These may have come out since this video was posted, but there is also the Pintech eWedge (cowbell style, $80) and the 682 Drums t-Rigg (bar style, $60).
👍🏼. 🤟🏼 Would love to see an updated version of this video, with All the bar triggers/cowbell etc. from all the companies out there. And a how to DYI bar trigger!.. ?
Thanks for your suggestion to look for an old drum pad. I came across a triangular Roland pd31 from the eighties that looks like a missing part of the space shuttle. With 4 zones (1 head and 3 rims) it has everything I could wish for.
What sold me on wanting the Roland BT-1 is that Jojo Mayer actually now uses three of them. This is man who had said for a while that electronic drum pads in set-form were just expensive practice pads and didn’t allow for creativity. He also never uses anything he doesn’t need to use for his music. So for him to have a couple, they have to be good.
I have the Cow Paddy, and have been playing it for two years. The build quality is outstanding and it feels good to play. The slap sound you get from the rubber is a little louder than I expected, but it is still not too bad. Overall I would highly recommend buying it. Only thing I don't like are the exposed bolt heads on the front. I covered it with a black sock for a while and it looked much better. Dampened the slap sound as well. Just my two cents. Great video as always Justin. See you next time.
I didn't know they existed. I find it easier(and cheaper) just to assign a cowbell or clap etc to the rim of one my toms and only use that particular kit when I need that instrument.
recently bought the TD-17kvx and the CY-13 ride's bell is hard to trigger and low in volume. so, I mounted an old PD-7 pad just over and to the side of the CY13's bell dome. assigned the "mainly bell ride" setting to the head and a cowbell to the rim. worked a charm.
The NFUZD one uses the 1/8" cable because the NFUZD module only have 1/8" inputs for all the pads. Also, the TRRS cable is an option to not having two TRS cables, much like other dual zone pads.
You can buy replacement guitar hero drum symbols for $20 which work fine with my Alesis crimson and take up only a small amount of space. You need to diy a metal or plastic sleeve (old bit of pipe does the trick) as the guitar hero mount hole is a little larger than a normal mount pole.
Just wondering if anyone has heard or maybe experienced, that the NSPIRE Cowbell Trigger Pad doesn't seem to work with the Roland TD 17KVX? Seems like the TD 17 Module isn't recognizing the Nspire Pad. When you pull the cable in and out of the module Aux jack, you can hear the cowbell working. Without it being played. Very odd....lol.
Hey Jason just bought the Nuzed cowbell new I have the Roland Td27 it came with a cable the end is a 3circle I plugged it in a2circle adapter into the Td27 module not getting any sound do I need a 3circle adapter and what adjustments do I need to do in the module if any Thanks
I use a Roland pd-7 2 zone pad. Then I have a cowbell and whatever I want to use on the rim. And pd-7 or pads like it still cheap. You can buy 5 of them used for the price of 1single zone BT-1. The original td10 used the pd7 for a hi hat.😅
Like Justin says it serves a purpose. Only thing I find is if you hit too soft hits don't register, even when I cranked up the sensitivity. I may contact Roland. I like this channel. I am in my mid 50's and go back to using Simmons SDS7's Tama techstars.
In British Columbia BC. I like them I had a 30K. Bought the digital upgrade pack. I sold the 30 unit and PD 100 pads purchased 4x PD105X and a PD125x for floor I use a KD7 for kick due to it being small. VH 11 HH CY 12 and 13. It's moded KV I guess. Found out about the MIMC after. Ironically my local stores will only bring it in on special order, so one cannot try it out.
Alternatively one could build one or more oneself. It is relatively easy and quite cheap. My only problem is the lack inputs on the drum module. Or one could go all in and buy the Yamaha DTX M12! ;-)
Hey justin. Nice video. How easy would it be to mount ,say , a rubber pad ? I’d want to hang it off a cymbal stand if possible. Actually I’m more likely to use a little cy5 cymbal I’ve got laying around.
Justin I ask you a question a while back but I was just want to clarify what I have, is a T25 Roland drum module I want to hook up the nfusd cowbell I noticed that on T25 it has one input for trigger which adapter do I need. 1/8 to quarter-inch I understand. Is the adapter a trrs or trs is these a plug or cable model number is a hosa type I'm very new to electronics.
I'm a begginer that really loves drums I am looking for a electronic drum set . What Roland drum set do u recommend? I was thinking maybe a td11 but I'm not sure. Can you please make a video about it.
I think you have already made one right decision and that is to go with Roland. Which one ? well, the best one you can afford is the best one. Buy 2nd hand , these kits are pretty much indestructible and you will get more for your money. I'm sure Justin has made a video on best beginner kits, but you will only be a beginner for a short time.
I mounted a plastic timbale block on my kit as most of the time I play without using the headphones. Then I converted my floor tom rim to be a cowbell. Btw - can you do a video on equipment required and how to add a pad to KV30? I understand I the easiest, cheapest way to go is to add a splitter cable and sacrifice a zone on one of the existing pads and convert the new pad to desired effect. Would greatly appreciate your thoughts.
There is another option which is called a trigger tube. It basically is a metal tube with a small rubber pad on top. Yamaha used to have something like it (even dual zone if I remember correctly). Currently there are two vendors I know of: drum-tec and ddrum www.drum-tec.de/drum-tec-trigger-tube-pro www.ddrum.com/query?upc=819998180584 I have the predecessor of the drum-tec tube (not the pro version). It does not have the mounting bracket and I use a rack clamp to mount it (the tube has the same diameter as the Roland drum rack tubes). This causes some cross-triggering because the pad is comparatively thin and a lot of vibrations are transferred to the rack. I guess the mounting bracket of the pro version improves this. Although the socket for the cable is facing down I never had problems of the cable falling off. But I am not a heavy hitter. The dynamic behaviour is not super great, but I did not spend too much time into tweaking the trigger settings of my TD12. As a cowbell it definitely does the job.

Needs more Cowbell
Wait ... so you are saying i do NOT need a 60" electronic GONG PAD? xD
Now I want one.
Depends.. if you deserve it, go ahead. Don't listen to the plebs :D
Awesome info as always! I have used the CowPaddy for little over two months now and love it!! More Cowbell!!!!

Oh god no!!!
I didn't know they existed. I find it easier(and cheaper) just to assign a cowbell or clap etc to the rim of one my toms and only use that particular kit when I need that instrument.
Graham Carruth: I use the same technique: assign the cowbell to the rim of a dual zone tom.
I went with the BT-1 from Amazon because I found it for a good price when compared to the COWPADDY.

I think is is the PD-7 or is it PD-6? They are actually perfect for percussion.
Vdrum Tips thats what im using. Pd-7
My cowbell is on my second floor tom using the rim trigger.Alwsys there no taking awsy from anything .
I just bought the Pintech eWedge Cowbell. Hopefully worth it.
MORE COWBELL!!!
Studio217 - yup , waiting for a Christopher Walken signature cowbell pad;)

Next purchase..... BT1 period
Where do you connect the elect cowbell? Crash 2 or tom 4 input?
Eric Lopez I don’t think it really matters you could just change the voice to a sound of a cowbell
What drum module do you have?
You can import sounds and assign them so.....pick one?
Real cowbell, single zone pintech trigger, drill, some sound muffling, done!
I did this to my jam block to give it the block and cowbell sound. It died on me. I need to modified another way so the trigger don't gave out on me
Going to try the roland bt-1 my use is going for cow bell. But i do have a alesis nitro laying around can i add any of those pads to my Roland 17 kvx

I picked up a new BT1 for $50.00 CAD black Friday for my TD 50..
Very nice. Congratulations, hope you're enjoying it!!

May I ask you a question? What are your general thoughts on your TD50? Is it the KS OR KV?
In British Columbia BC. I like them I had a 30K. Bought the digital upgrade pack. How would I mount my electric cymbals on a acoustic cymbal stand or does it just go right on?
Alternatively one could build one or more oneself. It is relatively easy and quite cheap. My only problem is the lack inputs on the drum module.
Or one could go all in and buy the Yamaha DTX M12! ;-)

great video as usual, Justin! I've still got my old Yamaha DD-6 I can use
Just wait for the rise of Electronic Cows, we'll have tons of Electronic Cowbells then.
Can I use BT1 with my Alesis Strike Pro?
Old comment but no one answered .... I use a BT1 with my strike pro. Pintech also has a cheaper version that is fine as well.

Hey Justin Can you do a Review on Electronic China cymbals :D

What about something like the 6" Pintech tube trigger
pintech.com/product/tube-trigger/
or their eWedge?
pintech.com/product/ewedge/
One day I will have more than a basic drum setup, one day!

Rev Crash has my vote
dood ur the best thanks!
A diy solution for this would probably be a lot cheaper and better
Like what vdrum tips did ?
I think drum-tec has a cowbell
What the hell, 100 bucks for a..... wow
Nice shirt :)
Electronic tambourine
The cowpaddy is the a terrible product. Ive had both single and dual zone versions and went back to the Roland BT1 trigger.
lol. You sound sleepy in this video
It's fucking criminal what these company's charge. It's bullshit
Dislike, not enough cowbell
The cowpaddy sounds like a SHITTY product :)
First
