  • We are using KastKing braid to demonstrate our TOP 3 Favorite beach fishing methods! Beach fishing is such a general term, because there is such a variety of ways to beach fish. Lets go through some our favorite ways to catch fish from the beach this summer.
    Shiny Spoons- Try starting with a 1/2-1 oz spoon. Use some light line on a moderate sized reel. We are using 20 lbs Kast Pro Braid paired with a KastKing Kodiak 5000.
    Bait Fishing: Using cutbait, and live bait on high- low rigs.
    Plugging: Big plugs, top water, metal lip divers. Use 11-12' rod and at least 30# braided line.

    Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

    Hey thanks for the tutorial. I watched the Cancun tutorial and really appreciated that you took the time to go through each lure. I’ve been surf fishing for about 15 to 20 years and I rarely use lures. For me it’s mostly cut bait but I need to mix it up. Thanks again very helpful. I will recommend you to my fellow fishermen.

    Wow. I just want to say that I truly respect you for your love of fishing. I’ve learned more from you than the average salesman from Bass Pro Shop. I live in San Antonio, Texas, and I do a lot of my fish down by Corpus Cristi. I usually take (2) 10 ft rods, (1) 8ft and (1) 7 ft. I do more pier fishing than anything. Next time I go I really want to fish from the beach. Question, does it matter if my sinker hooks leader are metal? I like to catch Red Drum, Trout and Redfish.

    The Kodak is a very good reel. I have he same one and I have caught 4-5 ft sharks on it. Handles very well. I put 30lb test braid. I don’t use mono backing. I put electrical tape on the reel so that the braid can grip and I have never had it slip.

    I found you with Shore Fishing for Beginners, being a complete and utter novice myself, not even understanding wtf a leader is, why braid exists and not knowing wtf to buy to fill my new actually hardcore baitcaster rig I just bought (yeah I know its not for beginners but Im very proficient at picking things up).
    This might not be the 1st video of yours I watched (I have since binged the last 6 months of your content now) but this one hit home about wanting to help complete and utter newbies like me.
    So thankyou. A few more days of this and other background research (I started with the procedures for a baitcaster for me obviously) and Ill be all set.

    In the uk we use worm baits predominantly and when we hook em we dont hook it like u have with the tenticles as if a fish goes for the dangly bit of the bait it can bite it off and escape ur hook so we thread bait like that up the look amd the line and have the hook about a 1/4 inch of the bottom that way u can catch fish avoiding the top of the bait. However this can also lead to gut or throat hooked fish. Its just the way we do it over here

    awesome video really enjoy using those light tackle lures off the beach: so exciting when any fish slams the lure haha but most of all casting a bait long way out into the surf is definitely my most favorite form of beach fishing. usually wen i cast out my baits, i usually do light tackle spinning just to pass the time

    Alan hawk website didn’t approve of kastking reels for saltwater. I’ll stick with the Shimano stradic 5000 for light-med game. And instead of putting mono for backing use electric tape. Way better grip then mono.

    • @freddybigs10
      @freddybigs10 6 лет назад

      MrLAWAIA The point of mono is not just for grip but also to increase your total line length and decrease chance of getting spooled.

    • @HeySkipper
      @HeySkipper  6 лет назад

      @DyingSavior 6 лет назад

      freddybigs10 sorry my dude, but electric tape is the way to go. Holds great and you don’t have to worry about the braid to mono knot🤙🏽 plus the whole reel can be straight braid

    I already know how to tie a uni to uni knot but i think a knot series would be nice. One video per knot in the 3-10 minute range to keep it simple explaining when each knot is more recommended and the expected knot strength. You could throw in line to line knots, line to hook knots, line to terminal tackle knots.

      Senko Skipper Exactly! It's what I needed years ago when I first started fishing but it was nearly impossible to find and still is. It's not easy to find any one source that shows you more than 1 or 2 knots. Books are the only real option for knot encyclopedias but not everyone can learn off of pictures.

    I learned of tip that using gaffer tape or just plain electrical tape around the reel is good enough for the braided line to grip onto. I've done that for my reel and it works perfectly fine. The more knots you tie onto the line the weaker it becomes. I guess it comes down to personal preference I guess.

    What do think about a pyramid weight on a slider, and a float just shy of your bait hook (mostly for October blues, in the Carolinas) cut bait chunk, orange fish bite, or fresh sand fleas combo. That's my plan anyway.
    I'm also thinking about a 12" steel leader in front of a popper, or suspended crank.

    The only problem I've had with kast king braid is the color coming off, but I really don't care for the color.

      My blue faded in less than a week, but hasn’t snapped like power pro always did. Now my leader breakers instead of the braid. 40$ for 1097 yards of 20lb spooled 4 new reels. I’ll accept the color fading seeing as it’s proved itself in strength.

    I'd love a tutorial on a uni to uni knot! I currently live in Illinois but I'm moving to Florida in a month. I'm glad I found your channel, I've caught one pike and the rest were bass my entire fishing career, so I am beyond stoked to start saltwater fishing. Coul you also include how you spool your mono onto the reel as well?
