  • Restoring Severely Damaged Wood Doors: Bringing Back the Beauty of Your Wooden Products - Woodworking Fix.
Step-by-Step Guide to Repairing Termite-Damaged Doors:
1: Inspection: Thoroughly examine the extent of termite damage on your wooden door. Identify areas affected by termites, including weakened or hollowed sections.
2: Terminate the Termites: Take necessary steps to eliminate the termite infestation. This may involve using professional-grade termite control products or seeking assistance from pest control experts.
3: Remove Damaged Wood: Carefully remove the portions of the door that have been severely damaged by termites. Use appropriate tools to ensure a clean and precise removal.
4: Treat Remaining Wood: Treat the remaining wood with an effective termite treatment solution to eradicate any hidden termite colonies and prevent future infestations.
5: Replace Damaged Sections: Cut and shape new wood pieces to match the removed sections. Ensure a proper fit and secure them in place using wood glue or screws.
6: Reinforce and Restore: Strengthen the repaired sections by adding additional support, such as metal brackets or braces. This will enhance the structural integrity of the door and prevent future termite damage.
7: Sanding and Smoothing: Use sandpaper to smooth out the repaired areas and create a seamless surface. This will prepare the door for refinishing.
8: Refinish and Seal: Apply a suitable wood finish or paint to restore the door's aesthetic appeal. Ensure complete coverage and follow the manufacturer's instructions for drying and sealing.
9: Regular Maintenance: Implement routine inspections and maintenance to monitor the door for any signs of termites or damage. Promptly address any issues to prevent further infestations.
By following these step-by-step instructions, you can effectively repair termite-damaged doors and restore their functionality and visual appeal. Remember, it's essential to address termite infestations promptly to protect your wooden doors and maintain a termite-free environment in your home

Just an FYI. There is a new door hardware I invented, ReSecure Latch. It is the perfect answer for any door, especially expensive doors. It solves the common problem of loose door latches or deadbolts. No more glue, sticks, putty, or ugly metal sleeves that ruin the doors beauty. I hope many who watch your channel will know that this hardware is out there in the world. Maybe one day available at Home Depot.

The door clearly got water too many times. Where water accumulated, there was fungus and rot. This is a telltale sign of rot, not termite damage. If it was termite damage, the stiles would be damaged top to bottom.

Yes, you've repaired that door. But with the lowest Level of craftmanship. I think it must be a cheap repair, so it's ok.
