I cannot thank you enough for this video. I cannot find a stylist that cuts like you do. I used to have one years ago but she retired. I’ve continued to try to find a new stylist but I am disappointed with my cut every time. I cannot wait to try this but I would love a side part option as well. Thanks for everything Summer!!
Yes, side part, please! I think the ponytail cut looks better, if that's okay to say. You cut hair so beautifully. Glad to see you made it through the storm intact. Thank God!
Def okay to say! I'm glad you like it and yes thankful the storm wasn't as bad as it was expected to be. Still sad for those who have been impacted more though
Thank you so much! I did this sectioning on my long hair and cut a bit less that you indicated (bc I wanted to keep it long) but it turned out really beautiful and soft while still keeping my length ❤
Yes stylists always cut based on center part and then when I do my side part my lengths are uneven. I mention it at every haircut and they don't listen. I finally got them to at least do my face framing based on my side part, but not the layering.
You have the gift of educating. You made this so easy to understand. Your sections are clean and beautiful. I will venture to try this on my own. Would love the side part though as I wear that way mostly 🩵
I love it! I want to try. My concern is a lot of the thinning and precision you did was behind the head and I'm not sure how to do that to myself. I would also love a side part video. And I am really liking the soda bottle. Thanks lately and wonder how it could be incorporated to this haircut?
I'd love to see this or the two ponytail butterfly cut on a longer length. I am a girl with champagne taste on a beer budget over here lol and I love that you're teaching these diy cuts to get salon results. My hair is all the way down to my lower back and I'm looking to cut my hair somewhere between my shoulder blades to mid back.
Always love to see a side part! I can see the advantage of the ponytail method for thicker, fuller hair, but maybe not for finer, thinner hair. I would probably have about 10 hairs in each ponytail, sadly, unlike your mannequins.
yes, I would love to see this with a side part! I had a bad, expensive haircut about a month ago and don’t want to spend money on a haircut again so soon, so I will try to cut my hair myself.
Hi Summer, I have a question, when we start layering can I bring the section down as compared to what you are doing . I want the layers very low. Thanks for the video, I haven't cut my hair yet but it feels like I have watched all the hair cutting videos out there, but only this one gives me some confidence.
I was just posting this! It's easy if another person does it, but how will you hold your arms, hands and fingers trying to cut it yourself? Not to mention trying to see in the mirror. I'd be asking a friend to try cutting my hair this way before I'd try it on myself.
My hair is fine around the face frame area and thicker in the back. I really cant use thinning shears, but I would love to try the ponytail haircut. What is your advice?
I love that you detangle ! Not many stylists do and o have super tangly hair . I’m gonna start DIY’ing it cuz I got charged $56 plus a $15 tip for a trim and light face frame recently! I was so mad they raised the price and didn’t tell me til it was time to pay . I didn’t want to hurt the stylus feelings. So I didn’t say anything. I actually didn’t even notice until I got home and looked at my bank statement. And then I texted her and asked her. Anyway, I will not be going back to her or anyone else for my hair. I’m scared to death to layer mine, though it is down to the middle of my back.
My hair is very thick and fine with a lot of wave to it and is about the same length as what you started with here. I want a very low maintenance style and thought shorter layers, like a shag would be perfect to wear naturally. I paid to get it cut and the layers aren't short enough and looks awful. It looks like no one where I live cuts hair for natural wear. The closest people who appear to are 1-3 hours away and charge $100-400 for just a cut and style. I am tempted to try this.
Both of the cuts are so beautiful. My mom has wanted something like this for most of her life but nobody has been able to cut it. Now she has very fine, thin hair and is losing most of it... I wonder how we can cut curtain bangs a bit shorter with this hair, like korean style.
Sis, I cut my hair lightly Katkat and tried to make it a little shorter when I got home. Because when my hair was cut it was a little long And I changed the cut style of my hair by cutting it here and there. On top of that I did bangs, it doesn't matter I love it🥲But the only problem here is that my hair style is ruined.I really don't know what to do,Every time I think about it, it makes me angry, it's so sad. 😭I regret it so much Now I want my hair to be butterfly layered But I also know that it won't happen after this hour. Moreover, I cut my hair very short Up to my neck right now I've been playing with my hair and cutting it for about a week now.I'm trying to fix it, it's gotten a little better than before, but I'm not happy with this part at all.Does it happen after it grows out or can butterfly layered cuts still be done on short hair?I would be very happy if you could help me.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻♥️♥️♥️
Yes I would like to see a side part since I wear my hair on the side part I have used a couple of your videos to cut my hair I used to be a beautician however some of my stuff is uneven and I have to even it up I would like to use this but in a side part
@StylesBySummer i agree your hair looks beautiful!!! Color and style!! Thank you soo much for the videos!! You TRULY are a lifesaver and the BEST!! I SOO wish I could have you do my hair!! Not sure where your shop is in FL but I live in North Alabama... Thanks again so much for all the videos!!! Have a blessed upcoming weekend
How does someone cutting their own hair cut the bottom ponies in the back? And again, I am not sure how someone doing the cut on themselves is going to start the first layer pulling the sections straight out behind the head, especially with longer hair.
I honestly don't understand why my hairstylist doesn't section my thick red hair and why my bangs are always crooked. I always end up correcting the layers around my face, so I'm beginning to think I'll just do the whole cut myself. I told her that my bangs looked longer on my right side and instead of fixing it, she said maybe my eyes were crooked... LOL... they aren't. SMH
Yes me too! I've been to 3 stylists in the past 10 yrs and I've had to correct all of them. It's always uneven in the back or the front length, and I always have to even up the angle of the face framing. Just had to fix a haircut this week but I cut a little too much and now my face pieces are too short. It's sooo frustrating! And they don't listen to what I tell them I want.
This one is from Hair Art. I also use Pivot Point, both those brands have good hair that is human they have great options for getting, thick or thin. There is one type I'll get from Amazon but the quality is hit or miss.
I'd have a hard time cutting the back sections. I'd love to see someone actually doing this on themselves to see how they hold their hands, the angle if their arms. It's definitely not the same angle that another person cutting your hair can will do.
This whole haircut contradicts her previous one about not cutting too many layers in the back which makes your hair too thin at the bottom. She just did classic beauty school technique of the occipital bone thing. They all do that and layer everything above it, which for my hair is too much. My hair is already thin in the back and that occipital bone thing makes it even thinner. My layers can't start down that low ...need to start higher on my head, surface layering. If they do too much layering its too thick and creates the thin line at the bottom and then a thick shelf where the layering starts.
What I would absolutely love is a way to put a shorter bang into these beautiful cuts you do. The reason being some of us....me....are older. The forehead shows our age. I am 69 yet pass for someone in their early 50s. Not my own arrogance I have been told this many times by different people. But that darn forehead. If it shows the pretense is over.
This is not a good example of a diy. It’s hard for people to see the back of their head that easy and that’s why the other ways work so good for people.
Yes, show this method on a side part, please!!!

YES PLEASE!!!!
I'm a side part gal also. Would love to see how it would be done.
Yes! 🙌

Honestly both are so similar I can’t pick!!! I think I’ll try your ponytail method when you post a side part video ❤️
Thank you so much for these ponytail cut tutorials. I love them! Please do more! Also would love to see this on a side part, please.
This is the best ponytail haircut I have seen!! So gorgeous and just in time for me because I wanna try a new haircut 🙏🤣🤞
Happy cutting! I had so much fun creating it!

It's still ideal to do the ponytails like this with thin or thick hair as it's about getting cleaner sections
Beautiful! Side part please!
I saw your channel for the first time and I love it. Can you make a short wolfcut in your next video?❤😊
Love this series of urs with ponytail cuts
I like the way the DIY turned out

Definitely need the side part version◡̈
If you wanted a v shape in the back what would you do differently?
Great question and something I'll have to play around with to see what would be the best options!
This is turned out so good! Are there modifications for hair that has wave or curl to it or is this best for straight hair?
I wouldn't texturize the ends as much if you're planning to let it dry naturally. You would want to opt to point cut the ends
@@StylesBySummer Thanks! 😊

@@leslie5476 It would be more helpful if she did this on herself using her own hair
