I think you're using your best judgment here, Joseph. I personally like shorter, edited videos, since I don't have hours of time to watch long videos or livestreams. Using a shorter hunt was a good way to test interest.
I'd personally watch a longer video, if they were once and a while and not too long. You can always supplement them with some voice overs of interesting facts, if you feel there are long patches of uninteresting content. In the end, if it's too long, but I like it, I just pause and watch the rest the next day.
That's exactly what I did, I watched about 2/3 of it when it was posted, the rest now. YT knows when you skip around through the vids, I'm wondering how their 'algorithm' understands that.....does it recognize that the same person watched the whole post, but over the course of 2 days??? All of it is pretty ridiculous and a lot to think about if you ask me!!! Being a RUclipsr is supposed to have the fun element as a draw, somewhere along the line it turned into this crazy more than full time job!! You have to consider way too many different aspects and demographics when creating content. It's on the verge of becoming something else, something so blurred by guidelines and regulations, rules, sponsors and even censorship, it will become more of a hassel than it's worth!!!!
I enjoyed it. Does YT dink you if viewers increase the playback speed?
Just gonna say this: These long video's are no replacement for the usual short video's, but I am really enjoying putting this on while working!
im listening to it while im gaming :))) i love longer videos so i can just have them on and not have to actually watch the whole ya know 10-15 or so mins

normally I wouldn't watch an entire video without skipping that's super long but I did it anyway, hopefully it helps.

you should do this maybe weekly or monthly because its quite interesting but the edited ones are better for new viewers

I like it, then again I like all your videos. This one has a more intimate, calming feeling probably because you're the only human, so it feels more one on one. I'm always in awe of the relationship between you, Boon, and Shernie. Like I've said, you're The Beastmaster (80's movie) and Dr. Doolittle in one.
I like both the short and long videos- the long one is good for like having on at work on the other monitor so I can still work but the hunt part is more rewarding, but the short ones are nice to be like 'hey look at this guy catch rats with a mink and dogs'. (and its pretty impressive to just have like rat after rat after rat) Also Shuni is my favorite dog.
Not gonna lie I enjoy this chill long vid. It isn’t a replacement for the shorter vids but if a hunt is 30mins or so these are nice to just chill and watch plus there are some really cute moments with the mink doing a happy little skip as he goes off to play and explore and hunt

I’m actually really enjoying this unedited take of minkenry. Seeing the entire process of exploring and tracking rather than just the highlights is very helpful and educational.

Shorter and to the point gets my vote. I actually watched all of this video but I rarely watch a 20 vid without skipping. I didn't know thats the way it works and now I feel horrible for always skipping ahead in videos. love your content.

There’s a silver thread that runs like silk through all your videos ... it’s your consistent attention to train, reinforcement, reward, to be kind and fair, and establish trust. There’s another thing ... your focus is razor sharp. You do not become distracted from your immediate goal. It’s as sharp and perceptive as the that of your animals. You’re the one that sets the animal’s reward standard. You’re the one that determines what is and is not success, and the way it will be acceptable and good. You’re the one who sets the standard and the pace. In your business, you’re the man, the mink man!
I personally like the more mellow feel of these videos - like some comments have probably mentioned already, it's a pretty good in-between as well. I don't think I'd watch this for two hours, but just zoning out a little, you explaining things, watching your animals - it's really relaxing to me :)

Love you content, its exciting so I never skip over anything because I dont want to miss anything. The mink catch so fast so if you skip even 10 sec you might miss it.

There are not many 40 minute videos that I will watch but I found this one interesting because the content stayed on the subject and it was nice to hear the train of thought about what was happening at the time.

Yea ! I love these videos! I accidentally came across them and I've been glued to them ever since! Raised on a farm from the age of 10 , the cleanest farms can get a rat / mouse problem. Grains and other feeds attract them. I love the mink ! My dad trapped musk rats on the river before I was born. He passed away but would love these videos ! Keep them coming. Sherni is worthy of being a favorite. I did enjoy the entire hunt. Even though some parts were boring. But I have never been on a muskrat hunt personally, I must live via your videos on that part.

to be honest I like the shorter video's, but really interesting to watch the training too. Sherni, is a very intelligent dog, & if the saying goes along with dogs that hunt and mind like Sherni does, they are kind of rare to have 1 that knows your movements and voice commands as well as she does. I enjoy watching Sherni, & she is very attentive to you.!
I love the long form: Get a better sense of the terrain and how things develop. But you should not risk getting a penalty if most people don't react that way. I would love to just have a link or a comment, that said how to find in the Vimeo channel.

I actually rewound a few of the muskrat tracking moments.
Post both versions for a quarter of 2021? "Bite sized" and "party sized"? See if creates more subs? Do a few "video shorts" with Sherni being ultra affectionate towards yourself and respectful of your family? Your mink make you unique, Sherni is a superstar without a Hollywood agent to go grab all the bacons.

I think you could do long and short versions of each hunt, when the hunts are under an hour. I understand not everyone can devote 30-40 minutes for about 5-10 minutes of pure action/ relevant content.

I really enjoy your longer videos. I would watch to them whenever I'm having my meal or just snacking. But sometimes I had to pause the video halfway to put away the dishes or grab something to drink. Watching your videos makes me feel relaxed during this rough time.

man, this feels like ur old videos; informative and raw, the only difference is that the video doesnt suddenly cut out after 10mins lol. I really enjoyed this video but i had to watch it in 2 parts. i think videos like this can be a nice treat every once in awhile
