    On the topic of corruption in the Russian military. Due to the nation’s size, the military is split into various districts, each with its own autonomous governance of their districts’ military branches. Each district is responsible for providing and equipping their branches. Corrupt officials often pocketed large sums of money allocated by the federal government for supplying the military. What we’ve seen in Ukraine is troops pulled from poorer regions of Russia, where corruption is entirely unchecked vs somewhat. There are some Russian troops with little to no suitable equipment because of this, and on the other hand there are some who are fully kitted out in comparison. Considering most officials are just as bad as each other, money allocated by the federal government to ‘modernise and invest in the military’, has instead been spent on yachts and stocks in oil enterprises. They’re all guilty of greed in varying capacities, so no one official can take the high ground and point the finger, or there’d be no one left to govern the districts. Now the country is trying to adapt and ‘fix’ these decades-long military inadequacies due to underfunding. And that is Russia.

And that Russia´s economy would self-destruct in a month, and yet they are recording a 2% growth in 2022, while the UK and Germany are in a recession? In reference to the block of wood at 0:03
    That was not issued to a Russian soldier. That footage was recorded just after the Russians were forced to retreat from around Kyiv. It was a decoy to take up time and energy of EOD teams. In that same video a bomb is found inside of a rations box left in a civilian home. Many people were killed when they returned to their homes as a result of booby traps set by retreating Russian troops. Many objects were deliberately left behind that appeared to be explosive devices but were actually just decoys, as I said, to waste the time of EOD teams because they have to carefully examine objects that could be explosives before they can confirm whether they are or not.

    This reminds me a lot about China's defeat in the 1895 Battle of the Yellow Sea. The Chinese Government - under European advisers - spent a sizable amount to create a modern Navy, centered around several British and French designed warships and a local arsenal capable of making modern naval ammunition. Corruption ensured that only a few of the warships were actually built - without adequate armour-plate - and that the crew were very poorly trained. The Chinese "officers" gained their positions through influence, and never bothered acquiring any knowledge of the naval arts, the only capable crew being a handful of European contractors (mostly British and Scots) who were "kept out of the loop" regarding their own ships. When called on to fight the Japanese, it was discovered that the propellant charges and explosive shells were filled with sand , and the European manufactured armour piercing munitions were in such a poor state that most were useless. At least I understand in the subsequent disaster, the Japanese did pick up survivors...

    Excellent video. My experience in the USAF mirrors the theme here. Maintenance and training were costly, but our military and civilian leaders ensured that we were prepared and equipped for real battle. When I see "experts" complain about the amount of tax dollars invested in our national defense, I wonder if they ever flew an F-15 or used night vision goggles or stood next to another soldier trusting they both had the skills necessary to fight effectively together. For every hour of flight an F-16 requires 17 manhours of maintenance. An F-22 needs 30 to 40 manhours. An F-15C costs $23,000 per flight hour while the F-35 costs $28,000 per flight hour. The cost to train a fighter pilot in those airframes runs between $5 and $11 million per pilot. So, owning a $2 million dollar Steinway doesn't mean much if your piano is out of tune and the pianist never had lessons.

Concentration camps were build and operated by nazis and japanese even them only would be enough to lead people join partizan forces or militia coz you are fighting or you will die or being expluateted anyway due to the policy of nazi German or Japan where it was legal. Private companies which still existed even at this moment used slave labor or captured civilians in their production factories, used living people in chemical and medicine experiments and so on. More and more this picture is coming into view of the russians just being generally stupid and ill prepared for what they were undertaking, whole thing is rotten from top to bottom.

    Rubber is meant to be used in some NERA and NxRA designs. Those have no explosives and work perfectly well against HEAT and to some degree against APFSDS. Compared to ERA they generally provide less protection however they are lighter, can be mounted in multiple layers, are safe to nearby infantry and tend to offer somewhat better protection against tandem HEAT. Its mostly rubber sandwiched with metal plates, polymer is used as well. M1 Abrams lower front plate is a good example of such armor. Also ERA explosive filings are valuable and are stripped off damaged tanks right away by both sides. Those can be repurposed for demolition charges, booby traps, mounted again on other vehicles or even sold on black market by civilians.

      @MajGenAHarris Год назад +8

      I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you may just have a surface level knowledge of NERA or you were told this by someone you had confidence in and took it as truth. You got a few things wrong though.
      First, NERA and NxRA are the same thing. Just a little correction of grammar there. Second, just rubber in an ERA block would do absolutely nothing to stop any type of tank round. Third, though rubber is used as a part of NERA elements, it isn't just rubber and metal. Modern NERA is most often composed of ceramics/composites and steel with an elastic backing (for lack of better wording). The US even uses depleted uranium as some of the composite material.
      I'll explain the second point a little further here. NERA works by having materials of different hardness and other characteristics layered together to disrupt the jet from HEAT rounds. It does so by creating differences in the shockwave going through the materials. NERA is only more effective against said HEAT rounds and is worse in comparison to just RHA against kinetic rounds like APFSDS.
      Also as a little aside, the point of tandem HEAT rounds is to defeat ERA. NERA of any kind would have no effect against tandem HEAT other than the already stated better performance against HEAT rounds of any kind.
      You are probably correct though in terms of the reason why there was only rubber left. If I remember correctly, the most often seen video is from after the Ukrainian forces had stripped the tank. Another point, the rubber plates that you see are just part of the ERA assembly process. Used most likely to seat the explosive better in the housing.

We would bring snacks and caned food on exercices and dump the MRE in the garbage can when the Captain was not looking. And we ALLWAYS broght a beer and booze... Additionally, if Russia is indeed the 2nd Strongest Military Power in the world, it should be able to already defeat Ukraine, even if it is well supplied, because remember that Russia claimed that their logistics are absolutely amazing and the best in the world. And World War 2 is different, because the USSR wasn’t even expecting an invasion and didn’t prepare for said invasion, so they was forced onto the retreat but this time, Russia is the one invading, they have all the time and supplies they need to prepare but instead, they still perform hilariously bad. It might also be a result of their extremely corrupt government, which infects the Military Sector. Their tactics are just laughable at best, I mean Tanks in a straight line? Into an URBAN area? @@RememberNoBritish first: are you not understand what sanctions and support mean in Ukraine, even America would not be able to manage for them to not interrupt a war. I admit that saying that Russian logistics are "best in the world" was probably a tool of propaganda (which Ukraine had many if not more of) also Russia is at a logistical disadvantage because zelensky regime occupied the land at start of conflict. World war two was not different, are you unaware of what is called "the winter war". Also other wars are examples of my point such as first world war and Ruso-Japanese and Crimean war. I can tell you live in America who you may be aware is enemies of Russia, therefore, I don't know where you got the idea that Russia is doing "hilarious bad" but a huge part of Ukraine is now occupied by DPR and LPR and Russian forces. Not too mention Ukraine is a giant country. The government is somewhat corrupt but so is US and many other countries. I don't know what fantasy you live in where Russia tactics are this bad, but like my original point: even with all the foreign support+ sanctions, and your "5 year old's tactics" Russia has made huge gains and Ukrainian counter offensive was a miserable failure.

      @@SethGreve-g1m After having a stroke from trying to piece your paragraph together here is my response, Iran has managed to survive international sanctions too and they are still doing quite well. If Russia claims that their Government is not corrupt, they should be able to at least minimize its effect but Russia has not, in fact, these aren’t total sanctions (unlike Iran), many and various western companies still do businesses in Russia. Second, the Russian Army should still be able to beat Ukraine in under a year, even with those limited sanctions and western support for Ukraine. If they tactics are truly great, they would already be able to exploit Ukraine errors at the start of the conflict, and when Ukraine was at its weakest point. It's not all that bad in russian military, the shitshow is not everywhere, sadly. They also have strong sides, and sadly in our Ukrainian military shitshow also happens, we also fight with obsolete equipment, because we use everything we possibly can. Western help is few and far between, comes always late, allies overpromise and underdeliver, for example we still have a deficit of shells.
      But if you want to know the truth, those are just realities of current war, and perhaps all wars. An important overlooked factor is, well, not necessarily the will to fight, but the national determination. Russia will not stop, and will use anything they can to destroy us. Naturally, we do not want to be destroyed, so we will also use anything we can, despite everything.
      I don't think the video is bad or untruthful, it's not impartial, but that's fine. It's not a dry objective analysis, perhaps - it's an opinion piece shedding light on weak sides of russian military, which is very important to counter russian information warfare and propaganda, to shatter the image russia built for themselves. And yes, russians are uniquely creative in a very stupid way, they do shit like strapping ERA blocks on unarmoured vehicles and blowing up, for example. Yes, their military is a shitshow, and they are extremely corrupt. But still, they have guns, they can shoot them (usually), and the bullet will kill you no matter how stupid the user is and how rusty their rifle is, here in Ukraine we have a bitterly joking espression about old/rusty shit on both sides, or about allies providing very old vehicles - "it does move and it does shoot".
      Hopefully, with allies lately mobilising somewhat, we would at least get more shells. Russia has a lot of their own problems (like said in the video; it doesn't even cover 1% of all the shitshow), they can't sustain heavy losses forever. Our freedom, hope and will shall prevail, and all the death and sacrifice will not be for nothing.
