I like how he just opens the hood, reveals the Corvette LS, and quickly closes it, never saying a word!
I know ... right .🤨🤔. I still love the show
Crazy because although he loves all cars he seams to be die hard ford
There used to be a phrase "Nuff said". ^^
He will get hate mail though for a vette engine in a Ford.
Tom is the coolest guy on RUclips!
@@lewisworkshop no his wife is for buying the woodie back
*The best show on RUclips! Your camera crews should be mentioned for the fantastic job they do!*
Thanks! Much appreciated.
@@Hagerty Well said! Couldn't agree more. Fantastic work. Looking forward to the next episode and many more!
Turning rust
To 7
Loved seeing him peel out leaving nothin but rubber behind. Awesome vehicle.
That was the special bonus feature. sweeeeet
Great car, great guy, great show!
I watch alot of Barn Find Hunter and I would have never guessed there was an LS under the hood! Keep up the great work!
seriously!
Hard to fit under the hood of a ‘39 Ford!!
He mentioned LS a few times, but never Corvette
yeah, that's unfortunate, but we will forgive him, this time!
I remember stopping on my bike to look at the 49 Mercury in my neighborhood. Hoping that one day I could own and drive a car like that. I think in some way we can all relate to the guy on the phone.
Yeah, I remember lots of neighborhood cars from when I was 10-12. The house on the corner had an MGTD, and a Volvo p1800. Across the street was a brand new 66 GTO. 2 blocks over was a Studebaker Avanti.
He presents his episodes so well, great at the chat and the engine is beautiful- keep going laddy
It's a love story. Mrs Tom deserves a huge present for her efforts.
Took your sweet time Tom... Been waiting this for months and months..
Finally,I get a great look at and story of your car. They are fantastic. At 13 in 64' I would walk a mile to mow a woman's large lawn. Walking home I would stop at the hardware/hobby store and buy a AMT,Revell,Monogram model to assemble for the week. A car guy was born. "My Woodys outside, covered with snow, nowhere to go now, New Yorks a lonely town when your the only surfer boy around"- the Trade Winds, 1965
That Woody is a driveable piece of art. Ford with a chevy heart, too cool.Barn Find Hunter is the best show about old and forgotten cars. Excellent show Tom.
Your ride is a gem Tom and so is the show. Since the advent of the aerial drone shots and you packing a light into those dark car holding spaces, the show has only gotten better. Oh yes, and more car history from the owners. I know you can't travel much these days and meet folks, but don't give up, we will wait.
Barn Find Hunter is the greatest series on RUclips for car people. And what a story about this beautiful Woody!
"this car is the ice breaker...suddenly people don't see me as a threat...." very well said, Tom. God Bless... I absolutely LOVE your series...
Tom you’re a certified HOOT! Thank you for your sharing your knowledge with us.
I fell in love with this show the first time I seen it. Im a truck driver down south and I've seen some of the cars Tom has had on the show. Im always looking in yards and woods just cause you never know. I can't afford to buy the car's i see so i build little replica versions of barn finds. Its a fun hobby and its cheap and keeps me out of trouble. Happy hunting.
My favorite channel on RUclips.
Love Tom, love the Woodie, love the Show. Have watched every single episode, almost always less than a day or two after it airs on here, if not sooner. It just hits home in authentic way that others do not.
Stay safe and keep planning/hunting/driving Tom, can't wait for new episodes!
Similar lost and found again story with my grandmother's 62 T-Bird. Gone in 1998, found again and back under my roof since 2008. You just never know. Love this series, Tom, and your woodie is just right.
Barn Find Hunter is the greatest RUclips channel ever!!! I wish You all the best Tom.
What an amazing and inspirational story you're the best of what you're doing Tom and I love you man, don't forget Davin in redline rebuilds i never miss a second, thank you all so much and God bless HAGERTY ❤
Long time fan. Thanks for the happiness!
Does not get any better than this! Thanks Tom!
You broke my heart when I saw the LS motor in it!
seriously,,, you think he should tour the country with a flatty? Look how easy to maintain this vette engine is. Parts are every where.
Can't blame him, the dude's always driving small displacement VW's & Porsches, makes sense his OG car has a bit of power behind it.
Yeah he was quick to shut the hood wasn't he?
Being a true Ford guy, I was surprised to see the LS under the hood.
@Amplass 333 Agree 100%
I'm not a Ford guy by no means. I was just poking. Lol. But you're right, they all have great motors.
5.0 coyote would go nice under there just saying.
I meant to say, Tom, being a true Ford guy. Sorry.
19 FortyNine would a coyote fit though? They’re a huge motor and that ls looked pretty snug.
My first car was a 62 ford fairlane sports coupe back in 1973 .It was slated to go to the crusher but I saved it .221 v8 (blown) 3 on the tree .Two friends and I pushed it to my house ,about a mile.I saved up over the summer and bought a 351 windsor with a top loader 4 spd. from a 69 Torino GT .Sold the car when I went into the Navy .Every once in a while I have a dream that it's still in the garage. Alot of good car memories from back in the late 60's and 70's. I'm 63 and trying to get back into it again. Good show.
lovely history Tom Now back in your hands for forever Love the show
Now I know why he never showed the engine. I was really expecting a 5.0 Ford in a Ford...
Whatever gets you down the road but he should swap that for a coyote.
Peace Frog I agree. For although he obviously loves all sorts of cars, he has proclaimed himself as a ‘Ford Guy’ on this show a few times. It’s still a sweet ride any way you slice it... just not what I was expecting.
@@StreetTruckinTitan I doubt a Coyote would fit. It is a cool car regardless.
MANY Aussies are shaking their heads. So fvcking wrong....
Yeah I almost unsubscribed at that moment
I'm not sure what I like most about this series, seeing all the awesome cars or hearing the stories behind them.
what beautiful wagon ,,very nice never knew she had this type of engine and trans always thought it would be a flat head and manual stick ,,,great job ,,,
The wood has great figuring in it. Keep it going and happy hunting. Love the series.
The lure of Coors Beer you have mentioned before. haha 1973 living in Tuscon ,playing tennis and making driving trips back to Detroit with Ford pick up,part of the bed filled with Coors and the other part filled with what would now be called "dirt weed" Good Times! It does not surprise me at all that he remembers the car from 50 years earlier. What surprises me is you met a guy that remembers the car. Great story, sir.
I like stories about cars. I like personal stories about cars even better.
Thanks for sharing yours.
For me, it was a neighborhood icon in the form of a 1940 ford coupe with its original flat head V8. Thanks for all you do for the classic car community Tom! Cheers! Zip~
A good point about an old car opening doors for you. We did a Route 66 trip years ago in a 1965 Corvair and everywhere we stopped, we were made to feel very welcome. Of course, many people had stories to tell about Corvairs flipping over, catching fire etc....
I love the stance of it, the wheels and tyres are just right. the sort of car if you see in the flesh you'll remember it for the rest of your life.
Tom I love that car a few months ago your mechanic gave me a ride in it I was blown away. We were putting a new roof of his garage. The wood work is amazing
Tom, we are not on the same continent, but through your series you convinced me to pursue my dream. Thanks to your passion that can be seen through all the episodes, you are the reason why I’m the proud owner of a Mustang 66 coupe since one year! Long live Barn Find Hunter! Thank you Tom!
Very very nice Hot rod Tom its a true Gem , ive been building em most my life (im 65 now) and can honestly say it couldnt have gone to a better guy . Thanks for the vid
About 55 years ago when I was around 14 or 15 I worked for a farmer and we went to a farm where there was a green 1947 buick convertible under a ton of dust and bird poop . even so , it was beautiful . After high school I moved away and when I returned the barn was gone. BUT - - - I have never forgotten that big-ole-car !
Thanks, Tom! What a car, what a story. Thanks for what you do. Your passion for rusty crap is contagious.
I totally agree. That car most definitely would get u in about any where there is cars. I love it !
Tom, my oldest nephew found my Granddad's 63 IH a few months ago and is restoring it. Both my nephew and I learned to drive on it. My granddad bought it new at the local IH Oldsmobile dealership for about $1,600 in early 1964 new prior year model. It is a light metallic blue step side 3 on the tree straight 6 with a manual choke with original rims and IH hubcaps. If you are ever in the Cincinnati or Northern Kentucky area let us know he is also getting his father-in-laws restored 1941 John Deere Tractor and my old S-10 which still runs and looks like new with a 5 speed manual. He has a barn with a hydraulic lift.
Great story. That Woodie is a big part of you.
Thanks Mr. Hagerty for putting all of this really great stuff on here! It helps a lot to get a moment to just forget about all of the crap that is going on in this world and just enjoy some cars and trucks. I miss all of the smell though.
I like the picture at 3:00 minutes in i bet that was a momentus and exciting day! just being behind the wheel that very moment the feeling of freedom where all problems in life are absent those moments are what life and liveing is all about! Thank you for sharing your story Tom!
Tom was lucky to get the car of his dreams back.
There are so many in social media looking for the car they sold, wanting to trace it and buy it back.
Sometimes the best answer they get by the current owner is a NO, but most of the time they only find out it is now in very poor condition when they see it or worse it has been parted or sent to the junk yard.
That is why I still have my car or cars now from my younger years.
Between your show and Davins show. I'm set for life.......Awesomeness
Is an amazing history and found him again after sooo long .I'm not a ford fun but this is perfect in special whit a chevy heart make it perfect .congratulations and thank you for an amazing show ..just bough an 71 Lemans it was my dream for years have something same age as me
What a fantastic story behind that car! Thank you.
Our family lived in Baldwin L.I. for 4-5 months in 1969 when I was age 9. Somewhere in the neighborhood around Shubert school there was a Cord and sometimes 2 Cords parked on the street. I would sit there for a few minutes and admire them, "One day I will own a classic car." My experience pulling up to some strangers house in a nice looking classic car to inquire about one sitting in the yard hasn't been very positive. They look at yours that's running and driving and then they look at their non running junker that's been sitting for years and the price is $8,000 for a '70 Cutlass Supreme or it's not for sale at all. "$8,000 for that? What would you give me for mine?" Maybe $3,000. "Okay!" 10 years later I drive by and it's still there but sinking into the ground with rust and small trees growing around it.
awesome car and awesome story Tom thanks for sharing. I love the fact its got a LS in it... just by the sound i new it had to have something like that in the episodes when you get on it... anyway at 15 I bought my first car with paper route money in 79 a 65 Malibu SS four speed... now a friend owns it as I now have a 64 Malibu 4 speed ive owned since 1982,,, keep on driving ...I think ill take mine out later today
Such an awesome story. I have a 1972 VW Super Beetle that’s been in my life since 1992. Sold it once and bought it back. Wouldn’t ever dream of selling it.
Tom is the best car host/presenter/enthusiast ever!! To hear about his woodys story makes me love it even more than i already did!!! ❤
Hat off to the coolest guy on motoring show and the greatest woody on the youtube. Damn, i even get a shiver when he tell someone remember that beloved car he owns.
Far and away the BEST show available anywhere ! Thanks Tom
Can't wait for more .
Jim
I love the serie, and I love the car. I've been following all these years. Think I have seen every episode, and I will continue. I like the way you talk to people, and meet genuine people out there. Here, the spring is late and still closed roads becouse of snowstorms and snow outside my window. It's been a warm day today, with near 43 fahrenheit, it's near midnight and the sun is still shining. Best wishes from the cold artic.
Well done Tom, lovely story. Your Woodie is a credit to you after all these years. Best regards from Australia (big fan of Barn Find Hunter series).
Awesome back story and a awesome car great show Mr Tom👍🏼
Love the story. And agree 100% with you when you come up to peoples homes they don’t see you as an stranger they focus on the classic car and welcome you. I some classics and there is a lot of people that may not talk to me if I was driving a newer car but one way or another we relate to the classics and start a conversation. Good show.
Tom, I just wanted to say how happy I get when you drive your Woodie on Barn Find Hunters, coolest vehicle ever!!!!
love these cars with personal stories, things that money can't just buy
Spotted your woody parked outside of Zingerman's deli in Ann Arbor, Michigan 5 years ago. You met me along with my son. The car looks as good in person. Keep up the good work. I love your show. Lived in Detroit and surrounding area for most of my life.
What a great story, kudos to your wife, amazing! Was awesome to be able to see you back in the day (in pictures). honestly, the car has never looked better,so gorgeous.
Im in england but love watching your videos. Your knowledge and laid back attitude is so refreshing after all the gobby loudmouths who seem to feature in most american car shows. Keep up the good work . All the best from andy in england.
Tom your the best show on you tube!! Thank you for all the enjoyment you give us all.
A wonderfully charming car! And a great series to follow! It is good that someone can document all the nice stories behind the cars and the owners !!!!
I knew it ! , That woodie was hiding a Powerful Motor inside ! That is a Truly Love Story !
Thanx for a good, happy and positive story. Reslly needed in these trouble times.
Hi Tom the episodes you bring to us are of great joy and happiness especially during my break time at work in Downtown Chicago that's where you have a friend Tom
Love the show. I look forward to new episodes all the time. Would never have guessed that the Woody had an LS!
Thats such a true statement.....many times id go check on a car driving something semi new and was turned away every time but every time id drive on of my classics to look at a car the people was always super nice.....even if theyd just turned me away a couple months before in the newer car
To drive this car all over the place, I always wondered about the engine, thanks for giving us a peek. Have a great time on the road. Glad you found The Judge in Lubbock while you were taking the wagon to the school. Hope you come back, I am sure there is more to find here.
Great series. I also love the Ford wagon Tom picked up a couple of years ago that looks astounding and should also feature at some point!
I remember seeing an abandoned 59 galaxy convertible hardtop in a parking lot for sale back 15 yrs ago, that’s what got me into classics
Most gorgeous car ever. Period.
Love the show.
I am a retired design engineer, worked for the car companies in the Detroit area. We always called it an instrument panel. because it holds the instruments. Never a dash panel. The actual dash panel was on the horse and buggy to block the debris from hitting the passengers. Which then became the fire wall in a car. Why do all car guys call it a dash panel? Literally all car guys do this. Which is weird because you would think people who's life is cars would know what it is. Just rubs me wrong, like finger nails on a chalk board, and makes me cringe when I hear it.
great car! Need more specs! What is the front suspension, steering, brakes and rear end ratio?
So glad I found this channel 2 yrs ago peace
Awesome video and story. Alot of wish we could track down the vehicles we used to have. Great success story. Also a good example of someone who actually drives their vintage vehicle. So many of us are afraid we'll devalue them or damage them. Go out have fun. Life is short. If Tom can do it in a $80-100k car (guessing, have you seen the price of Woodies lately!), we all can.
Very awesome story, been watching Barn Find Hunter for a couple years now and love it. Thanks Ron
I love that you explain how you get your foot in the door with the car....in addition to the amazing story!!
Love that car! I would be looking around it for sure if it pulled up nearby.
I'm glad this video was made. I always wanted to know more about that woodie since I started watching this show.
I never knew this story but am so glad to hear it and for you to share it with us. Love the show , Love the car and Kuddo's to your lovely wife !!
Mike Fifer
Hi Tom I love your show and I love your 40 Ford when I was 14 yer old I knew a guy who was building a 40 Convertible that was around 1970 here in Australia ......there are some great stories of the guys who spend their days building on a budget and its not about the money but the love of the old car and using it for the pure joy !..These are the stories that really speak to your heart not about the guy who spends 100 grand restoring a million dollar Ferarri trailer Queen ! ..Cheers for the show Tom and Cheers from Australia ....maybe you could do a barn find international some time and come Downunder and look in my Barn !!!!
Love the car, LOve the story and LOVE the show! Here's to many more miles in the car, to MAny more shows and MANY more barn finds!! 😍😎🤜🏻🤛🏻🍻
Love that woody it makes the program that much better & authentic ✨👍
Always enjoy your shows & the interview you did the other day. Hopefully you'll do a part II interview, bet that segment got a lot of views too. Great idea for future shows to showcase viewers who've purchased a car from the show and are restoring it.
Yourself, the Woody and the series are top notch....Happy Hunting
Tom, this is one of the best shows you have done. I always wanted to know about your woody!!!!!!!! Happy motoring !!!!!!!!
I love that car and all of your videos. What a great story.
I absolutely love this car.
Tom, you and the Woody brighten my life. Thanks all the way from Manchester, England!
My favorite thing about this beautiful ford is you drive it for real all weather any road its great
Thanks for sharing the story of your car and your road trips in it. Sometimes I feel like I’m riding along with you.
Awesome! There are cars that I remember from walking to school as a kid and saying “I’ll have a car like that someday” , love these kinda connections with cars
I watch a couple of vids without fail when they are uploaded - Barn Find Hunter and Jay Leno.
Bob M. I’d like to see Tom and the ‘39 Ford on Leno’s Garage.
Greetings from Long Island! What a great story. You are the perfect person to own and take care of this wonderful car. Your series is one of the most interesting and surprisingly relaxing to be found on RUclips.
