I keep hearing that American shorthairs are independent but my A.S, Jax is codependent he always loves my company and he follows me everywhere not only that but if I leave he tries to follow me out the door and he goes wild at home with his meows and cries for me

Our favorite breed is whatever our two sisters are. They look like American shorthair, but who knows. We suspect that their father is a maine coonish cat who owns the neighborhood. The mother is a mixed breed who came to our son's house one day and decided to stay. They look and act like your description of American shorthair. No matter, we love them and now they own the place, so I guess they are going to stay.

Thank you for sharing your love for your two sisters! It's amazing how cats can find their way into our lives and become beloved family members. Wishing you many more happy moments with them!

I feed around 15 cats. Three live inside. I have one female cat at the time being, that I plan to get fixed. Unfornately, even though she's lived inside for almost 2 months, she won't warm up to me so I can pick her up and take her to the vet. All the indoor cats are fixed (2 males, 1 female). Most of the cats outdoors are fixed. My home is a cat magnet. I have taken many, many, many stray cats, over the course of 19 years to animal control. Util recently and because there is little boarding space available, I take them back. I feed and provide shelter for them and sometimes animal control brings me food to help out. It's expensive doing what I do but, I love cats. However, I'm a disable veteran and my healt is detorioring, it's gotten physically taxing to take care of them. I recently had back surgery. Such a dilemma.

    CAT PRO TIPS
DO NOT spray or scare your cats to discipline them, ut doesn’t work and it only erodes trust in your relationship and makes them fear you instead. Your cat should be comfortable and safe in your home and cats are typically only doing something people don’t like for a very short list of reasons and guess what? Most of them are at least partially your fault. .
If they are doing something weird with water, you aren’t providing water in the right bowl or place or freshness.
If they are going outside of the litter box it could be health problems, the litter hurts their paws, the sides are too high, or the box has a lid, which frequently scares them bc they are easy to sneak up on in there.
If they are scratching your furniture or carpet they need more and varied scratching posts at of different materials and varying angles, typically whichever way your furniture or mat or whatever they’re scratching is positioned but have other options as well. so find a scratcher for them that’s similar and not too rough bc their paws are sensitive. The poles are rarely sturdy enough to be trusty. Make sure there are many available and set them up right outside of where they like to nap bc cats often stretch and scratch when they wake up.
If they are damaging your things, that is a clear distress sign that should indicate to you that your cat is stressed or neglected or in need of medical care.
At the very least, provide your cat with constant, unblocked access to a seating area in a window that faces some active wildlife like a bush or tree or anywhere birds and squirrels can be seen. Make sure the window is always open and available and safe and sturdy with a nice little bed or pillow, folded blanket or even a kitchen mat and they can sit there, nap, and at any time see some action out of it.
Cats are intelligent and social animals and just like you, don’t do well with constant boredom or solitude. They need exercise, they need play, they need their own spaces and they need entertainment. Their minds are active and need stimulation several times a day. They tend to appreciate this activity in short bursts, so play with your cat before you get on tiktok then when the cat is tired of playing, THEN pick your phone up. A window is the bare minimum you can do for a cat, is giving them their “cat tv” but you still need a minimum of daily interaction fully focused (put your phone down) play. You’ve trapped a living thing and make it depend on you for its survival, the least you could do is pay attention to it enough to pull a string around a room and let them chase it and have THE TIME OF THEIR LIVES.
Watch Jackson galaxy’s cat behavior videos, I guarantee you’re doing something wrong. A “bad” cat is just a cat you didn’t raise right.

It can be tricky to distinguish between breeds sometimes, but your cat is surely special regardless!

NEVER HIT A CAT ! SIMPLY MOVE HIS PAW AWAY FROM THE ITEM, OR TAKE IT AWAY.
