For future reference you can use ER409Nb rod with GTAW with 100% argon for welding high carbon steel or stainless to cast iron. Special order from most suppliers.

So did you wash out the muriatic acid with water or did you just drain it out then used the gun to dry it

Nice planning, ambitious scratch built tank, & hydrostatic testing Before 1st use, for Safety. You almost built it perfect the 1st time (minor oops you mentioned: missing check valve, & wrong pressure switch without pressure unloader feature.) She's a blue ribbon winner! This was a good safe build, congratulations! I saw 1 air comp. YT build series that was a fiasco from the start, should be labeled how NOT to build an air comp.. Yikes, I & others feared for his life. Anything that stores compressed energy (air in this case) is a potential bomb. He did not study, understand & shamelessly copy EVERY part of a high quality, engineered, factory made air compressor, & how it's tested for safety! You did well sir. Respect!

thanks I am glad you liked it !!! It gets a lot of use now and it works amazingly well after the new pressure switch and what not I finally finished part three where I go more over everything and the refrigerant air dryer.
but I do have to admit I felt a bit stupid several times for remaking something that factories seem to have down so well but where I live an air compressor like the one I built could easily be $3000 or more and I really didn't have the money for that and the final product is honestly better than most of the commercially made ones in my opinion with the frequency drive and all

What VFD brand and model did you use? I need one for a residential set up?

I got my VFD off of eBay
      www.ebay.com/itm/224268117313?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=8vnkh760qh-&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
this is pretty much the one I got I think The only thing is it was extremely difficult to program an electrician friend of mine tried to get it to work and wasn't able to.
I ended up hiring a specialist and he got it working perfectly
