I once looked into buying a go kart and racing that way. Was going to be something like $7000 minimum (second-hand kart, secure trailer, club membership, etc.,) before I even set wheels on tarmac. Decided to go with the local hire kart tracks, $65 for 3x 15 minute drives :) that's about 80 hours of racing for $7000, much better!

The labelling and price tag on the last two tiers of the game really suggest it's targeting the non-OEM car R&D industry (universities etc) by giving them the ability to use the base 'game' as a platform onto which they can build their own models for research, etc. without re-inventing the whole wheel. No idea how real that is, but I've had some exposure to that space and wouldn't be surprised.

I played the V1.28 demo of this game (found the old game files) probably 5 or so years ago. If I remember correctly it only came with one track. Supposedly the standard version came with 3 or so tracks. I think it was supposed to have some highway racing mode as well. Looks like it hasn't changed at all. The thing that attracted me to it back in the day was the vehicle physics tool. It allowed you to tweak all sorts of properties from the engine redline, suspension geometry, brakes, transmission, and more. As a free thing to mess around with I found it pretty fun. Had no idea they had an "enterprise" version for over 2000 bucks though....
Who woulda thought jimmy would be grinding for his license signatures at this track just a few months later

seeing jimmy arguing with his wheel is just EPIC
So you're saying I could either pay my rent for the month or buy the pro version of this game? Tough choices...
or buy an actual car!
The way the car slides and recovers from slides, generally speaking, looks more realistic than most of the more well-known sims today. If you look at the vehicle's direction of travel it stays mostly forward along it's original path while the front-end (well, I guess technically rear-end) rotates. Then, upon correction, the front-end rotates back the other way back in line with the vehicle's direction of travel. This is BASIC oversteer physics that is still pretty messed up in many sims today (especially in sims based on the ISI physics engine like Automobilista, rFactor, Raceroom, Project Cars, etc.). In those sims, you have to often apply much less opposite lock than you should because the entire vehicle's direction of travel is changing with the oversteer rotation - so instead of oversteering, it's more like your vehicle is simply turning really, really sharply with a little bit of rear slip angle; that therefore means the oversteer requires less opposite lock than you'd naturally and this is part of the reason why you see so much very snappy, darty, and stiff-looking oversteer correction in those games as well as why there's so much snap over-correction in those game from people who aren't used to the oddities of the physics engine.
Also, in this game, once the car stops increasing it's oversteer rotation/angle, the slide doesn't just immediately stop and snap to an end because - just as in real life - the car then has to rotate back to it's original position in line with it's direction of travel. Again, this is something completely messed up in most sims.
The sims that suffer from these problems the least are Live for Speed, Netkar Pro. Assetto Corsa isn't far off (but still not as good as NK Pro in this very specific area - especially for race cars but it's still generally pretty good). While iRacing and ISI physics engine-based sims (AMS 1/2, PCars 1/2, Raceroom, rFactor 1/2, etc.) are suffer, by far, the worst.
5:20 far out, lap 1 and already need to change those brake pads 😂
Surprising that we haven't seen a ' last lap distance ' display in more sims.
