In the days since Vladimir Putin announced mobilization in Russia, myriad evidence of both illegal conscriptions and the sorry state of the Russian army has appeared online. Some new draftees have complained of being forced to buy their own sleeping bags and medications. Others have posted videos showing how soldiers are forced to sleep on benches or on the floor because their barracks have no beds.
