Pat, I haven't seen any really good movies in many, many years. My favorite all time movie is the James Bond classic: "Goldfinger," which came out in 1964. Hello Pat. I can relate to your childhood movie experiences. My brother and I went nearly every weekend. This was roughly 1964 to '69. Parents didn't have to worry for the safety of their children then. The creeps and nuts were in jail or mental institutions and the ones that weren't knew full well not to even think about anything untoward or away they would go and no mercy. No matter how often we went the fun never diminished. Always an exciting time. We had two Drive-in theaters as well. In the summer on Friday or Saturday evenings the whole family ( Mom, Dad and four kids ) would stop at the root beer stand and have Spanish hot dogs, fries and a frosty cold mug of root beer. Then to the drive-in at dusk with the stars coming out and the fireflies blinking, and the mosquitoes biting. Lol That experience had it's own brand of magic memories. On the Sunday before school started the State Theater would give every kid a box of school supplies. Pencils, erasers, ruler, protractor and a tablet. I'm so grateful for my wonderful childhood. Well Pat, here's to unclogged sinks! Gary

I hope you get your plumbing fixed and will be back in working order Monday evening. Great video today. Your lipstick matched your top. 😊 Have a great Saturday evening watching old movies. Granny Pat, if you have Netflix, the Remake of “Rebecca” is absolutely outstanding! I was hesitant at first because I didn’t want to be unfaithful to the Original, but man, I was surprised! I actually watched it three times! Otherwise, I stick to the oldies but goodies, many available for free here on RUclips ❤️ when we were kids saying at my Granny’s, in a teeny tiny town in Oklahoma, we would go to the show every Saturday and then to Ben Franklins for a cherry coke. My Granny was on a party line back then, and we would get so frustrated with the little old ladies gossiping about who shot John, when we had important business like finding out what was on at the show😂😂😂those clothes look like Madame Alexander type clothes. I'm 27 years old and have two daughters under two. In my early childhood, I was lucky to be influenced by a group of elderly neighborhood women, the last of their generation. They sang songs like "Yes! We have no bananas!" "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles," etc., and played canasta together on Friday afternoons. They spoke about two types of potatoes: "arsh" and "sweet." I was just a little boy, 4 or 5 years old, but I loved their company, and I think they enjoyed mine too.
Now, years later, my daughters are being influenced by those ladies through me. My almost 2-year-old loves the song "Single Girl, Married Girl" by the Carter Family. We eat soup beans every Monday. My point is, a lot of what was good about years gone by will live on -- thank goodness! And your channel, I'm SURE, is facilitating some of that preservation.

I have a Brother who is gone now, but if he were living he would be 88 this year in Nov.. I have a set of beautiful dishes with Roses on them he won at the show house when he was about 12. Jimmy was my oldest brother. He had 4 girls and 3 boys. One day he was at mom’s when I was there. Those dishes had been in a Cupboard for 40 years. I said mom you should give Jimmy those dishes to take home. He spoke up and said Bonnie you can have them. That was a nice surprise for me. I guess he figured he couldn’t go home with one set of dishes having 4 girls. Lol He always was nice to me. BL

Its a beautiful story (in my opinion) and romantic enough to also classify as a "chick flick". THe film also has two young Australian actors that are really good... The actors from the 1940-1960s you listed are some of my favourites as well, although I didn't grow up in that era. I just watched Sunset Boulevard for the umpteenth time so I could introduce it to my daughter. It never gets old and Gloria Swanson has a new fan in my daughter. I also love silent movies -- Buster Keaton is one of my favourite actors/directors from that era. Winnipeg once had many theatres like the Hippodrome Theatre from your teenage years. Many of them still exist today, but not as theatres. Some are stores, another is a live performance venue, and one has even been turned into a bowling alley! In most cases, the architecture of these old theatres has been preserved while their use has been re-imagined. If I had a time machine, I would go back to the 1950s and spend the day movie theatre hopping, eating popcorn and taking in the latest films. 🍿📽
