Yeah, I scraped through that unscathed by mere millimetres! The smallest gap possible, and I found it. Huge relief. After that, I just kept it as safe and sensible as possible 😃
A great run there in all that rain!! I was afraid in that last lap you were gona push too hard but you pulled through!! Thanks for sharing with us and congrats on your finish!!
Haha yeah me too! There were a couple of times when I was on the verge of pushing too hard and overdriving it. But thankfully I learned from my recent errors!
If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing theirs… Great racing lad - a highly technical track with treacherous kerbs in the dry, never mind the wet!!! P.S. good idea to use wet tyres this time!😂
It’s a great mental strategy to make wet tyres feel so much more grippy than they are … do a few laps on slicks by mistake, then switch to the wets to make it feel so much easier than if you’d just started on the west to begin with 🤣
Well done, Chris! The rain really does change the whole dynamics of the race. Moreso if you have a longer race with variable weather and a required pitstop! That was my league race this week... and things got interesting 20 minutes in when a dry line formed before it started raining again.
Yeah I can imagine that would be a whole new challenge. Thankfully this one was a short sharp dash, and the conditions stayed the same throughout. So once I’d settled in, it was pretty easy to coast around safely!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah a bit of luck on lap one was crucial… after that, I had enough space in front and behind to look after myself and keep it safe 😃
What a chaotic first lap! That was a close escape too, not as close as your last video but still enough to hold your breath and hope you squeeze through! Nice control in the rain too.
This was a race on thin ice, those cars spinning all over looked like ballet dancers! Those were some deadly conditions! Well done reaching the end alive, you really had a good safe driving that offered you a big boost on your Irating rating! 👍💪
You gotta love gaining safety rating in a wet race! You're really spoiling us with videos lately. Where did all this free time to create content come from?
Yeah, I’ve made more videos in the past month than I made in the 3 months before that 🤣 I’ve had a few more free evenings of late, but I’ve also streamlined my editing process a bit too. Halved the time I spend on editing and general prep work. Just to try and bring a bit more variety to my racing (and the channel) 😃
Solid finish as usual Chris. I've finally leaped into multi-player racing after years of AI "practice", and it's so amazing how well a finish can be had just by keeping it clean. I've been close to 2 seconds a lap behind the leaders in quali, then I'll finish top 5 by not wrecking!! I need to keep pushing tho, or I'm sure I'll never get faster.
Exactly! I’ve used this strategy more often than not, throughout my time in sim racing. Particularly in iRacing… driving within your limits and keeping yourself safe is the first big stride towards a good result!
Another professional drive there. I love the wet in ACC but iRacing takes it to another level. It always beggars belief for me how seemingly great drivers keep spinning off or are really slow in the wet.
Yeah, me too. There’s even less excuse in iRacing, because a wet race is wet all week… it’s the same conditions every race for the entire week. In ACC, conditions are variable so you can get caught out by weather you hadn’t practiced for. But here in iRacing, you go into the race knowing exactly how it’ll be.
My first practice session, I didn’t realise that I’d not selected wet tyres 🤣 tried two laps on slicks! But even with the wets on, still insanely difficult.
I find rainy races easier on iRacing because most iRacers seem to have no self-preservation instinct 😂 Most of the time all you need to do is drive carefully to get a good result
Yeah that’s a really good point. I’ve only done a couple of wet races, but had decent results in both. I guess you just need a bit of luck on lap one to avoid the chaos (I certainly had that luck in this one!)
makes me feel better about barely keeping it on the track this week at Hungaroring (and fairly regularly NOT keeping it on the track! 🤨 )..... treacherous, but exciting racing this week!
I’ve never raced in VR mate, so I wouldn’t be best placed to advise. I do like the idea, but I race on a small budget so it’s probably not suitable for me at the moment.
How are you finding the Porsche mate? In the Abruzzi GT4 series I run it. It was wet too at Zolder last night. Good driving man, you did really well keeping it on track, not over driving
Yeah u enjoy the Porsche, once I’ve got used to using the throttle to help rotate through corners. Before the Porsche, I owned the old BMW M4 which was horrible in iracing! So anything was an upgrade from that 🤣
Wow what a clean drive from you in these conditions. You had so much luck in the first lap. But we'll deserved 7th place. Such a nice driving 😊
Yeah, I scraped through that unscathed by mere millimetres! The smallest gap possible, and I found it. Huge relief. After that, I just kept it as safe and sensible as possible 😃
AWESOME job Chris 🙏🫶🏎💨
Thank you! Well happy with this result. Cheers for watching 😃

Missing racing with you Chris but really really happy to see what this channel as become!!! You're the man!!! Great racing as always!!!
Ahh thank you mate, yeah they were some good races back in the day! I’m sure we’ll meet again!
Incredibly composed drive !!
Cheers, yeah I learned from my recent disasters, not to over-drive in this one 🤣
Great drive!🏁
Thank you!
Top split and I didn’t see anyone hold the brakes when crashing out. Well done for surviving!
Haha yeah, cars going all over the place. Just goes to show that huge ratings don’t always guarantee flawless drives 😃

Thank you mate, yeah I’m not in a hurry to try these conditions again!
Great result Chris!
Thank you John!
Nice result in very tricky conditions 👍
Cheers John. I caught your Imola race earlier. Clearly it rained heavily everywhere this week!
Fantastic result in a chaotic race. Loving Sam Halliday's livery, quite similar to my own, he must be Scottish 😂
Haha yeah! You’d have thought he’d have been more used to the weather conditions 🤣

Yeah, this one was a real challenge. I only tried it once, and once was enough!
That's a great result. 100% focus throughout the whole race got you your reward. Well done, Chris 🙂
Thank you! Yeah was well pleased with this one.
Nice one, man!
Thank you Matt!

5:44 a shit this is me xD this is the hardest turn for me in these conditions
Haha, ahh there’s no shame in spinning off in these conditions mate. Every corner was a huge challenge, and the kerbs were so slippery!
Great driving pal in difficult conditions!
Cheers mate, yeah gave myself a headache concentrating so hard in this one 🤣
@@chrisrogerssimracing Well you did well matey lol 😂😂
@@ReverendSimRacing Thanks lad, yeah one of my best ever finishes, given the SoF! Cheers

Do you ever race in VR? If so which game and which headset is best?
I’ve never raced in VR mate, so I wouldn’t be best placed to advise. I do like the idea, but I race on a small budget so it’s probably not suitable for me at the moment.

2:06 ACC is better in this, at least they don't crash me there BEFORE the race... :)
🤣 haha yeah totally!
iRacing start is very different to LFM start....turn 2....Ok! forget it😅
Haha exactly… you see it happen so often. Everyone is so careful through T1, but they think the danger has then passed and drop their guard for T2.
Great race! Btw I think Christian Ortega is keny500 on twitch, a pretty famous streamer.
Oh nice one, thanks for the heads-up. I’ll have a look to see if he streamed it. It would be fun to see his reaction when he slowed down at the end 🤣
@@chrisrogerssimracing He was streaming. Watch his stream around 4:28:00. I don't understand Spanish, but his reaction is priceless 😂😂
@@RobertHidasi Thanks, just watched it! Brilliant 🤣
