I remember being somewhat homeless at one point with no belongings and I had a job interview so I went to Sephora and did my entire face with all of the best products for free. Thank you Sephora!
The epiphany of Beauty & Brains! I swear, you're one of those Honest and yet Humble youtubers that happens to be freaking gorgeous! Yeah, I was born 82 and been using Vidal sassoon for ages and or the VO5 all different colors. My past gal friends made fun of me and said my hair would fall out etc but hasn't yet! We all agree, life gets simpler as we get older!
Great idea about watering down the foundation! To get more out of lipstick, folks can take a small brush and dig out the remainder to paint on your lips with a lip brush when the tube goes flat! Great tips!!!
I wear inexpensive makeup also! Not minimally as you do, but I don’t splurge on costly products. The most important thing about wearing makeup (and getting your moneys worth when you do spend it on cosmetics) is to make sure you are wearing the correct shade! You and I have very similar skin color with similar undertones, so we’d almost always wear the lightest foundation shade they make (ivory). They’re are websites online that will color match you for free (go stand outside for natural lighting), they will recommend expensive products, but then you just Google for dupes of that product online and find something in budget. I wish our dollar tree carried more than dark shades of foundation….
It's so refreshing to watch a RUclips video on beauty from a sensible, common sense woman. I don't do makeup anymore but I loved your take on it. God bless.
I use to be a make up artist when I was younger. I too now use L.A. Colors & Wet & Wild. Both of which are cruelty free & super important to me. I use e.l.f. & Rimmel sometimes as well and they're both cruelty free. To water down my foundation, I use moisturizer & sunscreen because I don't like if they're thick plus I'm too lazy to put all three on...lol. Good to know about the mascara, I'm looking for a new one. I use the same eyeliner and didn't know it was cheaper at Walmart, so thank you! Your family has good genes and I love that you don't wear much, so your natural beauty can shine through. Thanks for sharing.

Old hairstylist here...In high school I used Ivory Liquid soap for my shampoo and have been using VO 5 and Suave for years, no conditioner except for the years I wore my hair long. Be sure to wash hair in warm NOT HOT water and rinse well like an extra minute after you think all the soap is out. Also keep the hair dryer on medium heat & NOT HOT or too close to hair. In between washings put a very small amount of baby powder on a powder puff and apply or rub around face/bangs/parts to absorb oils. Much cheaper than dry shampoo and just as effective. My hair always gets good comments. Also use a lip gloss applicator stick to use up every last bit of lipsticks. Amazing how much is left in the bottom.
My husband used to work in maintenance at an independent senior living complex. When residents left they would leave behind bottles of shampoo, conditioner, soap, laundry products, etc. He would have to clean out the apartments and would bring that stuff home. I loved it. We didn't buy shampoo and stuff for years.
When mascara is on the way out and you think it’s dried up and no more will come out; put the tube in a cup of hot water for a couple of minutes and it will be totally useable again! Also use fingers, not sponges, to apply foundation. So much is wasted using sponges. I also use a lipstick brush to make sure I get the absolute last amount of lipstick out of the tube!!

Several years ago I did give up liquid foundation and switched to mineral makeup, like it so much better. I felt like liquid was clogging my pores and all those chemicals seeping into my system.
Ok so I’m a confessed odd ball here. I treat my self to a Korean skin care box every month. I’m 61 and have been working my ass off my whole life raising kids my self. Now they are grown and out, it’s time for me!
@@miavos3610 Hi Mia! Yes I subscribed to it as being older, my skin needed a huge pick me up . There’s many out there but I get Bonibox. It comes with different Korean brands of skin products. This one comes every other month for 39.00. Most of the products are all natural. I love them and it’s fun getting a surprise in the mail.
That's totally ok Dreamer. We're all in different parts of our lives and in different financial positions as well. You're so allowed to treat yourself and be happy. Speaking for myself, I just do what I do because I'm going through a major transition and have been for the last 22 years ( different transitions). It's ok to splurge and treat your skin well. After all, we only have one set of skin (even though it regenerates itself, you know what I mean). If you think it's a treat, then do it and save in other areas. This is coming from an ex make up artist (Lancome, Estee Lauder, Shiseido & Laura Mercier).
I can not do that but our Macy's had an area called Backstage...less expensive clothes, make up etc. I found some Korean products . I know they have the best.
I enjoyed this, PP! I've always thought that it's just plain WRONG that it's almost all upper income/wealthy RUclipsrs that do videos on skincare, make-up, fashion, beauty, decorating. It kind of implies that low income or frugal women just don't deserve to look their best or care about their appearance or home aesthetic. That's not true because the behaviours that have the greatest impact on your appearance don't cost much. Consistent sunscreen use, wearing a hat outdoors, adequate sleep, good oral hygiene, managing stress, washing your face well, a thick moisturizer (Vaseline will do the trick) eating healthy, maintaining a healthy weight, wearing clean clothing, repairing your clothing. These things cost little, but impact your mental health in a positive way. The number one thing you can do to have a nice home and yard is to clean it and keep it clutter-free! Again, you will FEEL better. Even those on a tight budget deserve to feel and look their best! P.S. You have AMAZING skin!♥️🇨🇦
Your beauty tips are awesome. But I have to once again comment on that sweet fur baby of yours looking absolutely cute as ever nestled in your couch. Omg he's soooooo cute 😍
Howdy from Conroe TX! I put my hair brush in with the towels wash (same with my flip flops, but not at the same time) lol I shop the $1 lip color at Walmart on the bottom shelf (sometimes at the grocery store).
This is one of the most realistic and honest makeup tutorials I have seen. I have a powder I use perhaps 3 times a month, on a good day I use stick concealer under my eyes blended in. Eyeshadow, mascara and plain lip gloss and I am good to go. Most of my makeup is a few years old, except for mascara which I change every 3 months as needed. And to wipe off my mascara I skip the pricey make up removal wipes and use great value brand baby wipes. Works the same. Most of my makeup is from a dollar store as well. I am 50 so even using old eye makeup my eyes are still in my head😂
A friend once said "either wear makeup or don't. If you don't, then one day you do, people say "oh you look so fabulous". If you do, then one day you don't, people say "you look so tired, are you sick?".
That is really funny and true. I had four back surgeries, and before I left the hospital each time I would put on makeup. The nurses and doctors that came in that day were like, “Wow, you must be feeling much better!”
Your a natural beauty , very blessed I used to be able to use the cheaper shampoos when I was younger, I'm a lot older i can't do that anymore, as a older gal I'm more into trying to get my skin to glow.
Years ago, before my now 34 yo daughter was born, my local CVS marked down the cheap lipstick that I liked. They kept marking down, and finally, I bought about 20 when they were FIVE CENTS EACH. Lipstick doesn't go bad, and I'm still working on it, all these years later! A true Prepper Princess type score!
I love your sense of humor! You are so good natured to answer these burning questions from your viewership! You have so much natural beauty, both inside and out! Love your videos! Thanks.
I love love love this. I work for the finance department of a high end department store. all of my coworkers are fashionable women wearing department store makeup. They cannot tell I wear wet and wild la colors. I decided today to no longer buy lotion and just buy oil. I usually use lotion for my face and as a hair product when my super long hair gets static. Thanks for showing everyone it is possible to look glamorous enough for any occasion for less than $5 a year.
Lol... I 'boop' my dog, BuckShot, on the nose too. And he loves the 'between the eyes' rubs as well. ❣ I have lived a frugal life for many years now, but I'm still learning good stuff on your channel. Thanks!
Makeup and skincare is one of those things I don't mind spending a bit (cruelty free and organic) but I don't collect them, I have a few items only that I really use
Rocky is a darling 🤗 My mom didn’t want us going out of the house unless we were all made up, every hair in place. She was a loving mother. I’m older I put on moisturizer have let my hair go gray. My hair is long and straight and usually in a bun. 63 yrs old. Happier Thank you for sharing this.
I had a mother who was from the same school of thought! Now, no makeup, very little in hair products. I cut my hair shorter when I got sick and love it. No more highlights, just my natural silver threads. I'm so much happier too!
Hello, Princess, :) ...I use to buy more expensive makeup but when everyone was staying home for the pandemic I basiclly stop wearing makeup, no where to go and saw no reason to wear it. Sadly, a lot of my expensive makeup expired and had to toss it out. Now since I'm getting out more I wear more dollar tree and walmart makeup and a few times I have orded from the "MissA" webiste ( they have TONS of dollar makeup items } and their makeup quality is really good. I stocked up on lip balm during the winter ( a buck each) and its great stuff! I Don't ever plan on spending tons of money for makeup again. Thanks for making a video like this, this does educate those who wear makeup and want to save money. I was wondering if you go to the beauty salon to cut your hair or do you do it yourself at home to save money? Your hair always looks so nice and trimmed and if you do cut it yourself, could you ever do a video to demostrate how you cut it? I'm learning to trim my own hair at home but stuggle with how to trim my ends & its hard for me to make them all even. Thanks you for the awesome videos you create, they have helped me save money :)
I love the KISS method although I prefer to think of it as "Keep it simple, sweetie." When I was in my teens, I was gifted a 'free manicure' only to realize that I could do it myself for free and just as good plus much faster. Soak my hands when doing dishes. Filing my nails. Buying polish and painting them and they always look 'done.' Then I thought, why not do my own pedicures so I did. Never had it done professionally but never saw anybody's toes who had them done look any better than mine. Again - nail polish, preferring natural colors can be gotten at WalMart or Dollar & a quarter tree but help my nails look good.
You can't beat Wet and Wild lipsticks in my humble opinion! I, too, have been using shade 530D for YEARS! I had a minimalist makeup routine for a couple of decades. At 60, I went WILD and bought tons of makeup....late mid life crisis, I guess! Now after watching your video I feel compelled to simplify my makeup again. I love your no nonsense approach! You are beautiful!
I actually tried this powder just for fun. Nothing to loose because it’s only 1.25. I absolutely was blown away with how much I like it! If you haven’t at least tried it, try it out.
I’m a retired hairstylist and I always bought those products. Usually wherever I worked required me to sell their very expensive products and I would whisper in a clients ear what they could buy at Walmart or DT that would work LOL. But some people are doing good to afford the haircut much less expensive products. I just had a really hard time selling. But I was a great stylist
This was fun to watch, very minimalist indeed. I have tons of make-up that I hardly use anymore since 2020, I know I should probably throw most of it away, but have a habit of using expired stuff. I actually have used make-up a few times at home, going nowhere, just for fun, but mostly I go bare-face these days. I let all the wide pores and imperfections hang out lol. I do use moisturizer though.
Cheapest beauty product ever is petrolatum (AKA vaseline). It is an occlusive. I slug my skin with it several times a week before bedtime, and it keeps my skin soft and supple. Amber you are a crack-up, and I love your conservative ways. You remind me of my grandparents who never wasted anything. I can still remember seeing my grandfather in the kitchen sitting at a table using the meat grinder to grind up small bits of bar soap to be used in the laundry. Thanks for the Wet n Wild tip.
I loved seeing your makeup choices. The True Match foundation is very concentrated so I "water" mine down with whatever facial moisturizer I'd be using. Your lipstick is a good one too. Your products look lovely and flatter your features. Looking forward to more "routine" style videos. One can look fabulous on a budget.
Great video!!! I feel the same!! The best is when you forgot the word for mascara!! I am a tomboy and totally get it! Thanks for the Amazon, Wet Wild link!!
Love this video! I used to do makeup at Aveda and I have found so much great makeup name brands at the Dollar Tree. There is a great brand from Australia called BYS they have had lately and Flower by Drew Barrymore which is fairly natural and not tested on animals. It's more about skill than anything else I get mad compliments on my makeup and it's all from DT. Keep on throwing these great videos out there!
I use Tru Match too. Years ago JLo did ads for it and it was super popular. I always thought it went on nice and smooth. Believe it or not, I also have a bottle of Cover Girl clean makeup foundation. 😁🥰 I still love it. 💕
Ok so my makeup routine is pretty much the same as yours. I have very curly thick hair and use V05 as well (wash 1x a week). I do use a lot of hair products though (gel, leave in) and get them at TJMaxx for a fraction of the cost. But I don't get my nails done and I don't wear makeup everyday (1x for church). I don't use dollar tree makeup (Loreal, NYC) but it lasts me FOREVER! Taking care of your skin is a must! Use moisturizer and sunscreen especially in the summer. You have great genes friend. Simple IS always best.
I do the same. I use a zinc oxide based sunblock, so to avoid the white cast, I use a foundation that is darker than my skin tone. I add a drop or 2 in my palm to the sunblock until I get the desired color. A little goes a long way.👍♥️🇨🇦
Great video. On a side note I got a bill in the mail for some blood test that was out of network for $525. I called the company and they explained it was not covered HOWEVER the woman said she could offer a discount and she dropped the bill to $367. The point being if you get a medical bill CALL IN. Don't just pay it. Ask if they can give you a discount. Its one phone call but well worth the attempt.
@@wildhorses6817 Thanks! It made me mad cause my doctors is under my plan BUT apparently their blood test was not and I have to pay out of pocket. Make sure ALL tests are covered, all meds and all programs before agreeing and make sure they verify its covered.
@@cb-gz1vl also make sure they’re sending it to a lab that is covered under your insurance. There might be several labs in your area that your doctor uses and your insurance might not pay for all of them.
When I moved to Texas a couple of years ago my what little make up I wore always melted off my face because of the heat, and my sweat, so I don't usually wear make up anymore. I do have some Burts Bees lipstick my friend sent me a while back, but most days I just use some kind of lip moisturizer. I do have you beat as far as the brush goes, though. I used to blow dry my bangs after a shower with my brush, but I have naturally curly hair and learned how to style it in place while still wet, let it dry, and then run my fingers through it to break up the curls and make it look fuller. As for the brush it's just an ugly orange plastic thing I got when I was 17, and I'm now 59, and the brush was free. I don't know why or how I've kept it all these years, and many moves later, but I did. It was never a deliberate thing I did. I just have it. It's sort of a matter of pride now, and hope to have it till the day I die. Perhaps I'll be clutching it when my kids finally find me. :)
Wet & wild photo finish foundation under 5.00..(there's dewy and matte)..excellent coverage and feels light..i looked for soo long....im 50 and love this for my skin.
You have really good bone structure and you’re naturally pretty, so you don’t need a lot of makeup to look good. Do you color your hair? If so, do you color it yourself or do you go to a salon? How often do you get your hair cut and how much do you spend on that? I used to know a woman who had beautiful shiny black hair. Some women who spent a small fortune on their hair with coloring and extensions asked her how much she spent on her hair and she said, “Two dollars. One dollar shampoo and one dollar conditioner.” 😂
@@PrepperPrincess Your hair looks great! Just goes to show that you don’t have to spend a small fortune to look good. I know you don’t wear blush, but if you ever wanted to wear blush for a special occasion, you could use your lipstick on your cheeks and it would be a perfect color match. BTW, I went to Dollar Tree yesterday and I bought an L.A. Colors eyeliner for $1.25. That eyeliner is better than other eyeliners I’ve bought that cost ten times more.
LOL, your "makeup" routine is just fine. Just wait until you're my age - I think I've actually put on mascara once this year. My son, friends, dog, chickens and neighbors don't give a flyin' s**t, and neither do I. I do have several skincare products that I use, though, just to keep my skin healthy.
OMG...is Cheryl Tiegs your Mom? You are both so pretty.....I was wondering if the wet and wild mascara stays on without the smudges under the eyes....Thank you for sharing your makeup choices....fun video
Same here, my does the same, kiss style. She refuses to put on any makeup if she not going to so special event. That make up clogs face pores, and who truly knows what's it's made of.
Since the pandemic (and working remotely) I barely wear any makeup. I live in Florida, so I do wear Neutrogena day cream with sunblock. It's the only thing I use consistently.
Gotta love a prepper princess that wears cosmetics! This makes me happy! Cheers to a budget beauty ❤️ and btw, that’s my fav lip color too! I buy a dozen at a time because I almost never go to Walmart. You didn’t mention blush. Cover Girl classic pink is the way to go.
i dont wear any makeup. its not pretty but i am old. i cant see to put stuff on my face. i love your high cheek bones. u make me laugh when u told the story of your grandmas modeling days. thats a great story.

Definitely life after kids. Embrace this new phase of life it can be wonder.
I can not do that but our Macy's had an area called Backstage...less expensive clothes, make up etc. I found some Korean products . I know they have the best.
That's my goal too!!! I just want a stress free life. Simple, fun, carefree.
Yes!!! You've nailed it on all fronts! Just because someone has little money doesn't mean they have to be unkempt.
Your beauty tips are awesome. But I have to once again comment on that sweet fur baby of yours looking absolutely cute as ever nestled in your couch. Omg he's soooooo cute 😍
🥰 Rocky is the cutest biggest puppy ever and I just want to give him all the kisses and cuddles. 😍
Yes he is
Howdy from Conroe TX!
Prepped Princess is my fave!
Minimalism equals less stress, words to live by! 💯
This is officially my favorite makeup tutorial
Ha!! Rock on
I love your sense of humor! You are so good natured to answer these burning questions from your viewership! You have so much natural beauty, both inside and out! Love your videos! Thanks.
Cool wet n so wild exist in my cheap stores in Sweden to.
Yup..keep it simple....and cheap.. love it.😉
Living below the poverty line makeup. Lol. ❤️this channel and ❤️your passion.
I loved the story about your grandmother. What a rebel! Thank you for sharing. You are always lovely!
Lol... I 'boop' my dog, BuckShot, on the nose too.
And he loves the 'between the eyes' rubs as well. ❣
I have lived a frugal life for many years now, but I'm still learning good stuff on your channel. Thanks!
Love this. Sometimes, we are just doing too much in life. Nothing wrong with simplifying.
“What your seeing in my hair is just water”. God, I love you! I’m so happy I stumbled upon your channel 😍
At 60, I went WILD and bought tons of makeup....late mid life
crisis, I guess!
This is just what I needed! Thank you. You always look nice. And that lip color is so pretty.
Simple and beautiful, Prepper Princess.
I use sunblock or skin lotion and add a drop of foundation in it on my face. It makes a mock tinted moisturizer and goes a lot further.
This was the realest makeup video, thank for showing how most women do they're make-up routine; quick and simple.
You are just too cool for words! I watched your video twice. Couldn't get enough belly laughs! Have a splendid day!
I color it myself. Usually with dye I got at dollar tree. And I use v05 or suave shampoo and conditioner. 98 cents each
@@PrepperPrincess Your hair looks great!
I love your low maintenance look! I wish I could be like you🙌🏼.. your level of zero fucks is amazing!!
I love your simplicity. I always learn something new from you. You always make me chuckle on smile lol with your 'I don't care attitude'. I love it!!
Simple 👍👍👍 LESS IS MORE ✌️
You always look so good and well put together. And Beautiful !
You are so modest about yourself. You look fabulous. 😊
Mines pretty similar mascara, lash curler (12 years old), tinted moisturizer with SPF, eyebrow pencil, 2 lipstains because I like variation.
Eye rot 🤣🤣🤣I do the same and my 62 year old eyes are fine. You kill me! 🤣
Great video, as always. And your a natural beauty and just great person. And holy cow that lipstick is really on Amazon, lol. Thx for the link.
I don’t wear blush
i dont wear any makeup. its not pretty but i am old. i cant see to put stuff on my face. i love your high cheek bones. u make me laugh when u told the story of your grandmas modeling days. thats a great story.
Love this video! If everyone would be and buy as simple as you, this world would be a better place. Expensive make up is a rip off!
Well Said , Water Everything down to keep up with Wonderful Gas Prices
