they don’t like. Don’t be afraid to say you enjoyed the song. If someone comes at you you can come get me. I have no problem defending you. 😌
Same! I liked it on the first listen and it was on repeat for 4 days but whenever i tell people that I like it, they always say "oh you're just pretending to do it it's a bad song"😭 It's so damn annoying like let me enjoy the freakin song. I have a weird taste and i like savage, simon says, sticker so ofc i enjoy listening to O.O 😅
I love how Red Velvet's "Feel My Rythm" was just released and it's already put next in the schedule, because the first time I heard the song my immediate thought was "I need to see ReacttotheK opinion on this one" 😆
Honestly I can see why people don't really like this song. But It's also an enjoyable song for me. I'm already used to songs that changed genres suddenly. So it's fine to me. But I'm really worried cause some people calling people who enjoyed this song tasteless.
I grew up listening to music that change genres, beats, and experiment with different style in the same song. And now you think I'm gonna agree with you, but no, not at all. This song is tapping into the extremely short attention spam that the new generation have devolved into, just like what Next Level did, where people's brain forget the previous part when a new part starts, they focus on everything separately even if it's not supposed to be separated. This problem in the composition is caused by the actual and objective absence of a transition like it should have to connect everything together. People who dislike this song is not because they're not used to genre swapping, they dislike the song because they know it's lacking a lot to be considered a good composition. Those who like the song either don't care about well made music or are shills to the brands, they see a big name and just follow the crowd regardless of what it is.
@@charred6683 "Those who like the song either don't care about well made music or are shills to the brands, they see a big name and just follow the crowd regardless of what it is" 1. 15:26 2. 15:40
Agree, the hate towards this song is waaaaay too much. Sure it's not the best song ever but by any means it is not the worst, i would give it a solid 7, i like that they didn't do the typical debut, they took a risk.
I personally think the pause in the mv causes for more confusion because it creates the divide between the 2 parts of the song more evident. I didn't like the song when I initially heard it bc I watched the mv but when I listened to it on Spotify and the 2 sections were put side by side it wasn't as jarring to me
Yeah, a lot of ppl complain about the "superhero" section supposedly coming out of nowhere but don't know it was technically teased at the start w the first 100bpm section
You’re watching the same video? Because the classical musician clearly stated how there was no connection between different tempos and ideas. Listen 9:30
@@sidannial4161 "Not a lot of connection between *some* of the ideas" is a totally different statement to "No connection between any different ideas" btw Hes saying that some of the ideas could be better fleshed out in how they complement other sections, he's not saying that there's no connection to anything else
Agree with Sam about the trumpet, he put it into words what I feel. The Baila Baila part was a turn off for me, not a good loud. Middle section is great, I like that part a lot. Others are just okay. I don’t like some transitions, like before the last chorus and into it. Listening to it again now, I guess there’s more of it that I don’t like about this but it’s interesting, and also hear what reacttothek thinks and feel about it :)
Yeah this is exactly how I feel. I don’t like the chorus in the first and last section, and I think the transitions could’ve been more tactful. I understand the connections between the sections and I also think they were going for shock value (and honestly I think JYP is trying to recreate the success of AESPA and Next Level a bit) in the way they moved, but I don’t think just the sheer fact that the sections are connected in some way makes the transitions effective. Mostly it’s just the transition back that I don’t like. The transition into the middle I like a lot more now that I’ve listened to the official track without that pause. But yeah it’s interesting to hear what they had to say as a musician myself, and while the song had grown on me, I still don’t love it.
Then theres me, who only likes the 1st and last section and wished they made a full song with that sound 😂 I still think they shouldve made 2 separate songs, cause a lot of fans have been saying they only liked the middle donut shop part and not the rest.
I still really dislike the lyrics of the first 2 lines. Just reads like lazy writing. Idk just way too bizarre and awful to me. The rest of the song I like and I love the girls' talents.
@@user-ey6lq9qe3n it's so fucking weird along with the heavy keyboards. It reminds me of Die Antwoord whch I used to listen to back in the day so I loved it lol
Hi :) when I said “trap” I was only referring to the hi-hat sound the producers used, not referencing the actual genre of music! I’m SUPER unfamiliar with Brazilian funk. Upon further listening the “baile funk” pattern that the producers employed here is a two bar pattern similar to son clave, as opposed to the one bar pattern you typically see in reggaeton music. However, the first bar of that “baile funk” pattern sounds very similar to reggaeton. That’s why I was confused after only hearing it once. Hope that clears some things up!
I got used to it after listening to the final audio version...for some reason that silence in between the genre shifts was throwing me off...otherwise it was interesting...
This really helped me understand what people might find confusing about this song. I’ve been an 0.0 enjoyer from day one so I was struggling to understand what people were so confused about.
imo the first verse (haewon and bae's) was the most disappointing part of the song... felt like it could've been better constructed and mixed, it sounded a little off??? but everything else was great! i listen to a lot of "experimental" stuff and generally have a very welcoming approach on music, so the "confusing" and "terrible" comments didn't really make much sense to me
The first time I listened to it I was like WHAT THE HELL IS THIS on like the beginning and every transition but in a very good way. I could totally understand how some people could be very put off but what I can't understand is people saying the song is "meh" or "girl crush stereotype" like it literally is a mix of girl crush and weird club music and Brazilian funk and colourful upbeat Kpop like how can you say it's just a failed generic attempt at a trendy sound?
@@alvareo92 people are really firing off some crazy takes about this song, and while I understand this is more unorthodox than most, it really isn't that different from what's been going on in kpop right now. next level had a similar structure, o.o was just a little more experimental with the genres they chose to mix the mv did the song a disservice too, that gap really made it seem more disjointed and it's a shame because i actually enjoyed how they transitioned from one part to another. people make it seem like it came out of nowhere but i'd argue that the bridge on savage was even more out of left field 😭
I do not like this song, but I love listening to musicians react to interesting pieces of music. It makes me understand things better, and I'M LOVING THE EDITING
It's ok if you don't like it. Bcoz there are other people like me who like this song, and this is not something that can be forced 😊 And nice to know that at least you could enjoy their reaction 😁
Thanks, I really liked this reaction. After reading so many harsh words about this song I was looking forward to hear what you thought about! Always so knowledgable, always so insightful! Awesome!
my first time reaction to o.o, this song was kinda messy because of sudden beat change but after listening so many times, i really like it. their vocals, choreos and stage presences make this song even better and now o.o is one of my fav debut song all of time.
I liked the song at first listen. I even thought all the parts fits perfectly in the song. It's great that they are exploring different genres nowadays. Kpop has evolved so much and it's making me proud!
I've been waiting for this. The reactors inputs put my brain into deep understanding about the sections of the song and how the chords connect with each other. I feel so smart hahahaha
I’ll say this, I definitely don’t hate this song anymore 😂😂 it took me MANY listens but I really appreciate and love how they approached this song technically and my brain has made peace with its progression
@@Butterball2829 some are not forcing they are just understanding.. stop the hate! Literally.. it's been a month.. Let people enjoy this song so it can CHART EVEN HIGHER 😍😍😍😌😌😌💅💅😜😜👀👀👀
@Kadi was it the popcorn and zero coke part? bc if so, same 😂 but i did like the song from first listen, i just kept coming back to the first part of it and then grew to love the rest of the song even more
agree it also took me several listens to actually like the song for what it is, but I'm still not happy with the transition from 1st chorus to 2nd verse
@@bronksalaji some people do forcing themself for liking the song, tbh i kinda forcing myself to listen the song because i love lily sm but i'm still not ended up liking the song so i just support the member rather listen for the song now but i do really like tank.
when many kpop fans & typical 'kpop mv reactors' reacted to the song negatively but here's ReacttotheK liking the song plus giving us proper musical critiques. always one my fave reaction channels. thank you guys!
it always irritates me when kpop fans act like they know music chucking words left and right like "off beat" "not mixed well" "badly arranged" etc. while not knowing even the first thing about music (apparently not even how to count to 4 because according to them sticker is off beat when it is consistently the same) i get this song is confusing to most people and i understand why people don't like it, but people are criticising it without any musical knowledge and are saying shit that don't make sense 😭 like how is this badly mixed
@@davidmarclouiseencabo8072 I don't you need musical expertise to know what sounds good to you and what doesn't. Though I do agree some can be pretentious.
@@szdraa You also gotta know that just cause some musicians in this video enjoyed it, it doesnt mean other musicians will think the same. Someone else also pointed out, just cause its intellectually interesting, doesnt mean it emotionally is. Just cause something follows a beat or is interesting to experts ears, as that is their job, doesnt mean the outcome is pleasing or good? Thats like someone making a salad where every ingredient is healthy and people saying its the most bland unsatisfying salad ever, but because 1 dietitian said "wow thats healthy" all the criticism is nullified cause others arent "experts"? When the criticism never even was about it being a healthy salad, but a TASTY salad. Same with this song, peple are pointing out that compared to other songs like these (all of SM) this one was done very oddly. Yes the transitions are there, beat there, and professional musicians ears might find it fascinating, but fascinating doesnt mean it sounds good or people cant say they dislike it. Cause the point of a song in the end is making a song people want to and enjoy listening to, not what song can please professional only ears. Most people have even said they loved the donut shop part and wished that was its own song, whilst other like me think the 1st and last part couldve been a great song OR if they shortened the donut shop part it wouldve blended in better. You even saw one of the musicians in the video be shocked that they kept going for so long with the donut shop mid section. Its not something people do in proper "weird mix" songs, because it makes people forget the other part even exists if it goes on for so long and makss it more jarring. I wouldve loved the song if they switched back to the 1st part after the swinging section in the donut shop, but they decided to add another section afterwards which makes it very long and then suddenly the end is just them saying the same words over and over again. You dont need to be a musician to know that wont be pleasing to most peoples ears, and just cause a song was technically made correctly doesnt mean it works. If someone gave me a bowl of tofu, spinach, almonds, quinoa and avocado and told me its healthy, I still wouldnt enjoy it when its clearly not seasoned properly even if its checks of the boxes and the rules for a good salad. Keep in mind I actually support NMIXX and still listen to the song (only for the start of the song tho) and love their bside Tank, but that doesnt mean people criticizing the song need to be musicians lmao
@@yulana990 i think i worded what i meant to say in a weird way. i never said people can't dislike it, i understand why they do, but they throw around words that make no sense to justify their hate towards the girls- i have seen some vile stuff being said that was just not necessary. that was my point. i personally enjoy noise music a lot and i always get excited for experimental releases, but i know that's not what a lot of people enjoy. the thing that irks me is people saying things that don't make sense. i could not care less about whether or not someone doesn't like a song, but these are the same people attacking those who do enjoy it while not even being able to count four beats twice over. this was the thing with sticker too and next level and i could go on. i know what you mean and i agree with you, perhaps i didn't articulate what i meant to say well enough. yes you don't need to be a musician to criticise it, but at the same time, if you're going to act like you know what you're talking about (like in terms of being off beat or transitions or syncopation and whatever else people like to comment on) then at least know what those actually mean, and also be aware that songs don't have to follow the same generic chord progression and bpm structure, because otherwise it sounds kinda weird. it's like if i was criticising someone's cooking while not knowing what half the words i'm throwing around mean and not actually knowing how to cook- acting like a know it all when i know absolutely nothing about cooking. i can say i dislike it yes. but if i decided to take apart the way someone prepared a dish, then i'd just look like a mug. i know it's not that deep, but when some people get bold with their opinions and think theirs is superior and everyone jumps on the bandwagon, and starts hating others for not agreeing, it gets very annoying.
I'm so used to O.O getting hate that this reaction was a positive surprise, even though I knew the ReactToTheK reactors would appreciate it much more I was also ready for some harsh critiques so to see so many of them enjoy and praise it was an amazing experience
*the reason why this is such a complex song because it doesn't follow the basic bpm arrangement, some parts are not on your typical song writing arrangement plus you add in a vibe change and genre change then obviously alot of people will talk, anyhow this is a very unique song and a very unique GG* 🔥
I finished this video with a tear almost coming down my left eye, with how much I enjoyed these reactions/analyses! It feels so wholesome to have people who dedicate their lives to music, making you feel understood and not an alien for finding for loving this MV... Thank you!!!!
as a retired musician, i love this song; it’s so addicting and their stellar performance makes it even more addicting. and i loved the way the mv complimented and emphasized the switch. it was like Narnia, going through a portal to a drastically different world. i get why people hate on it but i would say they missed the point of the song & mv. people are free to dislike the song; i just feel like people are being a little excessive and unfair w the way they’ve been expressing their hatred of the song.
Yeah, it is the first time I see hate comment just bcoz they don't like the song. What they did wasn't state their opinion but humiliate the song, and maybe bcoz they are afraid that their favs will lose to them *lol :p
FACT: I'm a musician ALSO FACT: There is nobody who can really fully comprehend NMIXX and their music, no not even musicians. But that is what makes NMIXX so unique! First, their sound and style MIXXPOP is meant to break musical standards and norms. Second, you will never know what they'll do next. Unlike other artists whose songs pretty much sound the same every comeback. This is why they made a statement with their debut song o.o . The song was a literal teaser, both conceptually and lyrically. A teaser of what NMIXX is capable of, and man are they more than capable. This group is not talented! They are skillfull... Because talent you may or may not be born with. But these girls are skillfull, due to the fact that they worked so hard not only just so they could debut, but they continue to improve. I believe that there is no limit to what NMIXX can and will do. They are true artists who stay true to their craft, regardless of what other people say and tell them to do. No compromise!
Always love the editings: The memes, the funny pics, distorted face, the written and the illustrated theories, etc. I'm enjoying this channel so muchh 😍
i love the instrumentals of this song. i mean SM raised me to enjoy this kind of songs. 😂 and oh boy! i'm excited for your reaction to "feel my rhythm". i know i love the song but something feels weird. it's so overwhelming.
The owl editing cracked me up! 😂😂 Also I love that you're keeping in the impromptu Spanish lesson and spongebob singing, feels nice to see those natural/random conversations y'all have along with the music analysis and thoughts :) Looking forward to this video already
THANK YOU for understanding that in kpop, it's not only about music. This debut clearly was a taste of the group's identity, it showed fans what direction they intend to follow, their concept, and versatility. It was never SUPPOSED to be cohesive, it was supposed to be jarring, interesting, intriguing and make people look out for their next song to see what they have in store for us. Mission accomplished tbh, so props to all the JYP team for that!
Sorry, out of topic. Cant wait for you guys to Red Velvet's new song "Feel My Rhythm". Thankyou Umu ❤️ Edit : i comment this before i finish this video btw sorry 😅
Thank you so much for making this video. I always hear people saying that the production was bad, but that's not true. In terms of music taste, it might not be everyone's favourite, but the composers did A LOT, musically, and it's quite complicated as well.
As always, I appreciate the analysis. What a nice mix of thoughts. Personally, I do not care for this song at all, but I still like to hear what people who actually know music think about it. So yeah. You're doing great, keep going. :)
the song literally functions as a teaser for nmixx future comebacks and what they are capable of and i loved how all your reactions at the end of the song showed that (theres the literal lyrics 'its just a teaser' in the song) and it really makes me want to see what nmixx and their producers and company have planned for th efuture
I only heard bad stuff about this song I don't even give it a try, but after hearing it's not that weird. I guess the shock Sticker gave me make me used to something like this
@@nurruddinaniqz.r.a597 Yeah Sticker is more enjoyable, it just I got used to something weird after I heard Sticker. If I never heard Sticker before maybe this song will give me the shock Sticker gave.
The breakdown for the final genre switch was really informative. I originally thought the tempo/metric change happened with the scene change but the fact that it's delayed makes the moment both confusing and satisfying. Also, can't wait for Feel My Rhythm. As I listened to it, I was thinking "There's that modal mixture. ReacttotheK is gonna have a field day with this one."
yess actual musician knowledge!! the producers of the song really thought things out and not just play around in the studio like what the haters assumed when this was released
Listening to this song now after DICE makes me want this style back because, sure it was out there as a song, but you get used to it and it's unique. It made them stand out and I wish they kept that sound.
After so many hate comments about this debut, I'm SO HAPPY that you guys reacted to this. Especially everyone who gave constructive criticism. You could clearly see that everyone enjoyed something about this, some even all but it's well explained for casuals like most of us who don't really understand why so much going on in this song.
Wow thanks for breaking it down for us non musicians! I appreciate the editing that went into this - super helpful to understand the concepts esp when you were isolating the instruments and illustrating the tempo onscreen. Thanks to everyone who helped us understand why we were so confused. ❤ Haha
When I first heard the song I knew it was sorta funky But not bad. I just ignored all other reactors cause I didn’t think they could appreciate it. I’m used to enjoying Stray kids experimental stuff that got hated on by a lot of people and if reacttotheK can listen to that and be enthusiastic and respectful and give great musical insight then I knew they’d have a really insightful cool reaction to this song.
had this song just been two separate songs I would’ve loved both of them but them together and the execution just wasn’t my most favorite thing in the world. extremely talented group though
Really enjoyed this reaction! When a song like this comes out one of the first things I wait for are your reactions to it because of how so much stuff is happening with the songs. It was really insightful and I was happy with the way things were explained and broken down. Personally, I really enjoyed the song when I first heard it and still can't get enough of it. Now hearing the analysis as well from you guys gives me a whole different level of appreciation now.
It's well-produced, visually stunning, and the girls do a great job. It's just kinda meh. It's one of those things, where this works as a performance, but as a piece of music, it's forgettable. It has so many good ingredients, but it comes out of the oven overbaked and a bit burnt. "Too many cooks in the Kitchen" kinda deal. It's intellectually interesting, but emotionally empty. The good thing is, they are great performers, well-trained talented entertainers, and I have no doubt, that with the right songs they can make a really big impact on the scene.
"intellectually interesting but emotionally empty" is so true for me. Just found it hard to connect with the song and I don't know when I am going to need or want to listen to it.
I liked it because I enjoy some very weird experimental music and I also love Kpop so this was perfect for me. Maybe it doesn't communicate something coherent or poignant, but the craziness really resonates with me, it most definitely gives me an emotional reaction (not intellectual; I usually don't like art where you can tell it was primarily an intellectual exercise) that I keep coming back to. Just a matter of preference!
Some of us are passionate about the “intellectually interesting” and it has emotional value in a different way than what other people like you are usually looking for. Like it was forgettable for you because you don’t value the things it brings but some of us like the ppl in the video do value them.
When I first heard this song, and I think a lot of people had a similar experience, it was just too much to digest, I finished watching the MV at first without remembering anything about the song because it was just too much going on haha. But after seeing this video, a lot of things made more sense, especially the very beginning of the song that always makes me feel weird and now I realize it's because of the lyrics being extremely offbeat. ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS VIDEO 10000/10 I WAS COMPLETELY 🤯🤯🤯 WATCHING IT THANK YOU
@@nonjabulomangoro1871 exactly!!! it took me some listens to remember any part at all, and it was the "baila baila" part that got stuck after a while 😂
Girl our take on this song is almost identical lol. It is just too much to digest. But for me this reaction video didn't really make the whole song make more sense, it just helped me to understand that there are lots of fancy technicalities in it and it's definitely not a sloppy production.
The part that I don't really like the most is the chorus 'balla balla" part, I don't like the composing and instrumental choices. I'm agree with Sam, that trumpet sounds is so disturbing, in the 'balla balla' chorus, I think it's either misplaced or the sound is just not harmonize well with the other instruments inthat part, also I'm sorry to say this but I hope THE HUB stop using that cheap trumpet sounds, they've used it a lot in their productions actually.
They will be like fx. Too ahead of its time, people call it weird. Then in a couple of years it will be called genius. As a SNSD fan who survived the IGAB era that was full of madness, O.O isn’t too overwhelming.
I wouldn't call it ahead of its time since this is something that had been done before by different groups, and just like IGAB, rn and in the future, there will be always people who'd call it genius or a disaster, it a taste thing I would say
the fact that i dont like the intro bc jinni isnt rapping on any beat but they like it about that is so fascinating. ig as a dancer im biased towards on beat where they can appreciate the music
At first i really didn't like this song but after listening to it continues time iam in love with this song. This song is so unique also the vocals, visual of the girls are so good 😍
wow, their explanations of the beat changes and the other stuffs made even more like the song and now im even more stunned from those beat changes then before
They are vocally saved by Lily because her vocal tone isn't usually heard in kpop. It adds an interesting sound to their group vocals. The freshness of her voice is a very good welcome.
@@mbae123 thank you sincerely for your kind words 💕 the fact that I've never had any training and that I'm the same age as lily makes me super nervous, and as much as I want to do my best, I'm trying to overcome self hatred and improve my mentality before I audition. Nothing scares me more than failure though, I tried so hard to get here, but it feels like my story has already ended before the first chapter was even written
Thank you guys for giving O.O a fair shake. It is far from a perfect song but it is also not the worst debut ever that so many people claimed. A good subjective analysis is always appreciated.
I find what Ravi said towards the end about it being a representation of virtuality very interesting, especially because the middle section's lyrics dissect a world of the new metaverse.
Aside from great explanation from the team, another thing I appreciate is the editing. It makes it easier for us to understand what each person is talking about. Super thank you, Umu and the whole team~
I honestly love this song. It’s so addictive and the more you listen to it, the better it gets. The MV and choreo are also really cool. It’s nice to hear good reviews of it. The song is getting so much unnecessary hate. I can’t wait to see what they do next
It is so sad ToT And I think it's only happened in KPop. Maybe becoz of tough competition which made the fans gone crazy everytime a new group appear with so much potential, like them for example.
This song GREW on me after not listening to the MV version and switching to the one with no silence. Seeing the technical breakdown (Espically by Seth) made me appreciate this so much more as it genuinely is a bridge between musicians and people who genuinely have no idea WHY it works.
I love rewatching this video. It’s so fun to hear everyone talk about this song and why it’s interesting to the listener. Plus, “wait, is this a coke commercial” gets me every time lol!
It's been 2 years but I've gotta say I still love that rug pull at the start of the song so much. That sudden meter change always takes me back to the first time I ever listened to this song, I was getting into the pulse of the intro and as soon as it changed I whipped my head back around to the front like "woah what just happened". Like it felt like a deliberate move to make sure you were paying attention.
I think this is a good song, my biggest thing is that it doesn't feel complete. The 180 that they do in the middle of the song puts a big divider in it. so when it circles back around to the more intense beat, it doesn't feel like a continuation, it feels like a really awkward mashup. The parts are too different. If they had been able to connect them by adding more harmonies to the intense part or adding more intense raps to the mellow part, it could have been a bit less noticeable. That and the lyrics are such a wreck. It feels like there's a bunch of background we're supposed to know to actually understand the lyrics, but they haven't really expanded their universe. Like with Aespa, their lyrics make more sense if you have even a vague understanding of Kwangya, which has been previously expanded on. And the random english parts are too much. It's like the songwriters sat down and looked up "English Onomatopoeias", then tried to fit as many in as they could. I just ( T - T ) All that said, these girls are great performers and I do anticipate what they do next. I think it was very smart of JYPE to make O.O their debut song because it gets people talking. It's absolutely unexpected and that draws people in. I go around dancing to the "tap-tap... knock-knock..." part because it's so catchy. It's a wreck, but it's an entertaining one. The chaos draws you in and leaves you going O.O
yes exactly. I doesnt matter to me when they made a name of this genre MIXPOP but calling this genre is "new genre" when SM already do this kind of genre for their artist is teribble to me. Is like JYP is in denial that SM already use this "new genre" long time ago.
@Tralala_Beez it's actually the mixing are smoother for those SM’s song you mentioned while in this song, I found the mixing and changes of genre are so abrupt and threw you off. Even Next Level has smoother transition going in to to slower tempo and back to faster tempo. And Next Level are the song that threw me off from three songs you mentioned.
tank is also super cool and also does something like the intro in the prechorus!!!! its one of the many things about it that are musically interesting but basically it just. cuts a beat and places it in another place, so its 4/4 3/4 4/4 5/4. u should put it as a future reaction for sure
You never failed to impress me guys!!!! I am waiting for you to give us your insight about this song! Personally, I really really like the song when it first came out, I can of O.O too when I heard the different sections but I am loving it, maybe because I was watching you guys react to different songs and analyze the song production, beats, rhythm and everything that made me love this song because I definitely try to encode how it was made! I am not so much familiar about music production but all I know is that it was really unique and fun like playing a rubik's cube! Thank you guys for your reaction!
my best friend is a music producer and learn classical piano. knows kpop briefly but nothing about nmixx. i introduced him to nmixx with o.o. and at the end he said "give me more of them. I WANT MORE"💀💀💀💀💀💀
Oh my god I'm waiting for this since the song itself is kinda interesting for me in terms of its arrangement so I want to have an idea of what your reaction would be for this song!
It's like the starting chapter in a music film to me + the feeling of something missing at the end = a nice intro to a group because you have a glimpse of how the group will be like and want more from the group. Just like you wanna know what will happen next at the beginning of a movie. For me, it is a good choice as a debut song but it would be better if it is the first song of a full-length album.

Finally, so over just listening to "oh that feels bad i don't like it", finally!!! Some critical thinking!! Rachel and Liam really shone here, it really helped to hear the metric mod.
“The ideas doesn’t have any connection with each other, no cohesion” EXACTLY. This is coming from someone who LOVE and listens to Sticker and Next Level, yet i was so not into O.O that i didn't give a chance to listen to it again. I admit the chorus can be addictive because of how many people played the song on tiktok, it did stuck on my head for a while but it's just not a good song for me in my opinion. Not to mention JYPE claiming this is a new genre in kpop industry where SM did this kind of mix genres long time ago. It left a more bitter taste to me. Nevertheless, i wouldn't deny NMIXX was a girl group who have so much talents to show. I don't mind JYPE going experimental on this girl if that is what they aimed to do, JUST DO IT RIGHT because i am anticipating for this girl group and curious about their future releases.
nah fr bc like at least next level's switches were cohesive n still somehow worked, but the changed in this song are so abrupt n not enjoyable what so ever... i feel bad for those girls tbh
This is why I couldn’t get into this song. As an SM fan in though I would love it but it’s the lack of connection between the parts that makes me not like it.
So glad I found this reaction. I enjoyed and had fun with the song from the first listen because I also saw it as "telling a story"--I heard and visually saw the 1st and 2nd sections as moving into a different places, rather than "this is a single cohesive song"? In general I see the whole piece as an introduction to the group and what ideas they are going to bring, not as an indicator of what every song NMIXX releases is going to be structured like. People keep comparing it to I Gotta Boy, but that I see as functioning as one whole song. I viewed this more like a movie with different interesting scenes and an epic finish. I think it's fair to be confused because you hear it as one entire song; I hear it more like a medley. I even think it's fair to just not like how it sounds. What I don't think is fair is people clearly trashing it or hating on it just because they want to feel superior for stanning "a better group" or whatever reason lol 🙄🤷🏻♀️ Anyway. Hope what I said made sense. 😅 I enjoyed the video! Thanks guys 🤗
Can’t wait to see u guys react to Red Velvet’s latest mv Feel My Rhythm!!!! Really curious what’s ur reaction when you all hear Bach’s piece merged into pop music.
The title is basically the Majority of people O.O and myself with that Coca-Cola Product Placement -_-. I didn't even think this would even get a review. The song is the Album Medley you can't change my mind about it. I came just to support and to listen actually people who know how to dissect this song.
O.O is definitely a grower! i remember a lot of people absolutely bashed it when it came out, saying that JYP was ruining these girls' potential. i didn't like it at the time either, i felt like there was way too much going on. but after a few listens, it kinda felt like watching a movie with some major plot twists. the song is just exciting to listen to, no matter how many times you've heard it before! lily's high note leading back into genre switch still gives me chills. it's a pity so many people still think this was a bad song and JYP seems to be straying away from the mix-genre concept now, giving NMIXX more regular kpop songs. their recent comebacks were not it for me, i wish they'd make more songs like this, regardless of what the general public says.
Sorry for saying this but the comment section suddenly made me realize how sad our society nowadays, like why should we feel afraid to admit that people can have different music taste? So if we like this song, we're now "forced" to like it? Well not everyone act the same of course.. some people probably should go and read skz maniac lyrics, just to say "being different is fine". Anyway, thank you very much for the reaction! Always love how I got more insight and knowledge about music from you guys!
YOO producer Charlotte Wilson weighed in on twitter and it turns out we were wrong- the song doesn't start at 133bpm and then slow down! It's actually super slow from the very BEGINNING and gradually speeds up till "check out"! The Hub will be making a video about it soon, i'll link it here when it's up 🙌

The guy drumming at 13:07 to the beat was so good and it felt so satisfying to hear.
I didnt know the tempo of the different section had a connection and not just random tempos mixed. Great reaction from the musicians :D
Yeah, a lot of ppl complain about the "superhero" section supposedly coming out of nowhere but don't know it was technically teased at the start w the first 100bpm section

@@glxoi COM CERTEZA
Hi :) when I said “trap” I was only referring to the hi-hat sound the producers used, not referencing the actual genre of music! I’m SUPER unfamiliar with Brazilian funk. Upon further listening the “baile funk” pattern that the producers employed here is a two bar pattern similar to son clave, as opposed to the one bar pattern you typically see in reggaeton music. However, the first bar of that “baile funk” pattern sounds very similar to reggaeton. That’s why I was confused after only hearing it once. Hope that clears some things up!

me too! it was only the first line that threw me off and the long gap in the mv, the whole song is so cohesive and beautiful
imo the first verse (haewon and bae's) was the most disappointing part of the song... felt like it could've been better constructed and mixed, it sounded a little off??? but everything else was great! i listen to a lot of "experimental" stuff and generally have a very welcoming approach on music, so the "confusing" and "terrible" comments didn't really make much sense to me
The first time I listened to it I was like WHAT THE HELL IS THIS on like the beginning and every transition but in a very good way.
@@alvareo92 people are really firing off some crazy takes about this song, and while I understand this is more unorthodox than most, it really isn't that different from what's been going on in kpop right now. next level had a similar structure, o.o was just a little more experimental with the genres they chose to mix
the mv did the song a disservice too, that gap really made it seem more disjointed and it's a shame because i actually enjoyed how they transitioned from one part to another. people make it seem like it came out of nowhere but i'd argue that the bridge on savage was even more out of left field 😭

it always irritates me when kpop fans act like they know music chucking words left and right like "off beat" "not mixed well" "badly arranged" etc. while not knowing even the first thing about music (apparently not even how to count to 4 because according to them sticker is off beat when it is consistently the same)

@@szdraa they be getting smart when throwing hates🤓 but when slapped with the truth they will ignore it🥴
@@davidmarclouiseencabo8072 I don't you need musical expertise to know what sounds good to you and what doesn't.

"It's intellectually interesting, but emotionally empty". Thank you for these words. It is just completely my thoughts.
Like it was forgettable for you because you don’t value the things it brings but some of us like the ppl in the video do value them.
ur bullshitting
HONESTLY I DON'T LINK THE FIRST VERSE BUT THEY HOOKED ME ON 2ND VERSE AND CHORUS AND I LIKE THEIR POWERFUL VOCALS TOO
When I first heard this song, and I think a lot of people had a similar experience, it was just too much to digest, I finished watching the MV at first without remembering anything about the song because it was just too much going on haha. But after seeing this video, a lot of things made more sense, especially the very beginning of the song that always makes me feel weird and now I realize it's because of the lyrics being extremely offbeat.
ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS VIDEO 10000/10 I WAS COMPLETELY 🤯🤯🤯 WATCHING IT THANK YOU
I always forget what this song sounds like until I hear it again. Which is frustrating because I vividly remember cool parts of the choreography. 😭🤣🤣
@@nonjabulomangoro1871 exactly!!! it took me some listens to remember any part at all, and it was the "baila baila" part that got stuck after a while 😂
And our face after watch this video also become (O.O)
@@bella11110 fragmented songs have been done. But not a song like O.O
@@Esandeech2 that's arguable
the fact that i dont like the intro bc jinni isnt rapping on any beat but they like it about that is so fascinating. ig as a dancer im biased towards on beat where they can appreciate the music
O.O is just the reaction everyone gets after listening to it once.
At first i really didn't like this song but after listening to it continues time iam in love with this song. This song is so unique also the vocals, visual of the girls are so good 😍
wow, their explanations of the beat changes and the other stuffs made even more like the song and now im even more stunned from those beat changes then before
Same! It is a whole experience, right! 😁 Learning something new is really enjoyable 😁
They are vocally saved by Lily because her vocal tone isn't usually heard in kpop. It adds an interesting sound to their group vocals. The freshness of her voice is a very good welcome.
I have a voice of that tone too so I'm glad to see your comment, wish me luck on my auditions 🤗
@@sam_sa09 Goodluck girl. May you pass the evals!
@@mbae123 thank you so much, I just got to Seoul this month, but I'm super conscious about my age
@@sam_sa09 thats okay as long as you do your best. Just trust your instincts and watch out if its going to harm you or not.
@@mbae123 thank you sincerely for your kind words 💕 the fact that I've never had any training and that I'm the same age as lily makes me super nervous, and as much as I want to do my best, I'm trying to overcome self hatred and improve my mentality before I audition. Nothing scares me more than failure though, I tried so hard to get here, but it feels like my story has already ended before the first chapter was even written
i came back here because i had a class today where my teacher talked about hemiola, now I'll think about nmixx every time i hear about it✨
Thank you guys for giving O.O a fair shake. It is far from a perfect song but it is also not the worst debut ever that so many people claimed. A good subjective analysis is always appreciated.
I find what Ravi said towards the end about it being a representation of virtuality very interesting, especially because the middle section's lyrics dissect a world of the new metaverse.
raffi's "it was a lot, I just went through a lot" :D I had the exact same first reaction after seeing and listening to this track
Aside from great explanation from the team, another thing I appreciate is the editing. It makes it easier for us to understand what each person is talking about. Super thank you, Umu and the whole team~
FINALLYYY! Loved this song at first listen so I'm excited to hear musicians' thoughts! 💖
I honestly love this song. It’s so addictive and the more you listen to it, the better it gets. The MV and choreo are also really cool. It’s nice to hear good reviews of it. The song is getting so much unnecessary hate. I can’t wait to see what they do next
not admitting that i loved the song at first listen in fear of being judged 💀
Us😭
True😭
It is so sad ToT And I think it's only happened in KPop. Maybe becoz of tough competition which made the fans gone crazy everytime a new group appear with so much potential, like them for example.
It’s not good
This song GREW on me after not listening to the MV version and switching to the one with no silence. Seeing the technical breakdown (Espically by Seth) made me appreciate this so much more as it genuinely is a bridge between musicians and people who genuinely have no idea WHY it works.
Whether I like a song or not, these videos always make me appreciate it so much more.
I love rewatching this video. It’s so fun to hear everyone talk about this song and why it’s interesting to the listener.
Plus, “wait, is this a coke commercial” gets me every time lol!
I lost my shit when you have the transcription of how it change it back to baila baila baila in 13:08 - this whole reaction is so impressive
I just ( T - T )
All that said, these girls are great performers and I do anticipate what they do next.
Being SM stan myself, this song was kinda "normal" to me and i love it🤣 but i just hate it when jyp said "its a new genre" cause IT IS NOT and cringe
yes exactly.
Sm don't mix genres though.. Sm just changes beats yet still a single song
However JYP just added 2 songs with different genres in 1 by mixing it
@@manydaaa123 dude dont me start. im busy enough right now🤣 go do some sm music history study urself
@@nvis_9001 sorry not interested
tank is also super cool and also does something like the intro in the prechorus!!!! its one of the many things about it that are musically interesting but basically it just. cuts a beat and places it in another place, so its 4/4 3/4 4/4 5/4. u should put it as a future reaction for sure
I'll waiting for your react to Red Velvet's new song 'Feel My Rhythm' 😬👌🏻🙏🏻
the editing in the first half of this video was the highlight of my day
Really really waiting for their reaction on red velvets feel my rythm
It takes us about 2-3 weeks to produce a classical musicians react video! FMR reaction in April is the fastest we can do 😭👍
@@ReacttotheK ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@ReacttotheK it's alright !!! I'll be waiting for it 🥰
@@ReacttotheK i will wait for it, u guys should react to the song..
my best friend is a music producer and learn classical piano. knows kpop briefly but nothing about nmixx. i introduced him to nmixx with o.o. and at the end he said "give me more of them.
I knew you'd react to this song. I actually didn't like it at first so I was hoping you would react to this so I would understand what was happening in the song. Also waiting for subs!
Subs will be up in a day or two :)
SM be like : No thats not how you do it
Finally, so over just listening to "oh that feels bad i don't like it", finally!!! Some critical thinking!! Rachel and Liam really shone here, it really helped to hear the metric mod.
Yeah, so many people don't understand what is the term of criticism yet act like know it all
Definitely a crazy song. I was ready for that Feel My Rhythm video on the end screen only to realize it hasn’t been uploaded yet 😭😭😭
Sticker was a terrible song. So jarring. But the chorus vocals were nice.
Still don’t like this song but this was interesting nonetheless! 🤣 Definitely agree that the middle section was the best.
I love this song, the choreo just makes it 100 times better. Loved the reactions. After so much hate for the song I feel safe in here lol
I truly think the only think that ruined the song to ppl is the pause they did in the middle. in the audio it sounds way better
Honestly so many MVs do that and it always bothers me like,, just let me listen to the song
This reaction really helps O.O to be more understandable. The song have been climbing up the chart.
IM SO HAPPY YOU GUYS DID THIS SONG ❤️
after watching this, my O.O perspective broadened a lot.
There's definitely parts of the song I love and others I don't but I can appreciate it for what it is
O.O is definitely a grower! i remember a lot of people absolutely bashed it when it came out, saying that JYP was ruining these girls' potential. i didn't like it at the time either, i felt like there was way too much going on. but after a few listens, it kinda felt like watching a movie with some major plot twists. the song is just exciting to listen to, no matter how many times you've heard it before! lily's high note leading back into genre switch still gives me chills.
it's a pity so many people still think this was a bad song and JYP seems to be straying away from the mix-genre concept now, giving NMIXX more regular kpop songs. their recent comebacks were not it for me, i wish they'd make more songs like this, regardless of what the general public says.
Can't wait for their reaction to dice!
