I would like to raise my hand and also praise Dimensions kits. I started on them, I loved them then and I love them now. Will likely always love them. I don’t mind the crunchiness of the Aida. I sort of prefer the stiffness. And like you, I throw it in a Qsnap and just get on with it. I do hate sorting floss, but it’s part of the journey and it helps me to get excited to stitch the project because of all of the pretty colors. I will always have a kit of some sort on the go. I just love them.
I love you and you are always in my thoughts. 🖤🔮🖤

I do love that the newer kits come with pre-sorted floss! I'm happy to skip that part of the journey, but it won't keep me from sorting floss when I have to.

Love your attitude ! I agree with you as far as always buying the “Best” ... I think the project is the deciding factor . Also I’m a huge arts, crafts and maker of all kinds needlework , quilting and on and on ... if I were to buy the best of everything I would need to stop buying groceries !

I have stitched many Dimensions kits and love their designs. I have only had one where I completely ran out of floss on several colors and used DMC from my stash. My biggest problem with their fabric isn’t so much as the stiffness but how small they are. You can barely use a hoop or qsnap near the edges. I always swap the fabric out.

I actually like working on stiff aida. It’s a tactile sensation that I really like

Hi all. I’m just learning to cross stitch and kits have been awesome. I learned you can soak the Aida to make it soft. What is everyone’s favorite brands for kits? I’m looking for a count higher than 14 and full coverage. I just know of dimensions gold but would love to get your recommendations.

I love Riolis just as much as I love Dimensions Gold. They use fewer colors, but the shading creates great effects.

I have a question that maybe you can answer since I'm not quite sure where to ask it. Are Dimensions kits (and Riolis kits too, while we're at it) made using licensed artwork, where it's okay to do the kits on camera, or is there a degree of risk on some of them with getting slapped with a copyright strike notice? I only ask since this has been a thing that's come up in the diamond art community a bit lately and I wasn't sure if it was also starting to crop up in the cross stitch corner of RUclips too (since I have a stash of kits I've had sitting around for almost a decade that I'd happily do on camera if there's no worry about that happening).

To the best of my knowledge ( and I'm definitely not an expert!) both Dimensions and Riolis are legitimate companies that properly license their artwork. I haven't heard of any cross stitchers getting copyright strikes showing kits from established companies...although I did watch some of the diamond painting videos that explains the problem and it definitely concerns me.
There are companies selling cross stitch kits with stolen artwork, but I trust both Riolis and Dimensions. And as my son just pointed out, you can get a copyright strike for absolutely anything because people are stupid.

@@romantictangle Your son makes a good point. I've been on RUclips for 14 years and I've generally been pretty lucky on that one, but I did get someone once false submitting a copyright strike claiming I was using their personal information........literally for something they had freely visible publicly online knowingly. It was later overturned by the RUclips powers that be, but still. I've seen more and more people getting copyright claims on things involving images lately so I've been concerned about doing things like these, but I'm hopeful that these type of videos would fall under fair use and as you say, they might drum up more business for the companies in question. I think almost all the kits I have in my collection are Dimensions kits (I only just became aware of Riolis and definitely want to buy from them though) so I'm glad that they're legitimate companies that license their artwork. I was pretty sure on that front about Dimensions, but wasn't certain on Riolis.
