- Welcome back to RaceRoom for highlights of two intense WTCR races at Suzuka. This combo really stood out on the new ranked schedule and, so far, it hasn’t disappointed. The racing has been sensational, and the grids have been stacked! I’m starting the first race from P9. Will it be back-to-back barnstormers, or will it be double trouble?

Ah I love these cars! Great work Chris - you’ve persuaded me to boot RaceRoom up again tonight and have a go myself!
Good lad! They take a bit of adjusting to… particularly after so long without any FWD racing. But once it clicks again, they’re fantastic fun.

TBH for me the best combo of current ranked races is of course Touring Classics @ Bathurst , that's proper mad racing, trying to navigate the brick over the mountain :)
Well, you are a madman! Haha. I remember trying one race in the Touring Classics, and I struggled to get around Brands Hatch, never mind Bathurst. I guess, at least there are walls to bounce off so you stay on track 🤣
Nice race Chris, it's great to see you back on Raceroom mate. I've yet to give these cars a go myself despite me being on Raceroom all the time, they look totally different to drive than the usual rear wheel drive cars I've got more familiar with but looks like great fun and i'll defo be giving them a go. Yeah, the FWD is a totally different experience. For my first few laps of practice, I was running off track at every corner! But once it ‘clicks’, the cars are so much fun. You could see how my pace improved over the course of the two races… once you get the feel for it, you really start seeing those lap times come down!

For future reference these cars have launch control which explains how other drivers got away from the line more quickly 👍🏻

Yeah occasionally I like to do a second race afterwards, as usually I’m more competitive if I do the same combo for a second time!

Yeah, I loved these. It’s the type of race that really feels like you might be in the real thing, with everyone driving so cleanly.

It’s been my favourite combo of the last month or two, with everyone driving so well in it. Unheard of for me to feature two races in a video, and not have one crash or wreck to highlight (except for the very first T1 incident). Enjoy!
2:20 a pass in 130R w/o contract is essentially impossible unless you are already fully alongside b4 the corner (which is unlikely to happen unless you get a really good drive out of the previous corner, did a perfect job drafting, AND he didn't get a good drive out of the previous corner or has aero damage (and you don't).
What is feasible is to set up a pass in the last chicane. Getting the timing right going into 130R is a bit tricky. You need to be a teeny bit further back going on the previous straightaway. Square off 130R and get maximum drag on the next straight. If the other car is a tad slower out of 130R and you didn't leave that space, you will hit him unless you let off the gas defeating the whole purpose. If he doesn't get a perfect drive our of 130R, a pass into the last chicane shouldn't be that hard w/ the draft. If he also gets a perfect drive out of 130R, a pass into the last chicane is doable w/ the draft, but a bit sketchy (he would have to relent or at least give you space on the inside on the first half of the chicane.)

Ahh yeah that’s a shame mate, there really is only a small window of opportunity for big grids each evening. Generally it’s not my preferred time to race either, but I’ve managed to grab a couple of chances at it lately.

Ahh mate, do it! It really does look and feel a lot fresher now. Finding big grids is still a problem, but the peak times from 7-9pm are definitely more populated now for online racing.
@@chrisrogerssimracing those peak times are exactly when I race. Have you tried the TCR cars on Assetto this week? Cupra and Elentra I believe. Just wondering if you had any thoughts Vs the race room touring cars.
@@snappedbydanI haven’t had chance yet, but these races have definitely given me the bug for more touring car action, so I’ll definitely be trying the AC ones this week 👍
@@chrisrogerssimracing yeah do so mate, I hope they stay popular in the regular season! Touring cars are all fun, easy to forget when racing gt3 mostly.

Ahh yeah I can imagine those lobbies are pretty quiet. That’s a shame. It tends to be 7-10pm CET is the best time to be online for full grids.
