I had my hair in a ponytail & my baby hair/edges just naturally lay flat like type 3 hair textures with no gel our anything. If it's hot it curls up. So this black lady was like " what kind of wig do you have on?" Im like huh? I had no idea what she was talking about. She's like "your wig, where did you get it?" I'm like "ohh no this is my real hair" she literally says with no shame " ohh I thought it was a wig because the edges were so curly & pretty. Are you fully black". The black guys that were with her were *CLEARLY SHOCKED!* I was like wtf?. When will my people be set free from the chains of white supremecy? LAWD!😂 people really think black women, mainly darkskin women can't have pretty long natural hair. As a black man ( 13 year old ), we dont claim him. Ik I'm still young and I'm just turning 14 in november but I know enough to state my opinion. There is NO such thing as bad hair or good hair. Obviously the definition of bad hair is supposed to be dirt hair not based on hair types. All natural hair is beautiful. And there is nothing wrong with wearing a weave. I have 3 sisters and my oldest sister has rocked them dreads since she was 5 and now she entered 19 years old. She has them because she likes them. On the other hand, my other 2 sisters stay natural, wear weaves and braid they're hair! WHY? Because they like it! So stop trying to be wise and trying to tell women how they're hair is supposed to be cuz that's one of the reasons why black women think poorly of men!

I am African, true to my roots. Natural hair, dark skinned, full lips, nose all the things he mentioned. I do not wear make up and my God the discrimination I face from black men is unbelievable. I grew up being called ugly and even today I still get called that. Black Men every where prefer light skinned women, it has got nothing to do with what we wear or put on our bodies. I have a close dark skinned male friend and he never fails to remind me how he only wants light skinned girls. So most black men just have to accept they hate their themselves and wish they weren't black.
As a dark skin who come from a long line of dark skin women I love us, I love me. If a man of my race come up to me with this synthetic dislike I simply say tell ya mama not me. I worked at a modeling agency and when casters called for models the specifications were ALWAYS “She has to be white and look high class”, there were always variations on weather they wanted beauty, athletic or “curvy” type... but light skin color was always requested.

My story: I used to work at this upscale club in Tampa. It was ran by white men. They’re clientele used to fetishized me because I was one of the few black women there. I always wore LONG weaves and they would call me Pocahontas. One day, I got my hair cut short and styled really nicely at a salon and decided I would go in with my natural hair. When I was in the dressing room, the manager came and told me that I couldn’t work with my hair like it was. I was shocked because I knew my hair looked good (better than the girls with their hair long and straight). I told them that I left my wig at home and they told me to go home and get it so I could work. I told them if I leave I’m not coming all the way back and they didn’t care so I left and never went back there again.
I worked in a club in Ontario, they were charging black girls to 100$ to work and the white girls (and anything in between) 40$! and they didn't let black girls go on stage because they didnt want clients walking in and seeing a black girl on stage. the racism was TOO much. they were TOO comfortable with these discriminatory rules. (which were hella illegal might i add) I NEVER WENT BACK.
