      @@PeterAndersons lol....you don't know what ur talking about. A 1989 model Ariens GT is the best built tractor ever made. It shares its platform with Gravely. It's got a Kohler Magnum twin cylinder 18 with over 40 lb. ft. of torque and weighs in at almost 2000 pounds. Ive snaked 22" diameter 10 foot long logs out of the woods with it and can mow grass down to a 1/2 inch tall at 12 mph with no scalping and no clumping. Its even got power steering and a 950 pound (cat 1) 3 point hydraulic lift capacity. It sold for $4200 brand new in 1989. I've got all the original paperwork to prove it. Anybody who knows anything about real garden tractors can school you on the golden years of build quality from 1965 to 1995 on Ariens, Deeres (I own a LT190 with a Johnny bucket), Cub Cadets ( I own a 1969 127 model with electric lift and a sleeve hitch ), Simplicity, Wheel Horse, Bolens, CASE, etc.
      But, thanks for your input, Junior. 😂🤣
      OBTW....I also own 2 Statesman mud mowers I built myself that will each run over 36 mph that are riding on 27" Executioners with locked Peerless's and a built 1970 CASE pulling tractor. You stick to your monkey metal new "build quality" Poulans and Murrays.

    Lol. Well done sir. You have incredible focus to build to completion. Even if it’s something as ridiculous and not-needed as this. John Deere will be putting your LTD edition performance mower on display soon!

      Thanks mate, we live in a world with far too many rules and regulations. So for me, building things like this makes we feel free to do as I wish....

      That would be something to see, although Tim might win easily. After all, his motto is "More Power!" However, this guy's mower is a true beast, even without Tim's jet engine. They should get together and do that some time! :)

    I appreciate the fact that you actually mow with this beast.
    The only concern I would have is mowing over certain terrain and the front shocks allowing the deck to bottom out too hard.

  • @Farmboy1544
    @Farmboy1544 6 лет назад +12

    Installing the cutting deck backwards means the cut grass has a much longer distance to travel before it gets ejected out of the deck. You would bog-down the motor of a normal 23hp machine with that design. You have compensated for that increased work load, with the higher hp motor cycle engine, so you may not encounter that issue. If on the otherhand it cuts like crap in long thick grass you'll know why now.

      Crazy as it sounds, my riding mower cuts much better backwards than forward. If it were a simple job, I'd flip my deck around. BTW, I mulch.

  • @MrDavidelliottjr

    Deck does cut better in forward. If you ever notice. Forward leaves nothing behind nice smooth pass. Backwards at a long distance and it leaves a small line behind of the cut grass. So if this was foward. It would performer much better. The discharge doesn't work well in reverse due to how the blades turn in relation to the deck.

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  6 лет назад +4

      Thanks for the info, the blade direction compared to the deck is still original, the only difference is the deck itself is turned 180 degrees. I don't think it would work at all if the blades were running backwards too.....

    The reason for it being the other way is because of the direction of spin on the blades and that your driving into the cut as opposed to driving through the cut and hitting it on the back of the spin. Means normally your blades will hit the grass more times after first cut. Doesn't really matter just gives the blades more whacks at the cut and uncut grass. Flip your blades the other way it will cut even better. Amazing machine definitely jealous. Cuts good because your spinning 10 times faster. Weld two blades together in an equal x and you could cut nice at probably 30kms per hour lol great job!

  • @brendansmith940
    @brendansmith940 6 лет назад +14

    The reason for the discharge being on the right rather than left is just to get rid of the clippings faster. The blades rotate clockwise and so when they cut the grass coming in from the front it discharges faster leaving a cleaner cut. Flipping the deck doesn’t make that big of a difference obviously, the clippings just stay in the deck a little longer until they get discharged

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  6 лет назад +4

      @@kitchosgarage That's funny, I built this as a mower for the challenge and to have a Race "Mower" and not a go kart. I don't plan on using it as a regular mower. Its much more fun just doing some drifting, towing and putting my bins out....

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  6 лет назад

    With the deck mounted backwards, how did you do the PTO? Are you using a v drive?

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  6 лет назад +3

      Its in an earlier video, I installed a heavy duty electric clutch to the input shaft on the rear gearbox and then belt drive under the mower to the deck. Similar to a standard mower except my pulley system changes angle so the belts are always perfectly aligned and I run chain drive from the engine to the gearbox before going belt drive to the deck
