I feel for the transgender community, we treat them like circus animals instead of living, breathing human beings. Every question is centered on their transness and we fail to go deeper than being so fixated on their transition or trans identity. Bless her for helping to pave the way, my regret for her is working during an even more intolerant time that we live in now. (She's still alive but the height of her career flourished during such a prejudiced time)

People just didn’t know as much about trans people back then. No internet. I was in my late teens back then and I remember her on talk shows . It was fascinating and I remember her being very beloved. She is an amazing person. Arsenio Hall was always crass with all his guests . He shouldn’t have been that way but he was going for the ratings.

She had such a stupid interviewer asking her the most ridiculous questions and Miss Dors handled it with the same poise, grace and humour as Caroline...
Caroline Cossey is the woman who really clicked with me and helped me make the connection that I, too, would take her path. I can't quite find the words to convey how much I adore her and idolize her. NO ONE was out there at that time doing what she did. And now, watching these interviews back to back, I am struck even more by her courage. The most invasive, inappropriate, rude questions, over and over again. How she endured it, I'll never know. Though I do know that having the unwavering unconditional love and support of her family and her wonderful husband must have been the key. Caroline, you are our (meaning transsexual women) Princess Diana! THANK YOU a thousand times over for doing more than almost anyone to help create the better world that we live in. You hold a forever special place in my heart, and the hearts of untold others.

Unfortunately, the show's producers chose as today, to portray as some "freak show" by allowing the before and after pictures of her transition.. I am a transgender person, and nothing is so insensitive and demeaning than to insist a person reveal a "painful" past to the world -- regardless of how that revelation is constructed. It seems to feed the public's morbid fascination of, and towards, trans-gendered persons and they forget, that the reason people transition to create a new life -- to bring harmony and happiness with mind and body. Asking them to show us what you looked like again, not only treats us as "freaks" but serves to reaffirm the "unnaturalness" of the trans-gendered people as individuals seeking to undo something biological or preordained -- hence the "freakishness" of it all..
I am in awe of her accomplishments as a model and how she handled the era of toxic transphobic rhetoric and media of the '70s/'80s. She's been my role model for decades upon decades 💜🏳⚧💜
Everyone is saying the interview was disgusting and the questions were horrible and insensitive but this was a different time. She knew those questions were coming and she knew how important it was for her to answer them in front of the world so other transgender people didn’t have to. His questions were very intimate but I doubt that he invited her on to talk about her modelling career. She is there to help enlighten the general public about her experience and many people are naturally curious about these very questions. It is very gracious and generous of Caroline to be so open about these kinds of questions but rest assured such clarity is very helpful for people to understand something with which they are completely unfamiliar. One of the greatest barriers to public acceptance of people who are "sexually different" is that the most visible have usually been extremely flamboyant which tends to influence most people to not take them seriously - to view them more as "attention whores", as it were. The fact that there are so many in the lgbt community who just wish to live a "normal" life in privacy and be respected is lost to the extremism. People like Caroline are very instrumental in showing the world that there is more to the lgbt world than "bath houses of debauchery". Generous, courageous people like Caroline Cossey and her husband are the most effective spokespeople for the community. She is so gracious, charming and "vulnerable" that I can easily see why her husband fell in love with her. Come on. Hello my name is Caitlyn on the cover of a magazine. She came on the show. Being a trans women puts you on the map. Laverne Cox, Jamie Clayton, Nicole Maine's, Caitlyn Jenner. If you are a trans man or woman in the public eye of course you are going to get more attention, and if I was a modern time interview he would of been more politically correct.
