    I call myself an “appleglass”. I have broad shoulders and a full bust and full hips that are balanced with each other, but I also gain weight in my belly first, it sticks out, and even at my thinnest is soft and full, even if my waist is smaller than my hips and bust. I am never sure which fashion tricks I should focus on.

      Totally. To top it all, I gain weight on my arms too. That makes it even harder.
      I've found that long sleeved dresses that are fitted on top and A line at the bottom look good. Wide leg pants also look great. Also, colours! Darker on top and lighter at the bottom.

      Pear and hourglass are very similar. If you are only 1" less in bust/shoulders than hips, with a smaller waist, you would be in between. Otherwise, if the difference is 2" or more, you're a pear.
      She explained this in another video. That's how I finally figured out that I am in between hourglass and inverted triangle. My bust/shoulders are 1" more than hips, both measurements larger than waist.

    I was so excited for this video, especially because I have never seen one of these before. Your videos are so so practical and so useful and I'm so happy you make them. I was sad that I didn't feel my body type was covered. I have a super tiny waist, I have a decent sized butt/thighs and gain weight all over. I have small boobs but I have broad shoulders! If I had a bigger natural bust I would be a classic hourglass but the small bust throws everything off for me. My only conclusion is that I am a pear with broad shoulders. Would love for that body shape to be covered because your tips are so awesome!!!

      are you just assuming your shoulders are wide or did you actually measure them? i have found 90% of women think their shoulders are wide but in reality they aren't.
      but you have described my mixed type. broad shoulders (39 inches), small chest (36 inches), natural waist/slightly small waist (28-30 inches), big butt (40 inches, but my actual hip bones are fairly narrow - just have a bit 'ole butt). these measurements become even more exaggerated when i am not overweight as i am now. 37" shoulder, 31" bust, 24" waist, 36" butt.

      @@bethanyday3471 great question. Maybe I am assuming my shoulders are wide and they're not. They're wider than my hips, and a pear is typically described as having not wide shoulders. My measurements are: shoulders 40 inches, bust 34 inches, waist 28 inches, hips 36 inches, butt 40 inches. What do you think? My measurements indicate balance, small waist, just not a big bust lol.

      @@misskelly2871 we definitely have the same mixed body type lol. though i wouldn't say you have wide shoulders. but they are a bit wider than average (just like mine!). honestly ive only met about 5 women in my whole life who have hips that were wider than their shoulders. on average the hips are a bit narrower than the shoulders. getting away from these specific body types i'd say you're pretty balanced lady with smaller chest.
      how did you manage to measure your hips without the butt? i haven't figured how how to do that. i am only 5 feet tall though.

    This makes so much sense. I'm between rectangle and hourglass. I've always said my torso is short and my legs are long. Too much waist to be a rectangle, not enough to be an hourglass. My shoulders and hips are wide but balanced. The styles you said wouldn't flatter were spot. On. Shapeless clothes... yuck. Shirts that tent out over your breasts... double yuck. Fitted shirts with a line skirts are my uniform. My favorite top has a neckline that's supposed to be a total no no for rectangles (a boat line) and the sides are ruched so it is very fitted. That paired with a flared a line skirt and I look my best. I find cutting the skirt at the calf works best to add some balance to my shape. Bringing the skirt all the way to the ankle looks unbalanced, probably thanks to my long legs.

    I'm an hourglass with a small bust and skinny legs 😀 I gain weight evenly, but by the time I gain enough to have normal-sized bust and legs, I get a protruding stomach. If I lose enough weight to have visible abs, my bust and legs become non-existent.

    Can you help with inverted triangle and hourglass body mix? My bust and hips are almost the same size, my waist is 6/7 inches smaller than my bust/hips, but god damn these huge shoulders and arms 🤧 makes me look heavier than I actually am😤 and I'm 5'3, so yeah....

    I'm a true hourglass and even when I gain weight, I keep a very small waist. My waist never is larger than 24". But as I gain weight in my thighs, butt, arms and bust, I also gain weight in my lower belly below my natural waist line. So when I'm heavier, I feel like all the clothes I'm supposed to wear to bring attention to my naturally small waist also call attention to my lower belly. 😒

    My bone structure is a perfect hourglass but I don't gain fat around my bust area, just in my thighs and butt area. I think I am pear/hourglass

    Thanks for explaining that we can be a mix of multiple body types- this really rings true for me!
    I am in between inverted triangle/rectangle and apple. My shoulders are slightly broader, but my chest/hip measurements are pretty close. My torso and legs are balanced. My waist is slightly smaller than my hips but not too defined. My legs are always slimmest with little-to-no butt. And my extra fat is always on my chin/arms and tummy/lovehandles, kind of like a spare tire effect!

    Love the videos, I'm 5' so it's really refreshing to get petite advice from someone who is genuinely petite herself! Would love to see one which is half way between hourglass and inverted triangle! I look like an inverted triangle from the front because my shoulders are slightly wider than my hips but I measure nearer an hourglass thanks to my glutes as I have a waist of X, bust of X+10" and hips of X+9".

    My Shoulders are: 36, Bust: 34, Waist: 24/25, & Hips: 34. I look like a mix of rectangle, hourglass, and inverted triangle. Even though my breast are uneven, they are the same measurement as my hips. But my waist is about 8.5 inches smaller than both hips and bust. My measurements are like that of an hourglass, but when I look in the mirror, I don't fully see it. I still struggle to find the right clothes for me, because I either look boxy, or curvy with a full bust, or look like I have either small or muscular shoulders.
    I'm so confused.

      Hello princess gamer, I am like you so confused I am 39 shoulders, 34 breast, 28 waist and 37 hips. When I get weight I get it in my bum. Not sure which shape I am. Please help

      @@chiomontenegro Well, from the measurements that I've seen, you might be either an hourglass or a spoon/pear, however, I could be wrong. If you don't mind me asking, have you ever used a body shape calculator before? And what shape do you think you see when you look in the mirror?

      @@MoonSun00 I saw a video long time ago (busbee style) and measured myself. Looks like I was an hour glass but with no boobs haha. I always thought I was a rectangle haha.
      I never heard before the spoon type, I may be that, as I have tiny boobs and bigger bum. I am 5.2 and I am have a very proportioned torso-legs. I think my hips are part of my latin body (that’s how I call my body type 🤣) living in Canada it is so hard to find clothes that fit me well, that is why I ask for some help to find what kind clothes I should buy.

      @@chiomontenegro well that's a bit hard to tell you what to wear, considering I'm not an expert myself. Likewise, I'm still in confusion with defining my own body type. However, have you ever looked up videos or online articles about what a spoon, or a spoon/rectangle body type could wear? And where to shop at? If not, then I would recommend that you check those out. They could be more helpful with tips and advice than what I'm giving you. I hope this helps out a least a bit 😊

    My shoulders are broadest part of my body; there’s some waist definition, but when I gain weight it’s in the belly and the curves go away. I try to emphasize the shoulders and define the waist; belts are my BEST friend. Your videos are very helpful for petite fashion, Chi; thanks for making these!

    Petite hourglass/ inverted triangule. I have well proportion bust and hips, defined waist line but I have broad shoulders and Im not skinny in the legs, when I gain weigth I feel it comes first on my hips and butt, and after on my arms and shoulders.

    I'm so happy you are addressing this "mixed body" types I am 5'2" with small chest no waist and round stomach I would describe myself as a mixed body types of apple and rectangle my features are my legs and arms, I hope that you include this body type combination in your video series, many of us are aware rules for dressing body types are not so easy to follow, because we don't just simply fit into one category, it can be somewhat confusing, even frustrating at times so I would like to thank you for your help regarding this issue.

    Very interesting! But I think I am mixture beteween X and pear : broad shoulders, smallah breasts, defined waist, thighs, and bottom heavier and where I put on weight first... Do you have any advice please?

      I think the tips for the first type "inverted triangle /pear" can apply- but you do have a defined waist, which is a great asset you should emphasize. For that, check out my video on the pear shape!

    I'm deff an inverted triangle/Apple. I've been busty for as long as I can remember with toned arms and legs. My mid section is often the first place I gain weight and the last place I lose it and I've never had a defined waist.

    Shoulders- 33 inches.
    Waist- 24 inches
    Lower ab- 26 inches
    Hip- 33 inches.
    Even though my shoulder and hip measurements are same, my shoulders look really wider in mirror. I have thick thighs. I have subtle curves but I lose them after eating something.I think I have an inverted triangle with an hourglass body shape. Or it's inverted triangle with rectangle body shape. It's been years and I still struggle to understand my body shape.

    My measurements are 35.5 right now 24.5 35.5. my bus is around 38 39 in? When I gained weight like 5 or 10 lb. Usually it's like five I'm usually around 37 and shoulders 37 inch hips. And a 26 in waist my bus is 38 in. Now the thing is my bust area is very long. And it's the biggest part of me. So I think that's why people think I'm top-heavy. And I am top-heavy. But I think our glasses can have bigger breasts than everything. As long as the shoulders are the same as the hips so that's it is similar

    I’m still so confused about my body type. I through that I might be a mix between a pear and a inverted triangle but things don’t seem to check out. I have broad shoulders, a defined waist, a small bust, and a larger waist.
    Here are my measurements to be more precise:
    Shoulders 36
    Bust 30
    Waist 23
    Hips 32.5
    As you can see from my waist to hip measurement, is around 9.5 inches smaller than my hips which doesn’t conform to the general standards of an inverted triangle. I tend to notice that I gain weight in my thighs rather than my stomach or upper part of my body. I’ve come to the conclusion that I am just an ever-changing mystery Pokémon.

    Can you be an hourglass with hip dips?
    My shoulders are wider than my waist, big bust, small waist, and wide hips. But because of the hip dips I am not sure...

    I think I am an apple rectangle, I have a short torso and longer legs and there's not a lot of difference in my shoulder, bust, waist, and hip measurements. I have a flat butt like an apple, and my thighs are not big. My belly is noticeable even when I am skinny, but I gain weight everywhere like a rectangle

    I'm a rectangle/apple. I was a rectangle until perimenopause hit and I started gaining more weight on my belly. I got fit and lost weight so I look like a rectangle once again. Now post menopause, my tendency is to gain more weight in the middle though. I'm short and my limbs are fairly muscular. My whole life I wish I had a small waist to match the rest of my body! When I workout at the gym I always focus on back, shoulders, glutes and legs so my waist will look smaller!

    Even with this video im still unsure what i am my measurements r
    40"shoulder
    38 ½" bust
    34" waist
    And 39" hip
    I gain weight on my tummy first and it potrudes from my clothes even my underwear roll down and im discouraged from buying clothes at all so i tend to wear bulky and baggy clothes. Im 4'11" and bra size is 34 D. Can u please help me?

    My shoulders are : 40inches Bust: 35 Waist:28 Hips:35. I'm caught between an inverted triangle and a rectangle but the thing is I gain most of my weight from my thighs down never on at my belly..

    Still confused a little bit...
    I have a small chest but my shoulders are slightly wider than my hips... But boat necks look good on me while off the shoulders garments disrupt the balance between my hips and my shoulders.
    Moreover I tend to gain weight on the lower part of my belly and on my hips and I don't have much waist definition. But my legs are slightly longer than my torso🥴🥴🥴
    Maybe I'm an apple/pear inverted triangle?😅

    I'm so confused. I gain weight equally everywhere, I have defined legs and broad shoulders, but the sholders are not that noticable, especially because I also have big boobs. I also got back fat since I gained weight, but also my waist is defined in a way as if I have a belt the whole time wich really cuts into the waist and makes it visible. Also my whole belly gets bigger, not just the lower belly.
    Everyone sees my as an hourglass type cause they don't notice the sholders, but they see the defined waist, but I know my measurements and my hips and butt are not really round even tho there's a difference between the hips and waist. What am I? 😭😭😭😭

    I am 5`2 and my shoulders are a little bit bigger than my hips. I have a waist, but it is only about 22% smaller than my hips. I coud be a mix of Hourglass and Rectangle with a belly.
    But I don´t have a short torso. My legs are short and my torso is longer.
    It is quiet hard to define my bodytyp.

    So I think I'm a mix between an inverted triangle and pear. I'm skinny built, small chest with broad shoulders. However I always had a smaller waist that curves in. My hips are smaller than my shoulders but because my waist is smaller it gives me the illusion of a curve. When I gain weight it usually goes to my lower body. Does that fit that body type?

    Apple and rectangle!
    I have narrow shoulders and narrow hips but gain weight in my waist. I have long torso, short legs, no defined waist. After five kids I have struggled to lose the weight around the midsection. Help!

    I always considered my shape to be a 'Telephone Pole' that, in my fashion ignorance, nothing ever looks good on. I am afraid that I am still confused!

    Thanks, I have the inverted triangle shoulders with a big bust and a tummy, no defined waist and basically no hips, backside or thighs - at 5’2”, I’m not sure where this leaves me in the mix, but A-line skirts, and long cardigans with a mono colored, pointed toe small heel has been a good combo. Also, a V-neckline is good. The universal wrap dress is a winner, too. Thanks for your videos, you have some of the best info out for petites. 😁

    I struggle with finding my shape because I have broad shoulders and an apple shape as well as large thighs and slender lower legs/arms. My bust is small though, so its confusing.

    I'm an introverted top and spoon bottom--the struggle is real I probably would be a apple if I didnt haves a waist. my waist is the smaller then top and bottom..so I do have a shape...so styling is such a hassle for me.

    I think im the whole fruit cocktel. I have longer legs compared to torso, big big thighs and butt, medium chest and broad shoulders. And i put on weight on my stomach

    I think I am a combination of pear and hourglass. I carry most of my weight on my thighs and bottom and have modest chest size, but also have a fairly defined waist, average shoulders, and fleshier upper arms all indicative of an hourglass. If I gain weight it goes on my lower stomach as well as thighs and bottom. I feel that if I had larger chest I would look more like an hourglass. Please give advice on this body type 🙏

    I used to be an hourglass but after menopause have lost my waist and butt has flattened and thighs are thicker. Think I am a little of all of them now...I literally am every woman 😂.

    Rectangle hourglass? My waist definitely goes in but it’s higher and so are my hip bones. Figure 8? Slim legs. Hips and bust are the same.

    Waist is 9" less than hips and 10" less than bust/shoulders. I finally figured out I'm in between hourglass and inverted triangle.
    Hourglass: hips = bust/ shoulders.
    Inverted triangle: bust/shoulders are 2" more than hips.
    In my case, bust/shoulders are 1" more than hips. It was on another of Chi's videos that I finally understood why I didn't really look like the hourglass I assumed I was.

    I was so hoping that you would suggest styles for each of these mixed shapes, and you did! Yay! When I was a young, busty, slender hourglass with long legs, I always felt my body was too sexy, and wanted a smaller bust. Now, I’m always trying to make my waist look slimmer (Type 3). I think you should run with the nomenclature of mixed body types 1-4, you could call them M1, M2, etc., that would be groundbreaking and help so many women!

      Agree w/you on 🏵️Chi's utter brilliance. She is the first stylist to EVER identify all of my unique challenges as a voluptuous (not obese) hourglass⏳. While 5'7", her wisdom still applies.
      🤔 Can definitely see how her using codes to differentiate the Mixed Body Types would be an excellent learning device for her viewers who fall in those categories.
      😉 I understand what you mean. Have a showgirl shape w/a girl next door persona. My body has always been way too va-va-voom for my comfort level. Wearing figure flattering, body conturing clothes helps to reduce any appearance of bulk around my smallest mid-section, but that also gives too much attention to curves. That 👀draws the wolves.

    I loved this video but I still can't figure out my body type. I am 5'1, with broad shoulders, I have small breasts 36 B, I work out so I am muscular and toned! I have a flat belly with an 8 pack. My torso is short but my legs are definitely not long, average pro portion to shorter, I'd say. They are very toned and defined, but I purposely hold back on heavy weighted squats so I can fit off the rack clothing. Do you have any idea what body type combo I could be? I'm not sure how to include a picture here but I know that would be helpful . I have an account under eloquentlyemmie and you could view some images there. I love your channel, you have so much fashion and style knowledge. ❤️💃 I call myself an athletic petite but still can't get my body type mix figured out . I would really appreciate your help.       Hi Emmie! Sounds like you have some features of rectangle and inverted triangle- both can be quite athletic shapes! Inverted triangle has smaller hips than shoulders, while rectangle looks like straight up and down with a squarish look.

    I am so happy to see a new video! I think before my menopausal weight gain I was a pear and now I’m pear apple. I was always small in shoulders and waist but had butt and thighs. Still smaller up in shoulders but now tummy butt and thighs. Lol

    As I wrote earlier I am 4,8 but also quite heavy at this point, I am in the process of trying too lose 100+ lbs, due to medical reasons, but like you said my thighs also gain weight.
    Shoulders 50 inches
    Bust 36 inches
    Waist line. 47 inches
    Hips. 56 inches
    Inseam. 25 inches
    Thighs Separate 25 1/2 inches together (51) inches

    Petite and chubby hourglass here. My shoulder and hip bone are the same but my arms are fleshy. So it's give an illusion of inverted triangle😅😅😅

    I would love to see more about mixed body types but first I want to tell you: I LOVE your videos. You make things so easy to understand. I also love your sense of humor! I think I am a short waisted hourglass. I am a busty 5'2" (34DD). My measurements are 35-27-36. I have small shoulders and slim thighs. For most of my life, until curvy styles came in I couldn't get comfortable clothes. Pants were always too tight on my hips and belly but too big on my waist. I have only ever found one button down shirt that fits me properly and that's because it was chosen by bra size. When I lose weight it comes off everywhere at once but no matter what, even though my waist is small, my stomach is still round in front. Does that mean I am apple or pear shaped? My legs are long for my height and short-waisted to the point where I have trouble with wrap dresses and tops. The only clothes that really work are fitted from just below my bust down below my natural waist but that disguise my belly at the widest part of my hips. How can I branch out to other styles? Can you figure out why some ruched items look good but others just make my belly look even bigger?

    I’m definitely Type 3, Hourglass/Rectangle. I was always a true hourglass until middle age, when my waist thickened, now it’s only 5” smaller than my hips and bust. I still have the hourglass look, but my waist is not small enough to qualify for that shape, if it has to be 8” smaller.

    I guess I am a short rectangle/hourglas but with long torso and short legs? But I also gain at the belly/high hipbones... someone talked about spoon shape ? my measurements are 92 (b cup) - 79 - (90 abdomen) 102 with broad shoulders.
    I just know I look good in halterneck, wrap dresses and look horrible with bandau

    Love your content! Thank you. Inverted triangle/apple here not quite 5' tall. Ok...4' 11" and shrinking. Shoulders measure 38" waist 32" hips 33.5". Very slender legs.

    Thanks for your great descriptions. I also am a combo and find it hard to find a perfectly described body shape. I am a ‘soft natural ‘ in the kibbe body type system. I guess a combination of rectangle, inverted triangle and romantic or softer hourglass. I don’t have long legs like a rectangle or inverted triangle often have. I have fleshy thighs and upper arms. I am medium to large boned. I have a soft curve to my waist but become more rectangle or boxy if I gain weight. My waist is never tiny like an hourglass but not straight up and down either. My chest and hips are close to the same measurement. I gain weight all over. I am an endomorph and can look fleshy but can also look more muscular like a mesomorph if I work out hard. I have broad shoulders and chunky feet. I have a butt. I have a fairly big rib cage and long torso. When I’m at my thin weight I have small boobs but boobs become bigger with weight gain. I also have thicker ankles which I am not fond of and feel self conscious about them when exposed. I really appreciate your tips for making legs appear longer, waist smaller, and shoulders less wide.

    Thank you Chi for making this video!! I was so confused as to which body type I am. I have a large bust, measures the same as my shoulders, which is almost an inch more than my hips. However i gain weight on my belly first. If i didnt have a belly, I'd fit into the hourglass/rectangle mixed body type.

    Small shoulders, huge thighs but not a big butt. When I calculate my body shape, it comes out to be rectangle. Also I gain fat around my belly. Am I abnormal?😭😭😭

    Shoulders: 108cm, hips: 101cm, waist: 75cm, bust 95cm but more of a wide rib cage with not a large chest. So kinda confused too lol

      According to your measurements, it sounds like you may be a true hourglass (hard to tell without a photo of you)! I too have a shallow bust and wide rib cage so I didn’t pay any attention to the bust details in the video.

    I don't know??? I'm very confusing about my body type.
    Let me explain to you something, when I was young I always thought that I was a rectangle because I never had a waist definition although I was very slender with almost no bust and a tiny lower stomach. Many people thought that I was a siwmmer for my body complexion. But, when I grew up jijiji I saw my figure as inverted triangle. Then, when I gained weight I saw my figure as an apple with broad shoulder. Now, that I lost weigth(42lbs) I'm very confusing about my mix body. What I am? I don't know????
    Since, I have broad shoulders, 34D bust, no waist definition, a little stomach, no curvi derrière, as usual my hips aren't prominents, and my legs are always slender. What I am????? I don't know.

    I have small shoulders, large boobs, gain weight in my stomach, hips and butt, not much waist definition (my waist curves out from my narrow shoulders to my wider hips. Legs are thin and don't change. Have always felt I was a pear except for large boobs and the fact that I have no waist definition. What am I?

      You have a significantly smaller waist, and even shoulder/hips, which sounds very close to an hourglass!
