    Geely Holding today owns and manages a number of brands: Geely Auto, Lynk & Co, ZEEKR, Volvo Cars, Polestar, Lotus, London Electric Vehicle Company, Farizon, RADAR, and Cao Cao Mobility, and other brands are around the brand positioning and actively participate in market competition. It recently cut its holdings in Volvo Trucks. Geely has invested more than £3bn in Lotus, ahead of a planned listing of its electric car business on New York’s Nasdaq stock exchange. It will float through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (Spac) backed by LVMH, the luxury goods company controlled by the billionaire Bernard Arnault. The production record will not last long, as Lotus has started to deliver the first of its Eletre sports utility vehicles from a new factory in Wuhan, China, as part of a Geely plan to increase annual production to 150,000 by 2028.

    • @sullivanrachael
      @sullivanrachael 24 дня назад +1

      The problem I see is that Geely have bought up lots of great automotive brands with great history. Lotus is famous for lightweight, great handling sports cars. An EV cannot quite do that, although a Renault Twizzy comes close. Astons are sporty grand tourers. Again, not quite an EV, which perhaps best turn out as SUVs. Taking an EV SUV platform and making a Lotus sport SUV? Is how different to an Aston SUV, or a Volvo SUV, or a London Taxi? I’m just saying - rebadging and restyling the same basic car is limiting. Calling a Geely a Lotus doesn’t really evoke a super lightweight, superbly handling medium power sport or racing car. Ford have done this with the MachE. It’s not been a best seller.

    • @DC.409
      @DC.409 24 дня назад

      @@sullivanrachael An excellent point, the Chapman mantra was simplify and add lightness. Geely presently seems to be following simplify and add weight. Also cutting holdings in Volvo Trucks may prove to be a mistake given they are leading with heavy truck electrification.

A new version on the much better SEPA2.0 chassis will be available in 2024... Things are progressing very quickly, but details are very important in daily use satisfaction... Sam, I think that there are some lessons, potentially, to be learned here. I am a Tesla fan, we own two. But I do think that BYD and Geely demonstrate that through their many brands (a bit too many) they offer many car choices to consumers to fit their needs and to express their individualism. Tesla needs to learn, I believe, that people equate a lot of their “individualism” via the cars they own, particularly Americans. I think that Tesla would sell a lot more cars if they had more variety… potential for people’s individualism… by starting to offer more colors, wheel choices, etc., and then to expand their model line-up to an appropriate level.

    The US just imposed a 100% tariff on Chinese EV imports because their cars are FAR SUPERIOR in every metric over their American counterparts..
    I just saw a video of a BYD SUV and they have a crazy amount of cool features and this one had a gas generator built in (not a hybrid) which gives the vehicle over 600 miles of uninterrupted range .
    It also features a built in drone that launches from a built in roof pod, an in car communication system, oh and it will float on water for thirty minutes.
    Build quality is next level and styling puts anything the US is putting out, to shame.

In the UK, they're indicted to sell for £45k, on par with BYD Seal, a much nicer car without sales success. Car Magazine gave the 001 2 stars out of 5. Fastest growing EV maker this week, somebody else next week, and someone else the week after. None of these numbers mean much.

    Valuation for zeeker is not justify, they should have listed for 2-5 dollar per share with plenty of shares. Then maybe it will have better growth, just because it’s started with 20-30 dollar range it’s got a long way to go, a good stock and company wasted.
    Came out 25.5 per share, hit peak at 32.23, then head back to 26.5, now consolidation around 27.9. All the money wasted and burned, kinda stupid, if it came out 5 dollar per share it could have stood around 8 by now with 10-12 being peak price.

      Europe has been left in the dust, they’re too busy trying to figure out how to accommodate the immigration invasion, building 15 min cities and banning gas stoves and cow farts, rather than focus on the things that will increase GDP and improve the economy.
      China has none of that.
      Europe and the U.S. are failed states.

    The only reason to get Chinese trash is the very low price. But you have to be in china. In Europe they cost as much as a normal non Chinese car. They should be half the price of a normal car.

      Every other European car manufacturer would go bankrupt overnight. And thousands of employees let go and their families being pushed into poverty over a few years after their savings run out. EU or North America will not allow it.

    Please let us have a normal debate, i don't have even a car! A GER energy supplier admit that the energy grid would collapse if just half of today's internal combustion engines switch to electric vehicles. Most people charge in the evening, right when most people are eating, bathing or watching TV, which means that many consumers are running at the same time.first we need to upgrade the power grid, clean energy supply, not from fossil power plants, infrastructure, recycling facilities, bcs no 1 exist that could handle EVs in high numbers! But net issue is around the corner, according to experts, lithium resources last for a maximum of 50 years, some say 30, depending on use, and mining ends in a high environment damage, according to Greenpeace! only solution, stop individual transport, more trains, metro etc.

    • @Ted_adventurer
      @Ted_adventurer 26 дней назад +2

      Fortunately the transition will be slow, home chargers will continue to manage charging times, mostly at night after home peak consumption has ended, and battery storage prices are dropping like a stone, meaning you can collect light energy during the day and pop it in your battery at night. Greenpeace is a ridiculous, radicalized organisation, I used to donate to them but found out where the money was going. Just because your brain can't fathom the future doesn't mean it won't be just fine, peace ✌️

    • @Ezekiel903
      @Ezekiel903 25 дней назад

      @@Ted_adventurer sorry, but when you come home after work, that's the time in which the energy consumption reaches his peak, so, then you have to charge the battery and most don't have a supercharger at home, most need approx. 6-8 hours for a full charge! 2 The greater the demand, the more expensive it becomes, incl. electricity. 3. all that makes no sense as long we need fossil fuel to produce the electricity! 4 and biggest issue is rare earth, Lithium is a "rare earth", best calculations says, that the reserves of lithium will last for only 40 to 60 years,what's next?? there is only one solution, stop with individual mobility, use trains, metro, bus etc
