You are the man brother I'm getting pumped up for spooky season 2024 now and it's July lol it comes and goes so quick so you always start getting ready for it in July and August for the whole feel of fall and Halloween season and Michael Myers is always at the center of my Halloween season thanks for posting these videos brother You're awesome
Don't apologize for making this in November celebrate the spooky season all year like I told you I start mine in July I'm ready right now for 2024 spooky season I've already started it I'm considering putting up my fall and Halloween decorations starting in mid-August
As someone who has never watched any of these movies and is actually so uninterested in the horror/slasher genre entirely, I still watched all of both part 1 and 2 of this series. I just love your style of video and how you discuss media that anybody can take in, even someone like me. I really appreciate your detailed discussions and your in depth thoughts, the passion put into these videos is astounding!! Thank you for your work 💜💜💜
Someone said Halloween kills are supposed to represent how tough everyone talks until they’re actually faced with the danger that they think they’re going to do something about and then they just fall apart
I think your statement about Ends being too afraid to take advantage of the opportunities it had to stand out was perfect. Something I've been thinking over with Corey is how it actually makes sense that he is an imperfect "clone" of The Shape. Corey is a representation of not only how evil can be lurking within anyone, but how evil can be fostered and grown from the actions of others as well. But Corey isn't a *truly* evil person, he is evil born of circumstance, the combination of tragedy and hatred that is all too familiar in the real world. When he was grabbed by Micheal in the sewers, think of it as him having a glimpse at what true evil is, and the power it can afford one, especially over those who have harmed you. Corey becomes an imperfect form of The Shape, as he is not a true force of nature as Micheal is. That's why that even though he can look and seem as imposing and powerful as Micheal is, he is nothing like him. He is just a man in a mask who wanted power over those who have, and would harm him. But he isn't as enduring or as powerful as The Shape, a being who is sustained on fear and death. I actually enjoy his arc, and the movie a fair bit more. It was just unfortunately not executed the best
You can't undo the sibling plotline. Even if you retcon it and pretend like the two characters are not related, Michael is just hunting her down because he doesn't want to leave a job unfinished, people are still going to keep that plotline in the back of their minds. Honestly I appreciate that the movies are working with this aspect to salvage the sad rags of the most terrible Halloween movies.
Scream was also inspired by Jason Lives. If I was to point out the key influences of Scream it would be Prom Night, Halloween, Jason Lives and obviously New Nightmare, with a little bit of Happy Birthday to Me for good measure. You can tell that Kevin Williamson is a pretty big slasher fan, as a lot of his works are inspired by relatively obscure slasher films. Well those are still movies that sold tickets, but I bet you can find a bunch of horror fans that have never heard of films like Happy Birthday to Me or House on Sorority Row. But back to Friday the 13th, as I feel that film never gets enough credit for it's influence because "it's just a Halloween rip off" when it was pretty much the dividing line between 70s slashers and the slasher boom of the 1980s. Like compare two movies from before and after Friday the 13th, and the difference is huge. I don't even like the original movie that much and think that The Final Chapter and Jason Lives are the only legitimately good films of the series. I just feel that Scream is a perfect blend of the most interesting entries of each franchise, and combines them into a fresh horror classic.
Dream Warriors is my favorite but ANoES 1 is the scariest, particularly at the time of it's release when the concept was fresh and we where all teenagers.
Eeehhhh.... you just reminded me how great, and carefree were those times. When a movie of that caliber came out, and my biggest fear in life was going to sleep, wondering if he 's gonna show up and get me or not. No real life problems, not wondering what I 'm gonna eat tomorrow, how will I pay the bills, and everything else of that nature that came in my life in early 2000s. How awesome was growing up in 80s, and becoming a teenager in 90s....innocent nostalgic times I 'll never get back, but will always cherish and remember with a big smile on my face.
John Carpenter when making Michael Myers:He's a mysterious killer, one who's motives are unknown to all, as if he's just simply evil incarnate. Literally every other Halloween movie besides 3:Oh, why don't we give this scary character more motivations, despite the fact he doesn't have any LITERALLY being the point!
it's hilarious to me how Carpenter made the best film in the series, a decent sequel to that one and in the near 40 years of the series, there wasn't a sequel as good until he returned in 2018 and basically said "Sit down kids, let me show you how a real Halloween is made"
I'm really glad you appreciate the Zombie Halloween's too. Yeah, they're not as good as the original, but Zombie's style is a helluva lot of fun, and Tyler Mane does a great job as Giant Michael. Plus I love the glut of blood -- the original is a classic, sure, but it's surprisingly *clean*. (I did watch Zombie's H1 first. That's on me, lol.)
I believe that Halloween kills was a little bit of comic relief from the harshness and the realness that we came off of 2018 so it was a little lackluster but it did it because the title was Halloween kills and it gave you the kills that you came for. But Halloween ends was a hole in the movie that I feel like Michael was shoehorned in the same way how Resurrection had him shoehorned in but that's just my opinion once again
Maybe he doesn't kill Busta as fake Michael Myers in order to have a decoy and keep everyone confused and thinking it's not real, allowing him to more effectively maneuver within any given situation.
Can 't believe someone actually made at least some sense from that awful flick. If only writers came out with that idea and developed it to a degree....maybe it would end up as D-....instead of pure F. ;)
This is one of the best commentaries of this franchise that I've seen. Well done 👍 I'll jump to Halloween Ends..... I've seen it 3 times compared to the others and I've come up with this theory: Corey was used by Allison and Laurie and here's why. When Laurie first encounters Corey, he's being "bullied" and steps in after. What does she do...hands him a knife and basically tells him violence will solve your problems and he thrusts the knife into one of the tires of band bully's car...much like stabbing a person. She immediately saw something in Corey that was evil. She then takes him to Allison who sees the same thing. Laurie and Allison are going to use Corey to fulfill their desire to insight terror upon Haddonfield as revenge for allowing Michael to escape. That's why neither of them left. Laurie and Corey are both treated like shit but for different reasons. Corey is treated as the crazy kid who accidentally killed that little asshole while Laurie is treated as the one who allowed Michael to come to Haddonfield and kill. Laurie never killed anyone. Corey started off by killing that kid. Both Laurie and Allison know this. Laurie gives him the knife and Allison sees the end result with his cut after crushing a bottle with superior strength. Laurie ignites the fire while Allison fans the flames. Michael is just the white noise of this movie. Allison tells Corey of the people that have scored her and how she wants to burn the town so what does Corey do? Kills those who scorned her. Even though he didn't kill them, he was indirectly involved so yeah, he did kill them. Then he kills the ones that bullied him thanks to Laurie setting him in that direction. By the time Laurie figures out Corey is out of control, it's too late. She set the evil in him loose and she knows it's only time before she's next. Corey wants Allison but only as a means of transferring his evil to her as well. She lost her mother and father. Corey lost his mother and father/uncle/ male figure. Laurie lost a daughter. That's the only blood relative she lost in 4 movies. Corey and Allison lost everything...think about that and who was the cause of that? Laurie Strode. She wanted Michael to escape. Why?? She lost two friends..that's it. Linda and Annie were her best friends but they were not family. Why did she go so extreme for years yet she did nothing when Karen died. Getting back on track....when Corey finally goes after Laurie, she subdues him but doesn't kill him. He slits his own throat. That's his attempt at getting Allison to go after Laurie and become him. Then enters Michael and we know what happens after that. Halloween Kills is all about Laurie and Allison seeking vengeance against those that wronged them whether it's people or the town of Haddonfield via Corey using their own methods. The ending...Allison drives off mission accomplished. Laurie chills on her porch mission accomplished. Both got their revenge.
It should've been just the one movie as it was supposed to be. It would've been absolutely legendary. Not that it isn't now but with each movie the story looses it's power.
Taking off the mask in H20 would do nothing. Lori got a glimpse of Michael once 20 years prior. She would have no clue what his face looked like vs. Someone else's face. Save for maybe the messed up eye. (Which clearly isn't present in h20 anyway, you can see both of Michael's eyes through the mask.
U hit it on the nail! Halloween unlike it’s counterparts has movies in each decade since 78. This allowed Michael/Halloween to be able to adapt to modern times. I actually think this benefited the franchise tbh. I loved Halloween 18 & Halloween Kills. Also some of the trilogy hate wasn’t only from Halloween fans it was from a few fanboys of other franchises who were kinda jealous … just gonna leave it at that.
i woulda enjoyed halloween ends a lot more if it was strictly a laurie, hawkins, allyson, lindsay, and michael movie and showing the audience laurie being in therapy and how she's coping with the loss of karen and disappearance of michael, but i feel the corey and michael plot is nature (michael) and nurture (corey) and how evil can come from both
Somebody pointed out that they had to make Michael power down somehow otherwise he simply would’ve killed Laurie without much of an effort He almost did the last time, and she was completely prepared So I guess that makes sense
Black people loved resurrection busta had me weak because I could see us talking shit to Michael “u don’t get u don’t get it”🤣🤣”looking a lil crispy Mikey like some chicken fried”😭😭
Considering how generally hated this movie was and still is....I 'm honestly happy for ANYONE who actually really loved and enjoyed it. I know I didn't.
Crushed larynx, definite head trauma/concussion from going through a car windshield, getting run over, etc. Disoriented, confused....no wonder he didn't take the mask off. It's everyone's biggest complaint about this movie but everyone seems to miss all of these things while simultaneously pointing out all of the other unrealistic things about this movie, and this scene in particular. Even if he did take the mask off...Lori hasn't seen him in 20 years, she has no idea what he looks like. This is someone who Lori personally stabbed in one eye with a coat hanger, then shot both of his eyes out (in this continuity) and in the scene in this movie where they look through the window at each other the viewers, and Lori for that matter, can clearly see both of Michael's eyes. Lori would have zero way of knowing what he looked like without a the mask. Couple that with the fact that a lot of times when people are in fight or flight mode and their adrenaline is pumping they tend to make rash, impulsive, or poorly thought out decisions in the heat of the moment. I maintain that the "just take the mask off" is the weakest argument for the retconning of the ending of H20
halloween ends is absolutely ridiculous…although Halloween kills went a little off with the the last scene of people atleast it was still good just like the first of the trilogy…”ends” completely dropped the ball and disregarded the fact that people came to see the shape and not this bizarre version in which the boyfriend somehow became him…in my opinion they made the same mistake as 4-5 when he somehow had a connection with jamie….halloween ends is the epitome of halloween 3 (original) only that michael was actually in it
A fantastic little editorial retrospective. I watched both parts and generally am in the same camp on most of what you said. I think I liked 6 more than you did. But it was one of those movies i latched onto as a teenager, also i haven't watched it in years. Rudd is comically bad but I was interested to see where the thorn story would go. (Keep in mind this is before the internet and we never knew about all the production issues) i legit thought thats where the series was going) I saw 4 in theaters as a kid and its right there with 78 for me (i know, i know.. sacrilidge) I agree about 2018 and H20. And i think ENDS was... not the finale we needed but a good movie all around. I loved Kills... and once again there was zero payoff. 2018 was great and Kills would have been great with a real finale. But then we got Corey which felt like some weird 3-esque left turn. So strange. Halloween is my favorite series. There isn't even a close second. That said I completely know that nostalgia has placed these movies (yes, even 3) firmly in my heart. But, i just wanted write you. Let you know I subbed and will be checking out more content. And thanks for making a few hours of my workday go by much faster. Oh one last thing... I dispised RZ's two Halloween movies when released. I went back and watched them last year, and really... when not viewed as a Halloween film they are not too bad. That scene... ugh... Zombie writes like a 13 year old boy who hates the pretty girls at his school. Man, your "Hillbilly Horror" is gonna stick with me. Lol Anyway, fantastic work. Very well spoken and thought out. If you wandered into my coffee shop (which has a life sized michael standing in the corner by the way) we would talk for hours lol. Thanks again!
Yes!!! H20 was the last film. No need to go into Resurrection. The only positive thing about resurrection and I'm really digging deep here was I do like the fact that Laurie Strode's look's more like the original Laurie Strode than in H20.
rob zombies was the first micheal myers film i've ever saw so i like it and it most definitely has the most brutal micheal of them all ( we don’t talk about the second movie though.. )
Jamie Lee Curtis really did setup the next Halloween movie (Halloween Resurrection) for failure and really should’ve stop there and let to rest until the remake would come along
I thought the same thing of how can she stop when she knows he’s still out there Unless she came to terms with the fact that he doesn’t even care who she is Even in this movie, he doesn’t see her out He is following Corey
I completely understand wanting the TV series being an anthology series. But I highly doubt mirmax bought the rights to make anything but a michael myers series. Luckily, tv has a proven track record of producing absolutely hands down must see content. Give ghe reigns to the right creatives, and we're in to for one good scare 🎃
I recently watched each Halloween movie I could find on the streaming services I have. I own the original and II. I found Zombie's Halloween movies on Max (I think) with H20 and Resurrection on Paramount Plus. I didn't find IV, V and VI but I think VI is on Paramount. I like the original and II. I also liked H20 and the 2018 movie. After that it became a slog to get through. I watched Zombie's movie when it first came out. I didn't watch it again for years until I decided to watch all the movies I could find. I just found it jarring to watch. I found I didn't like the characters but I agree Tyler Mayne's portrayal really frightening. I decided against watching H2 but after your description I may give it a shot.
You wanna get a little weird? In h20s continuity, Michael and Laurie are brother and sister....So her son, gives us a little bit of an idea of what Michael could look like, or what he did look like at that age.
Think for the TV show, it can start with ending the Michael meyers story AGAIN or just retell it, then the next ep is a copycat killer or just another evil inspired by him. Maybe it’s just the new guy coincidentally being like Micheal. Then move away from slashers. Maybe there’s a parody of how meyers inspired so many killers including knock off jason, knock off freddy, ect
GREAT JOB! My Ranking of all the Halloween movies is as follows: Best to worst imho and taste 1) RZ Halloween (love every single thing about this movie except the language in the kitchen. My most fav Michael of all.) 2) RZ Halloween II (love everything about this movie except the ending, but don't hate the ending, just felt there could've been a better one, would've preferred if Laurie stabbed Michael and then she walked out holding his mask and fell to her knees and stared at it, then the image of her insane and waiting for the mother and white horse or she stabs Michael, walks out falls to her knees and then he comes out behind her and the cops shoot him repeatedly as she screams) 3) 1978 Halloween (I like the suspense of it but its not great in many ways, but it is strong as a whole due to story and vibe) 4) Halloween II (love the vibe, setting and intensity) 5) Halloween 4 (love the main antagonist and story) 6) Halloween Ends (I actually enjoyed the story and the acting, great visually. I enjoy rewatching this one) 7) Halloween 2018 (Great look but the new story line is weak considering how Michael ends up back in her house, but I have grown to look past it and the movie is growing on me. I use to have it ranked behind H20 and part 6) 8) Halloween H20 (great movie except the masks, the odd interaction before she kills him, and the one arm drop) 9) Halloween 6 (I actually love this Michael a lot out of the first 6 movies. Don't love the storyline with Jamie) 10) Halloween 3 (decent Halloween holiday vibe, but feels cheesy at many points) 11) Halloween Kills (I want to put this higher for cinematography and kills and I really liked it when I saw it the first time, but the acting (except for Allyson - loved her and her boyfriend, and Karen) and dialog make me frustrated and annoyed) 12) Halloween 5 (Nothing good about this movie in my opinion - I wish I could find something, but I can't - I wouldn't watch it again unless I was doing a complete marathon in order but even then I would probably skip it) 13) Halloween Resurrection (I would watch this again on up to the fight scene at the end. I really love the concept of the live stream and them staying there on Halloween night. I just think it was poorly done and adding Busta and Vanessa sadly hurt the film. They did what they were asked to do, but the characters were bad. The jump scare at the end was bad and so was the way his masked looked and him looking)
I grew up with the original sequels and Halloween 1978 has always been my favorite horror movie. I still enjoy the original sequels but I actually prefer the new trilogy. They actually made Michael scary again and he looks perfect. James Jude Courtney is also my favorite Michael next to Castle just like you. Halloween 2018 is a great sequel, and I love Kills. Kills has issues but it's a damn good slasher where Michael is brutal and scary. Yes, I actually really enjoyed Ends. I get the hate for it but I really like it. Once the new trilogy came out my ranking changed into 1. Halloween 1978 2. Halloween 2018 3 Halloween kills 4. Halloween Ends
I was ok with Zombie’s Halloween because it had some back story the others didn’t offere. I expected the gore. I wasn’t sold on H2 at all because of the supernatural stuff. Michael is already on another level as it is. I didn’t want or need a supernatural trip on top of that
I literally thought this video has 250k views when I clicked on it! This video is SO GOOD! I associate something of this quality with someone who has 100k to 500k subscribers! If you keep producing videos like this one, or like your video about Hellfire, you will reach that bench mark soon! ❤ You're 1 step closer anyway, as I just subscribed 😊
I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on the Hereditary and Midsommar, maybe with connections to older horror movies involving grief. I'd also wanna hear your opinions on Japanese horror! Either J-Horror or the older classics :D
Great suggestions! I made a video last year where I recommended Hereditary, but I'd definitely love to do a more comprehensive dive into it in the future. J-Horror definitely deserves some love as well. Golden ideas that I'll definitely consider. Appreciate your comment and view!
They use Michael as an excuse A great number of people use the past as an excuse Everything from slavery to the financial crisis to whatever But today is a new day And it is always up to the individual You can’t hope to solve the worlds problems until you begin with yourself
Maybe Kevin Williamson could’ve had Joey Potter choose Michael Myers, instead of Dawson That would be right up his alley I think that he and Joss Sweden and the Weinstein should form their own company They can get Puff Daddy as their spokesperson
The only issue I had with H20 besides the mask obviously was Laurie's look. She just looks and acts like Jamie lee Curtis w the hair and the way she speaks, even down to the cussing w F bombs. Laurie does not act like that and she has blonder, longer hair. She looks more like Laurie in 2018. I do however love the epic showdown, which was Jamie's idea, along w the idea to make H20 when she went to John and Debra to do a 20th Anniversary. I do miss the og music score. ...and it makes better sense for them to be siblings. Otherwise why would he go after her. That was a problem they tried to rework in 2018 but didn't work.
Hi, thank you for talking about the rob zombie film with that disgusting scene. I immediatly switched it off and have not watched a Rob Zombie film since. It was for shock value and I hate sexual violence against women (and anyone of course, but it always seems to be against women) just for shock value. I actually thought we were going to see some character from Michael, maybe he could have saved her and left her alive after brutally killing the attackers, but he didn't, she died just as brutally. I haven't watched another halloween film since. I just wish male directors and writers would stop this needless sexual violence because they obviously don't understand the actual real life trauma of victims and it's even worse when they admit that its just for shock, no story, no character reasoning just because they could get away with it
And let's not talk about Resurrection due to the fact that John Carpenter had to cut the script of Halloween 2 a couple of times because what Rick did he didn't like and then now Rick has full control over Resurrection so I wonder what Halloween 2 would have looked at like if Rick had been at the helm?????😮
I can agree with your opinions on rob zombies. Halloween too. It was just complete garbage all the way through. And the whole white horse thing. Are you seriously kidding me? That's even worse than the thorn trilogy, that's even worse, heck. That's even worse than resurrection. And that's just that part.
Is there any legitimate reason why the mask looks so terrible in 456 H2O and resurrection? People who hate Rob Zombie can at least admire the fact that for the first time ever someone took the time to make the mask look like the original I don’t know if it’s laziness or incompetence, but there is no excuse for how stupid Michael looks and some of those movies Try to overlook it and the rest of it is my opinion. I really like the Godfather, but why do they have all the Italian people in it?
I love Halloween Kills because it is(in my opinion) peak Michael Myers i watched that movie and got exactly what i wanted: Michael killing people😂 buuuuuuuuuuuuuut as much as i love that part of the movie i pretty much hate all of the mob and hospital stuff
I don't feel like the Trinity is mad it's just that I feel like the last one probably should have been the first one and the first one should have been the second and then they should have killed him at Halloween kills but that's my opinion. Due to the fact that Halloween ends didn't end the way I feel like it should have it feels like it was shoehorned in as the shape did what he had to do but why are we just not talking about a guy named Corey who we never met before who reverts to someone from Christine. I mean if he should have been a character that we would have known about earlier than we probably wouldn't have been so confused but I understand that he said that the first one was Karen the second one is Lori the third one is Allison but it just doesn't play out that way of my mind😮
I disagree with you on your opinions on the t.V.Show being about an anthology story. It's not what the fans want and it's something that proved true when Halloween 3 came out.Although halloween three was a great standalone film it did not gross as much in the box office and a lot of fans were clamoring for michael's return. My take on that is don't make the same mistake twice.
Also I know I'm commenting a lot but this movie and the last movie it has to do with Jamie Lee Curtis and her I believe her socialism within the community of activism. So I think that it's a lot of her saying and she has a lot of pull because of her social status I believe that she had a lot to do with the commentary between kills and ends
Tyler Mane is the best portrayl of Michael since Nick Castle & Dick Warlock. Also the 2nd sequels after the 2018 are like th sequel trilogy. 1st a love letter to what came before. The follow up...you had something but you lost the narrative for me
If you’re uncomfortable with such a topic, then why in the hell would you be watching horror films? I guess they’re not uncomfortable with people getting their throat slit
H20 is the absolute WORST film out of the ENTIRE series. I can name off MORE reasons WHY it is the absolute worst one, even over 5, RZH1, RZH2, and ENDS. Both versions of H6 have their faults, but it's still way better than this dumpster juice.
Look! An analysis of a series I can't stand!!! (Or at least couldn't until 2018 and the first 2 of the new trilogy were bangers with cohesive if not entirely sensical plots) ok. I'm here to hear it!
H20 and Resurrection are both bad movies, and worse than that they are lame. I would rather watch Curse twice. I will never watch the modern trilogy because I just don’t care. There was a time for endless sequels and it passed 30 years ago. Halloween: Taylor’s Version is the vibe I get. Enough.

Thank you for your work 💜💜💜
What did you think? I'm interested to get an outsiders perspective
Someone said Halloween kills are supposed to represent how tough everyone talks until they’re actually faced with the danger that they think they’re going to do something about and then they just fall apart
Joe Grizzly is one of my favorite characters of all time too
You are the only RUclipsr reactor, whoever mentioned the fact that a normal person survived flying through the window at 60 miles an hour
Bravo
I think your statement about Ends being too afraid to take advantage of the opportunities it had to stand out was perfect. Something I've been thinking over with Corey is how it actually makes sense that he is an imperfect "clone" of The Shape. Corey is a representation of not only how evil can be lurking within anyone, but how evil can be fostered and grown from the actions of others as well. I like the way you frame the differences between Corey and Michael. I think this film will be reassessed in the future.
@@andevil777 it almost feels out of place as a trilogy. I think this film would do/be perceived better if it wasn't connected to Laurie or Allison
The ghost moan in resurrection where michael gets kicked in the balls is hilarious
😂😂😂 that’s the best description of that sound that I’ve seen
He still scares me to this day
The original Halloween 2 will always be the better sequel
You can't undo the sibling plotline. Even if you retcon it and pretend like the two characters are not related, Michael is just hunting her down because he doesn't want to leave a job unfinished, people are still going to keep that plotline in the back of their minds.

Scream 1 was great. But then after that they fell into their own tropes and it became a tangled mess

I have watched lots of Halloween retrospectives and really enjoyed your perspective. Great job
John Carpenter when making Michael Myers:He's a mysterious killer, one who's motives are unknown to all, as if he's just simply evil incarnate.
Literally every other Halloween movie besides 3:Oh, why don't we give this scary character more motivations, despite the fact he doesn't have any LITERALLY being the point!
it's hilarious to me how Carpenter made the best film in the series, a decent sequel to that one and in the near 40 years of the series, there wasn't a sequel as good until he returned in 2018 and basically said "Sit down kids, let me show you how a real Halloween is made"
That’s the issue with sequels in general. Things have to be answered and motives given or you’re just making the same movie over and over.
The scene makes sense in so far as it gets Michael’s door open
I’ve never understood where the hell they were taking him in the theatrical cut
I reall enjoyed both these retrospectives. Really well dissected!
It's criminal this doesnt have way way way more views
Maybe he doesn't kill Busta as fake Michael Myers in order to have a decoy and keep everyone confused and thinking it's not real, allowing him to more effectively maneuver within any given situation.
Can 't believe someone actually made at least some sense from that awful flick. If only writers came out with that idea and developed it to a degree....maybe it would end up as D-....instead of pure F. ;)
This is one of the best commentaries of this franchise that I've seen. Well done 👍
I'll jump to Halloween Ends.....
Fantastic assement of Halloween Ends. Well done. Thanks for the vids.
As a sequel to Halloween 2, there's no way for H20 to ditch the sibling plotline....
Child's Play 3 was awesome. It showed Andy's growth. The worse was the films that came after that, especially the Seed of Chucky
Fantastic overview of one of the greatest horror franchise ever.
These Halloween retrospectives are awesome! Great job dude!
i woulda enjoyed halloween ends a lot more if it was strictly a laurie, hawkins, allyson, lindsay, and michael movie and showing the audience laurie being in therapy and how she's coping with the loss of karen and disappearance of michael, but i feel the corey and michael plot is nature (michael) and nurture (corey) and how evil can come from both
What a fantastic retrospective! I truly enjoyed your videos and hope to see more in the future!
Somebody pointed out that they had to make Michael power down somehow otherwise he simply would’ve killed Laurie without much of an effort
He almost did the last time, and she was completely prepared
So I guess that makes sense
This is an amazing video. Thank you so much for this. As a huge fan of Halloween you're amazing
halloween ends is absolutely ridiculous…although Halloween kills went a little off with the the last scene of people atleast it was still good just like the first of the trilogy…”ends” completely dropped the ball and disregarded the fact that people came to see the shape and not this bizarre version in which the boyfriend somehow became him…in my opinion they made the same mistake as 4-5 when he somehow had a connection with jamie….halloween ends is the epitome of halloween 3 (original) only that michael was actually in it
You like horror AND Disney? My kind of man!!!
Loving your videos man! Started with the Disney villains video. Always nice to see a new upload.
Thank you so much!
(Keep in mind this is before the internet and we never knew about all the production issues) i legit thought thats where the series was going)
I saw 4 in theaters as a kid and its right there with 78 for me (i know, i know.. sacrilidge)
I agree about 2018 and H20.
Lol
Anyway, fantastic work.
I really enjoyed this!
rob zombies was the first micheal myers film i've ever saw so i like it and it most definitely has the most brutal micheal of them all ( we don’t talk about the second movie though.. )
Jamie Lee Curtis really did setup the next Halloween movie (Halloween Resurrection) for failure and really should’ve stop there and let to rest until the remake would come along
Awesome watch thanks dude
I thought the same thing of how can she stop when she knows he’s still out there
Unless she came to terms with the fact that he doesn’t even care who she is
Even in this movie, he doesn’t see her out
He is following Corey
I like Lake Placid too, and Betty White, Chef's kiss.
I honestly had no idea H20 was a direct sequel to 2 I just assumed it followed on from Halloween 6.
GREAT JOB! My Ranking of all the Halloween movies is as follows:
Best to worst imho and taste
1) RZ Halloween (love every single thing about this movie except the language in the kitchen. My most fav Michael of all.)
2) RZ Halloween II (love everything about this movie except the ending, but don't hate the ending, just felt there could've been a better one, would've preferred if Laurie stabbed Michael and then she walked out holding his mask and fell to her knees and stared at it, then the image of her insane and waiting for the mother and white horse or she stabs Michael, walks out falls to her knees and then he comes out behind her and the cops shoot him repeatedly as she screams)
3) 1978 Halloween (I like the suspense of it but its not great in many ways, but it is strong as a whole due to story and vibe)
4) Halloween II (love the vibe, setting and intensity)
5) Halloween 4 (love the main antagonist and story)
6) Halloween Ends (I actually enjoyed the story and the acting, great visually. I enjoy rewatching this one)
7) Halloween 2018 (Great look but the new story line is weak considering how Michael ends up back in her house, but I have grown to look past it and the movie is growing on me. I use to have it ranked behind H20 and part 6)
8) Halloween H20 (great movie except the masks, the odd interaction before she kills him, and the one arm drop)
9) Halloween 6 (I actually love this Michael a lot out of the first 6 movies. Don't love the storyline with Jamie)
10) Halloween 3 (decent Halloween holiday vibe, but feels cheesy at many points)
11) Halloween Kills (I want to put this higher for cinematography and kills and I really liked it when I saw it the first time, but the acting (except for Allyson - loved her and her boyfriend, and Karen) and dialog make me frustrated and annoyed)
12) Halloween 5 (Nothing good about this movie in my opinion - I wish I could find something, but I can't - I wouldn't watch it again unless I was doing a complete marathon in order but even then I would probably skip it)
13) Halloween Resurrection (I would watch this again on up to the fight scene at the end. I really love the concept of the live stream and them staying there on Halloween night. I just think it was poorly done and adding Busta and Vanessa sadly hurt the film. They did what they were asked to do, but the characters were bad. The jump scare at the end was bad and so was the way his masked looked and him looking)
Part 4 is my favorite.
i legit be forgetting halloween Resurrection exists
Friday 13th Part 6 delves into many of the same themes that New Nightmare and Scream does. Williamson said Friday the 13, Part 6 inspired Scream.
First things first, I like the new thumbnail. When I scroll my notifications it goes "boom, Mason idk".
I'm glad you like it!
I'm always trying to improve my thumbnails. It's a pretty tricky part of the process for me sometimes.
Once the new trilogy came out my ranking changed into
1. Halloween 1978
2. Halloween 2018
3 Halloween kills
4. Halloween Ends
Michael Myers is the best
I was ok with Zombie’s Halloween because it had some back story the others didn’t offere. I expected the gore. I wasn’t sold on H2 at all because of the supernatural stuff. Michael is already on another level as it is. I didn’t want or need a supernatural trip on top of that
I literally thought this video has 250k views when I clicked on it! This video is SO GOOD! I associate something of this quality with someone who has 100k to 500k subscribers! If you keep producing videos like this one, or like your video about Hellfire, you will reach that bench mark soon! ❤
You're 1 step closer anyway, as I just subscribed 😊
I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on the Hereditary and Midsommar, maybe with connections to older horror movies involving grief. I'd also wanna hear your opinions on Japanese horror! Either J-Horror or the older classics :D
Great suggestions! I made a video last year where I recommended Hereditary, but I'd definitely love to do a more comprehensive dive into it in the future.
J-Horror definitely deserves some love as well.
Golden ideas that I'll definitely consider.
Appreciate your comment and view!
They use Michael as an excuse
A great number of people use the past as an excuse
Everything from slavery to the financial crisis to whatever
But today is a new day
And it is always up to the individual
You can’t hope to solve the worlds problems until you begin with yourself
hope u will make another slasher franchise deep dive cause this is great
The Rob Zombie remakes are WORSE THAN THIS!
Maybe Kevin Williamson could’ve had Joey Potter choose Michael Myers, instead of Dawson
That would be right up his alley
I think that he and Joss Sweden and the Weinstein should form their own company
They can get Puff Daddy as their spokesperson
A 37 year old trauma survivor/mother/alcoholic would act extremely different than her 17 year old self.
Hell yeah Halloween
I love the Rob zombie ones way better then the David Gordon green trilogy but did did enjoy halloween ends but loved rob zombies version
1:43:07 That's a perfect way to sum up Ends!
1. Og
2. 2018
3. Ends
4. 3
5. RZ 2
6. Kills
7. 4
8. RZ
9. 2
10. 6
11. H20
12. 5
13. Resurrection
(Context: h20 is very good)
I just subscribed to you.
Kills was better than 2018
Couple words bro your fucking awesome that's all enough said brother 💯 from the uk 🇬🇧 👌
I can agree with your opinions on rob zombies. Halloween too. It was just complete garbage all the way through. And the whole white horse thing. Are you seriously kidding me? That's even worse than the thorn trilogy, that's even worse, heck. That's even worse than resurrection.
And that's just that part.
Great video but can you do a Friday The 13th Retrospective next?
Is there any legitimate reason why the mask looks so terrible in 456 H2O and resurrection?
People who hate Rob Zombie can at least admire the fact that for the first time ever someone took the time to make the mask look like the original
I don’t know if it’s laziness or incompetence, but there is no excuse for how stupid Michael looks and some of those movies
Try to overlook it and the rest of it is my opinion.
Rob Zombies' Halloween is by far my most favourite
Or as Michael Jackson
The man in the mirror
I hate Halloween Ends!
The follow up...you had something but you lost the narrative for me
Dude. How many ADs are you going to put in your videos?
Thanks for watching!
@@masonidk6571hey. Just because the films are a waste of my personal time doesn't mean the discourse is. I find it fascinating.
HALLOWEEN 1978 NOTHING COMPARES....
😎🙏💯
H20 and Resurrection are both bad movies, and worse than that they are lame. I would rather watch Curse twice. I will never watch the modern trilogy because I just don’t care. There was a time for endless sequels and it passed 30 years ago. Halloween: Taylor’s Version is the vibe I get. Enough.
