For me it’s my first ride on Nemesis, I was absolutely TERRIFIED of the thing as a kid. The monster, the lift hill, just the entire atmosphere. Then one day I was with a group of friends and wanted to seem brave so I got on it. We were on the 2nd row and it was the most incredible ride! I’ll never forget the feeling of that loop, Nemesis will be missed, but I can’t wait for it to be back to its former glory!

Great coverage as always 🥰 my experience on nemesis the one and only time i dared to go on was around 2015 when i closed my eyes all the way around and was frozen in fear 🤣 but what i do remember is it was raining and after i got off and felt elated after facing my biggest fear a beautiful rainbow appeared in the sky 🌈 so powerful. Also my fave thing about Nemesis is your video on its birthday when you rode it in the rain about 50 million times, quality content, quality channel, beautiful couple. NEMESIS at Alton Towers Theme Park is in my honest opinion absolutely awesome it really is.
The very first time i went on this ride was back in March/April 1994 when i was 15 years old when it very first launched as a brand new ride & everybody was raving about it.
Me & my older brother queued up for it for at least 2 hours to go on this for the very first time & even to this day at 43 years of age i still definitely do not regret doing it at all.
I am extremely happy that Alton Towers/Merlin Entertainments are doing a major refurbishment of this ride to extend the operational life of it for hopefully another 30 years or so.
I fully agree with Shawn in that NEMESIS is a fantastic ride designed & built by a brilliant ride manufacturer (Bolliger & Mabillard Consulting Engineers Inc) of Switzerland.
And also don't forget the legendary ride designer John Wardley as well.
Oh & i almost forgot, please please can you bring back the river of blood theming to the ride (the red coloured water that flows).
I think i can speak for everyone when i say that we all are very much looking forward to seeing NEMESIS again when its finished having its beautiful full re-track & makeover in 2024.
You totally deserve it Nemmy. ❤️

Fast forward to 2016 and I finally get to ride it, I'm terrified but I knew that I'd enjoy it. The sensation of being thrown down that Helix and rising up into the Zero-G roll was incredible.

My Nemesis memory is 1994, may time. 11 years old. Walking down into forbidden valley and seeing it. Blown away. Never seen anything like it. Terrified. No way was i getting on that thing. Dad went on, we did the rest of the park, then me and my friend waited at the end of day as they went on again. Last train in the station i was at the exit waiting. My dad said sure you don't want to jump on? Just thought, lets do it, jumped in and did it. Riden it many times since, although had a large gap 2005 to 2022 so glad i got many rides in on a quiet early season day this year. So glad its being preserved, my daughter is now a coaster lover and she is 130cm so by 2024 she may meet the requirements, cant wait. Fantastic its going to be around for the next 2 or more decades. By the next retrack or eventual removal I'll be an oldish man and still riding!

I know some people are upset at Alton Towers for not stating that its reopening in 2024, but in a advertising way its actually quite clever. People think its closing for good, so are more likely to buy a ticket to go and see and ride nemesis before it shuts, the work is then done for the year and then Alton Towers can then reopen nemesis in 2024 and base it on a story line that nemesis is then fighting back after being investigated by the Phallex or the beast has made an unexpected return thus encouraging more and new riders to come Alton Towers and see what has changed and see how nemesis is fighting back. That way you get both the people who came before it shut and people who have never rode it before.

Seeing nemesis and being too frightened to go on it. It took me 2 more years to pluck up the courage. Then in 1996 I rode nemesis and everything changed. I became hooked on coasters. It was all down to that one ride. The first rollercoaster I’d been on. Always been a huge fan of AT for as long as I can remember (and meeting Henry Hound of course), but as coasters go, it was nemesis that gave me the love of them.

My favourite memory of Nemesis is back in 2006. I was 6 and me and my dad was on the front row. My first ride on the front row and as we went over the crest of the lift hill, my dad says to me "Aaron, I think we're gonna die" and that just made me smile during the ride. Its those memories I will miss and its new memories I will create when the ride reopens in 2024.

My favourite memory of nemesis was that it was my first ever coaster at alton towers! I’d always been a bit apprehensive to go to alton towers but went on a school trip and was dragged on by my mates. Best decision ever and I can’t wait to see the upgrades in just over 6 months now !

Favourite memory of Nemesis is getting to go round twice as the park was empty. Twice the fun! That was the end of 2012 so I was lucky enough to experience Sub-Terra in its first season, fantastic backstory around the Nemesis coaster with that ride. Phalanx acting on top form too - amazing memories!!

For me my special memory on nemesis is my dad not wanting to take his sunglasses off and saying he’s worn them before. Then for the rest of the ride after the vertical loop he was holding on to them after almost losing them 😂

    Memories are...
Staying in the AT Hotel when it first opened with my family then watching & waiting for my parents to ride Nemesis (several times) - probably one of my first ever theme park memories. As well as the Nemesis music in the hotel lift!
Riding it for the first time with my Mum and brother when I first got the courage to go on bigger rides - as soon as it left the lift hill I had my hands up and knew I was going to love it.
Riding it with friends for their first ever time. Including my husband in the pouring rain when he witnessed a rain spiral hit me straight in the face which he found hilarious... and was caught on the ride picture!
What an awesome atmosphere. Love the sound effects - I hope they keep something like that when it reopens.

I first rode Nemesis back when they had just taken The Missile from American Adventure and I didn't get to ride it so we went to Alton Towers and I was about 8 years old going on Nemesis for the very first time I was terrified as it was my first time on a Rollercoaster like this. Walking down I just felt so nervous hearing it Roaring around and then getting into the station sitting on the seats I knew there was no turning back and I'm glad I went through with it and I've loved it ever since and can't wait for it to return in 2024.

My over abiding memory of the absolutely iconic ride known as Nemesis was back when it first opened. Alton Towers is a three hour coach journey for me and my friends so we didn’t get in the park until midday. We wanted more than anything to ride Nemesis, so we queued and we queued. After 3 hours, 45 minutes we got on it. We must have been in queue lines that haven’t been opened in years that we’re high up in the hill. We only got on three rides that day, it was crazy. But I wouldn’t change it for the world. What a ride.

Just sad my lad wasn’t tall enough to expect he OG nemesis. At least he has a couple of years to sprout 6 inches 😉. See you in 2024

My memories of Nemesis are riding it for the very first time with my now wife over 20 yrs ago. It was also my very first visit and we have come back every year since and stayed onsite. My other memory was taking my eldest son, Sam on it last year as he had finally reached 1.4m! And finally, the best way to start the day was that first drop and corkscrew with the red blood flowing beneath, it wakes you up and gets you ready for the coastering day ahead!

I just hope the ride experience is as good when it reopens in 2024 which I'm sure if will be as they must have consulted with the legend John Wardley to make sure it is.

I first rode it in 1995 or 1996 when I was around 16 years old. At the time, it was the first big coaster like this that I had ever ridden and first time I went upside down on a coaster so it was a pretty special moment. I remember feeling scared in the queue line, but I absolutely loved the ride and have been so hooked on coasters ever since. The last time I rode it was in April this year with my family. My boys who are 12 and 10 absolutely love this ride at Alton towers.

Great coverage ! Well done and well documented sad I couldn't come on the last day.
My memory: 1994 queuing as kid in the extended queue line with a palpable fear the whole time, Nervously bending down to tie my shoe laces over and over "just in case"
and more recently coming this year and riding with my girl on a rainy day to say goodbye with 5 wet but brilliant rides!
It is still the best all these years later!

Went on the big one in 94. Didn't take any notice of nemesis as the big one dominated the rollercoaster headlines. Been towers 30 odd times up until 88 but that was it until I went with a group in 96. After doing the big one thought nothing of this ride, in the queue line and up the lift hill. Then a gentle decline, thought it was just a kids ride. Bang, then it hit. Over the corkscrew and into the helix. Wow, I thought what the hell is this? Was stunned. Not been since 96 until I took my ten year old son this year. Visited the park 7 times in last two months. My son loves it, went four times on the 29th october. Three times at the end of the evening. My regret is i missed out on all of those times between 96 until this year that I didn't go to the park and ride the beast.
