Since the Egmont Overture is one of the easier Beethoven orchestral works to play, I chose it to see if Classics Today was correct about him. While the tempos are somewhat slow, otherwise the performance is about average for this splendid overture. However to really judge a Beethoven performance you need to hear his 9th but I could not find it on You Tube. Despite an underwhelming Egmont, I suspect Maestro Davis will be considered among the great conductors of this century and his discography will be highly regarded for many years.
