This song has helped me so much. I lost my 14 year old daughter just a handful of days apart from him losing his son. She died in a flash flood. When i hear this song it gives me just a little more strength and faith.

This was supposed to be a one time performance of this song. Afterward Ricky Skaggs convinced Craig to record it. He said that Craig needed to for himself and others. There is an official music video but this is the best performance to me and I cry every time I see it.

He told the story of waking at 2am and part of the song went thru his head. He thought he would be remember it and write the song later and he said God told him, GET UP AND WRITE IT NOW. He went downstairs and wrote the entire song in 1 hour and 17 minutes. As you hear him sing it is the exact way he wrote the song. That performance was on the Grand Ole Opry. When he left the stage he was told by Rickey Skaggs it was the most extraordinary song that he had ever heard, Craig said I am glad that you heard it, because I wil l never sing that song again. Rickey said, listen man, there are too many people that have gone thru so many hard things that need to hear that song, so he recorded it. He sings it during his show but often has to stop singing it before he finishes it.

Craig has another song "The Mask" that I love, I know that he promotes it for Covid 19..... But I read between the lines..... I close the door and tell the whole world to go to hell!!!! As a Momma, that is exactly what I want to do!!!

I’m not a parent, but I imagine that there’s little else more unnatural in this world than for a parent to have to bury their child. That kind of pain is not just unbearable but unspeakable.
When you lose a loved one (especially a child, I imagine), the intellectual side of you understands that life must go on by necessity, but in our hearts, we can’t even begin to fathom how we ever go forward and it just doesn’t seem right to think that we’ll ever be OK again. Even the thought that things will ever get back to anything close to normal seems like a slap in the face to the one you’ve lost.
When my mother died, I remember wishing that I could just press some gigantic cosmic pause button...just for a little while, just so I could have a chance to catch my breath, but, of course, I _had_ to go on...I _had_ to face an even lonelier world now that I was no longer anybody’s little boy. That’s tough medicine to take.
In time (and we all work on our own timetable...you grieve how you grieve...no one can give you lessons on that), I began to understand that my mom knew I loved her...I told her and I tried to show her every way I knew...and I realized that her suffering was done and she’s perfect again, and she wouldn’t want me to keep crying and hurting because she was gone. My mom had told me that she only ever wanted her kids to be happy, so I knew I had a long road to hoe to get back to anything like happy, but it seemed to me that as long as I let the hurt rule me, my mom, even from Heaven, would hurt for me too...and even if I could stew in my own misery indefinitely, I couldn’t do that to her.
There is so much about life that is unfair and living in this world day to day just isn’t easy, but it’s those beautiful flowers (a.k.a. our family and friends) that we collect along the way that make it not just bearable but actually beautiful. I know it sounds corny and trite to say this, but I’ve learned from personal experience that the people we love are never really gone as long as we hold them in our hearts.
I’ll admit, it’s not usually quick or easy to come to that realization and it almost always _does_ get darker before the sun shines again, but the people who love us (living or dead) want us to sing in the sunshine, not cry in the dark.

My grandfather lost his son, my uncle, in early november. Grandpa is 83 almost 84 years old and he has outlived one of his children. Its wrong and a crime against nature. This song gives me just an inkling of the agony hes feeling right now and i hope and pray that he'll find his way to heal like the rest of my family is doing. Thats not to diminish the pain my grandmother is going through but the bond between father and son is different than a mother and son.

Craig Morgan put into words exactly word for word what my husband does and continues to do since losing our son in 2018. He was only 20 and our lives literally stopped. He was engaged, had finished college and was already looking at homes for he and his future bride. All our “plans” we had for our future as parents and grandparents stopped in that moment. We know we will never recover until we are with him in heaven.

I have buddies from the Corps that took their lives and had the same experiences in Iraq, I always wonder why I haven't gotten their yet. I can watch a movie with a sad/deep scene and I will tear up, but in my life that stuff gets nada. I don't feel like I have PTSDF just because I went through abuse and stress at a young age. This hits me HARD 😱😭💔 my son was murdered by a white supremacy group 12/13/1996, they put him alive through a nine foot propeller, it took four months for them to find enough body parts for us to hold a memorial service 😭💔. Just in time for his twenty first birthday 💔💔💔🙋🏽‍♀️

It is a beautiful song. It hit me hard because I grew up in a small town. But a selfish girlfriend that took our child to follow her dreams in Ballet...Helpless in the situation when a man wants a child, but a woman takes the life of their child through abortion..

Eric Clapton sacrificed his son for his career!! 🤬 he doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breathe with Craig.

Have you ever done "Better then a Hallelujah" by Amy Grant. It's an awesome song.

God sent us Jesus to bind up the broken hearted. Only Jesus can heal such a deep and painful loss. The Holy Spirit (Ghost) was obviously at work in the writing and singing of this beautiful song. It would be nice if you would also do a reaction to the song - “21” by
Toby Mac who just lost his son who was 21 years old. Thank U for proclaiming the gospel of J.C. God bless U! L.J.H. < / Mpls., MN
