i have an fx3 now, moved from an FS7. I miss the FS7 and might go back, especially since most of my shoots are well lit longer form videos.

Bro, spot on with the Sony FS7! I owned 2 FS7 in 2016 (new units) and sold it during pendemic when i closed down my company and now i have Sony FX3, A7R3. I still miss my FS7 for the cleanest sensor and yes when light up properly and the internal ND filter is such a blessings!

Im still using the FS7 as my daily driver, great adaptable camera. I have no real reason to upgrade any time soon for my needs.

If the FS7 II had the same autofocus as the FX3 I would buy one, they are dirt cheap now. But for my kind of work, AF is a must!

That’s a fair point. I did cut out a lot talking about the limitations I faced with the Sony fs7 in 2024, perhaps I’ll make a separate video talking about it. I wanted to keep this video short and to the point but I can definitely go more in depth on it.

Why do you say this is a camera for beginners? Does it look like a Camcorder? If you want a camera for beginners get an FX30, FX3, A7S, an A6000x or a DSLR or a camcorder. The FS7 has every feature you could possibly imagine for professionals: Histogram, ND, focus peaking, zebra options, XLR inputs with phantom power, the largest menu options in history, 180 frames/sec in slow motion, 5 audio tracks, preset button, interchangeable lenses, 14 stops of dynamic range, Cine AI, SLOG 3, SLOG 2, SLOG 3 Cine, HDMI and DCI outputs, CInema DCI 4K, etc. It uses the professional XAVC-I Codec. It has the same 4K resolution, the same Cine AI, the same features as any high end Sony Camera. Why would this be a camera for beginners? You should stop looking at price and age to evaluate a camera. The FS7 has been, and still is, a high end versatile high performance beast. Features and series have been and are still being filmed with it. So stop making ridicilous statements. You should have said: "This is a camera for professionals that still performs as well as any recent camera 10 years after it's release." Your video is clealy pointless.

@@jujufactory I completely agree, perhaps saying it’s a beginner camera was wrong wording. I should’ve said it’s a great camera to start with in the Sony line. Yes it has all those amazing features that will help out with future upgrades into other cameras but I don’t ever see the Sony fs7 being used anymore in productions that I work in. I think it’s an amazing building block and can be used for lower production that will lead to high. But i definitely don’t think it is still made for professionals in the business at least in narrative productions in the modern day. I would also say it’s not fair to call the Sony fx30, fx3, A7S, and A6000 cameras beginners since they are also amazing cameras in there own regard and will help build the more useful skills like lighting and camera movement. But yes I do agree using the word beginner was a bad take but I also don’t see it being used in any high end filmmaking. I appreciate your comment nonetheless! Im always learning everyday and hope to be better!

@@adrianrios33 You are totally wrong. The FS7 is used for feature productions by those who know how to use it. It is anything but a camera for beginners. THE FS7 REMAINS THE BEST CAMERA EVER MADE AND HERE IS WHY:
IT HAS XLR INPUTS AND GREAT PREAMPS. SO LET'S ELIMINATE ALL CAMERAS THAT DONT HAVE XLR INPUTS... BASICALLY ALL RED CAMERAS AND ALL ALEXAS ALL DSLRS.
THE XLR INPUTS ARE ON THE CAMERA BODY AND NOT ON SOME FLIMSY ATTACHEMENT PIECES. EXIT THE FX6.
IT IS LIGHTER THAN THE FX9, F55, F5, VENICE, AND MOST COMPETITORS.
IT HAS A SUPER 35 SENSOR WHICH IS MORE PRACTICAL THAN FULL FRAME. EXIT THE FX9, FX6 AND MOST DSLRS.
IT WORKS RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX AND REQUIRES NO ACCESSORIES. EXIT ALL BOX TYPE CAMERA BODIES.
IT CAN DO 180 FR/SEC SLOW MOTION. EXIT MOST EVERYBODY.
IT CONSUMES LESS THAN THE FX9 AND FX6. THE AUTONOMY IS AMAZING. EXIT ALL LARGE BATTERY CAMERAS OR LOW AUTONOMY CAMERAS.
IT HOLDS UP IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS, TURNS ON INSTANTLY, NEVER BREAKS.
IT USES RELIABLE XQD CARDS WHICH ARE STILL AS POPULAR TODAY AS THEY WERE 10 YEARS AGO.
IT HAS MORE 3RD PARTY ACCESSORIES AND LENS ADAPTORS AVAILABLE THAN ANYONE.
ITS MENU ALLOWS FOR ANY SORT OF CONFIGURATION, LIMITED ONLY BY THE IMAGINATION OF THE USER.
IT FILMS IN 4K DCI... EXIT ALL CAMERAS WHICH HAVE ONLY ULTRA HD.
THE FS7 IS CLOSER TO REAL FILMAKERS BY BEING COMPATIBLE WITH ALL LENSES. THE CLASSIC SUPER 35 SENSOR, THE HUGE CHOICE OF LENS ADAPTORS, AND THE ABSENSE OF AUTO FOCUS MEANS ALL LENSES WORK WITH THE FS7. WHILE AUTOFOCUS IS VERY USEFUL... IT ONLY WORKS A SMALL FRACTION OF LENSES. YET MOST PEOPLE HAVE NON SONY COMPATIBLE LENSES.
THE FS7 HAS A VERY EFFICIENT CODEC (XAVC-I) WHICH WILL YIELD THE BEST IMAGE FOR THIS FILE SIZE. RAW WILL EAT DISK SPACE LIKE THERE IS NO TOMOROW. XAVC-I WILL ALLOW ANY PROJET TO FIT ON VERY REASONABLE DISK SPACE.
THE FS7 HAS A TRACK RECORD LIKE NO OTHER.
AS FOR COLOUR SCIENCE.... LET ME PUT IT THIS WAY... DA VINCI WILL MAKE YOUR COLOURS SHINE AND NOBODY WILL SEE ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE FS7 AND THE FX9. THE ONLY STEP UP IS RAW WHICH IS MUCH LESS PRACTICAL TO USE THAN XAVC-I.
AS FOR RESOLUTION.... LESS IS MORE. NOBODY WANTS A YET SHARPER IMAGE... BECAUSE MOVIES DONT LOOK ULTRA SHARP. 4K IS MORE THAN PLENTY. 6K DOWNSAMPLED TO 4K IS JUST A TECHNO SALES GIMMICK BUT IN REALITY THE ULTRA SHARP SONY AUTO FOCUS LENSES AND THAT EXTRA DETAIL 6K GIVE YOU THE VIDEO LOOK AND WILL WORK AGAINST THE MOVIE LOOK.
IN CONCLUSION: THE FS7 IS THE BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK CAMERA EVER CONCEIVED.
IT IS THE BEST ALL AROUND CAMERA EVER MADE.
