I'm rather amazed how the damn crap the guys replying on your own comment are able to say such nonsense... xD Would like to see them in the shoes of the filmer, to see if their reaction to this while holding a camera wouldn't be the same!... Damn guys, THINK before saying what you're not sure you would do, plz!...
I was thinking the same thing when I heard her say it!!!um let's see there's a cruis ship going to crash into our berth!!! holy shit!! something you would hear and a lame ass B rated movie!! this was in my Hometown,I was actually waiting to pick up some tourist from this ship that day!!,so I watched it happened
Oh, come on, man. Show a little compassion. They SLAMMED into the dock (shaped like pylons). It was horrible. Thousands died. Millions the world over suffered. LOL.
holy smokes, the sounds it makes when it hits the dock actually sound like the ones you hear in movies, i always wondered if ships would make those kind of noises when they're in a collision
I Googled the ship's name, date, and keyword damage, and found the NTSB has a report online regarding the event. The report is numbered MAB1736 and refers to the event as an allision.
Captain's announcement: Ok folks, well, we just rolled up to Ketchican and made it our bitch. Thank you for cruising with Celebrity and enjoy your time in port. Please watch your step while disembarking.
lol. I consider myself lucky to get that reference. one of the funniest scenes to picture in my head. that was like a theme for me and my boss up working on the rigs.
He won't make that mistake on his next job! Should not sail in areas which have wind! Poor Infinity. We've sailed on her twice. She also goes near Antarctica and the wild weather around the bottom of South America once or twice a year. Alaska should be a piece of cake. We were on her going through the Panama Canal locks - so close one could reach out and touch the slimy side of the locks. Ship didn't have more than a foot on either side clearance. Took the 'mules' to keep her in line.
Black Purple Don't agree, the Captain is responsible, the buck stops with him/her even though he/she wasn't at the helm. Look at what happened to Schettino when his Costa Concordia sank and he was flirting with a woman and his staff was steering the ship.
Wow this brings back a lot of memories! My first cruise was on the Celebrity Infinity almost 10 years ago when I was 7 years old! The hit wasn't as big as I thought, but ouch that was a big scratch on the side. :P
We were on the Infinity just 3 months after the crash, in September, for the same cruise. They had painted over the scar but you could still see it. I don't think Dock 3 had been rebuilt yet when we were there.
In fairness, the winds were gusting to 45 mph. The port pilot was likely in control, not the usual captain & crew. Its clear they were blasting their bow thrusters to hold off the dock (see the water churn), but the wind overcame them.
5 mins prior to this: Celebrity Human Resource Department via telephone... "Sorry Captain, there will be no pay raises this year". Captain: "All ahead full".
Hi Mario, Im an senior executive producer over at "KEEMSTAR LETS GET INTO THE DANK NEWS" i wanted to know if (without your permission) we use this video in our "newscast". Thanks stay leafy!
+BCYK actually firstly 100,00 is in fact a real number. In Germany and other European countries they use the comma instead of the dot. Secondly it's clearly a joke, not meant to be taken seriously. Maybe think about the context of the situation.
I was bitching about the finger in the screen when I realized this person at least had the presence of mind to turn the stupid phone horizontally. Well done!
These ships are like giant sails. You can easily hear high winds. There was no tug boat at the back of the boat to counteract the force of the wind pushing the ship into the docks. You can see the bow thrusters on full. It's possible the wind came in unpredictably and surprised everyone.
Its not decency its legalities. News agencies have money and are easily tracked. The other thieves on RUclips are just individuals in Russia or something that cant be tracked.
The captain of the Celebrity Millenium (different ship)- gave us some info about this: there was an unexpected and sustained 45 knot (52 mph) gust of wind which threw a huge monkey-wrench into the docking procedure. Damage to ship: repaired within 24 hr. Damage to dock: repaired within 2 weeks. Image in your brain of topless lady in window: permanent.
I was on what was apparently the first ship to use the new dock built after this, we were on a Norwegian and the cruise director and other staff were making jokes about this celebrity ship and the dock.
Hi Maria, my name is Charles Westmoreland, I'm editor of the Juneau Empire and would like to include your video on our website. You will receive credit. May we?
A lot of people are saying that the dock is cheap, small, etc, blame the wind etc but it did cause 2-3 million dollars on the dock. The time to postpone for repairs AND repair to the ship itself is on the captain alone.. cruise crashes are the one thing that'll get you fired immediately...
We were on that cruise and we ended up going to the dining room because we were not allowed off for at least an hour till they made some checks to make sure everything was safe.
Check out the flag on the front of the ship. Blowing directly into the ship which means the entire side of the ship is a huge sail. You can see why the ship start going side ways. Captain had no chance when these type of conditions occur.
Pilot was running the show. Needed tug assistance against the wind. Boat sustained about $200,000 damage, dock about the same too. Nasty. Hope he didn't lose his job.
We are known for high winds. I was at home making lunch real quick...my friend text me and told me what happened. He said the ship hit the dock...I thought it was a figure of speech...and I just said I'll be down in 15 minutes... he texted again by telling me it literally HIT Berth 3....I get to the dock and see lots of people taking pictures of the side of the ship. The ship stayed in late and come morning they were gone. Just glad no one was hurt.
My guess is they knew it was going to be a tough docking, but chose to try anyway. If that's the case, props to them for putting the interests of the passengers above causing minor damage to the boat.
I was stationed in the Coast Guard in Ketchikan back in 1969, one day in October, a small front came in at 0900 and started dumping liquid sunshine! It was Pigs and Chickens for six hours and at 1500 or 3:00 P.M. the sun came out! Lucky for Ketchikan, no cruise ships were polluting the tranquility of that little fishing village for another three years or so.In those six hours only 13 inches of the stuff fell! At the end of that month only 68 inches of Pigs and Chickens fell, and at the year's end Dec. 31st...Only 197 inches total! Now tell me why that large metal Wind catching Sail blew into the dock? Well when a nice strong Westerner comes blowing up the Japanese Current, a 60-80 mph gale can whip up a pretty good maelstrom! Thusly...big long ships with bow and stern thrusters find out how really useless they actually are! That captain was lucky his cruise ship didn't end up 75 feet up the hillside!
Captain should have never attempted to dock with those nasty windy conditions. He took a gamble and lost !! Makes no sense at all. Been in several cruises where port stops have been cancelled due to nasty weather. Listening to the sound of the wind on the video, I would say that they took a gamble and lost.
Hi Maria, I am putting together an educational course for tugboaters and would like to use your video as part of my class materials. May I use it if I cite credit to you? Thank you for considering this.
I'm just amazed this video isn't shot vertically!! Thank you mystery filmer!
On the other hand we have fingers on camera! Aaaaaarrrrggghhh!!!
Thank you mystery finger
No thanx to them, for all this jumpy moving shaking video.
And having writ......
I'm rather amazed how the damn crap the guys replying on your own comment are able to say such nonsense... xD

She is a female you have to explain it to them, how old are you, are you still at school.
I bet you kiss girls. Ewww
Sounds like a "famous last sentence".
Fucken hell. The constant fingers in front of the camera.
I know. She should have just put them back up her pussy.
+maxie bear unnecessary
+mm1996 her fingers would have been kept warm, it would have felt good and no fingers on the lens. Win win win.
+maxie bear and do you keep yours in your fat rolls?
I'm thinking of the same thing I'm thinking move your fucking hand

Too bad you didn't either .... Go to school. Thank you.
That may be the slowest crash i've ever seen.
So fucken boring. I was jerking my thick dick in excitement and i didnt even cum.
think you missed
Oh, come on, man. Show a little compassion. They SLAMMED into the dock (shaped like pylons). It was horrible. Thousands died. Millions the world over suffered. LOL.
mrmuttley
It may be slow but talking about the weight if that thing slamming into that wall. Damage is real man
Slowest but highest momentum
holy smokes, the sounds it makes when it hits the dock actually sound like the ones you hear in movies, i always wondered if ships would make those kind of noises when they're in a collision
Yes they do.
Sounds like a shopping cart collision.
Yes, they do those sounds. Sound engineers see real videos after making special effects.
91,000 tons meets puny aluminum dock.
+damen whelan XD
+damen whelan true
Galvanized steel nok aluminium. Still puny though.
Puts on Irish accent. This is a lighthouse mate, it's your call.
Deevo037
Hms Invincible and her support fleet went 15degrees south that day.
Glad she filmed horizontal, but those fingers though.
I'll give it a 7.8/10, too much water.
Maybe to block some of the wind?
You win some, you lose some. *shrug*
stfu with that horizontal filming fetish.
As long he recorded horizontally he is good to go
my heart will go on
taltigolt, here?
It'll buff out...
SUB. DELINQUENT Just need some paint
The funny thing is, it was. They needed to rebuild the whole pier pretty much from scratch, but the boat only had some paint scratches.
10/10 parking - ign
Seems ligit.
Meh more like9/10 to much water
More like 7/10 . . Graphics were glitching from time to time and the water physics wasn't realistic. Also the story kind of sucked, too mainstream.
+ZxD yeah the story sucked
Parking is hard.
I Googled the ship's name, date, and keyword damage, and found the NTSB has a report online regarding the event. The report is numbered MAB1736 and refers to the event as an allision.
Geez, damage estimates on the report amount to over $1.15 million.

Captain's announcement:
Ok folks, well, we just rolled up to Ketchican and made it our bitch. Thank you for cruising with Celebrity and enjoy your time in port. Please watch your step while disembarking.
Well, the Celebrity of this ship is now Infinite.
Thank you! Thank you! What a terrific audience!
Two minutes of god awful wind noise. Thanks!
20%
Wind is what caused this.
Of course you would have blocked out the wind sound. As if!
It was windy you moron
I've been to that dock, beautiful area! Looks like the wind was whipping up pretty good and pushed it in.
That'll buff right out.
bit of wd40
lol. I consider myself lucky to get that reference. one of the funniest scenes to picture in my head. that was like a theme for me and my boss up working on the rigs.
move your dam finger
Looks to be the thrusters could not overcome the wind. Stiff wind and a lot of sail area.
tide might have been playing a role to.
Someone is getting fired...
That would be the Captain if I was in charge.
Ikr
He won't make that mistake on his next job!

Not necessarily if he wasn't in command at the moment ;)
I'd fire the people who made that shitty pier lol

"Why are all those people running?" - Famous last words.
Because they aren‘t filming 🙄
Thank you for filming in landscape orientation!
Is the captain Italian?
If he is I hope his last ship wasn't the Concordia.
schettino isnt italian... is neapolitan.

most of celebritys captain are from greece I know because I have worked on that company

I Used To Live There.. I Remember That! It Took Like A Year To Fix it!
There were 45 mph winds blowing the ship directly at the dock when this happened. The ship was quickly repaired and resumed its cruise.
This is the captain speaking, disregard the noise you just felt, and you may need to swim to shore, that is all.
Hi Mario, Im an senior executive producer over at "KEEMSTAR LETS GET INTO THE DANK NEWS" i wanted to know if (without your permission) we use this video in our "newscast". Thanks stay leafy!
This guy wants to give you $100 and make $100,00. dont fall for it... DO NOT GIVE HIM PERMISSION
100,00 isnt a real number. stop trying to scam people
+BCYK actually firstly 100,00 is in fact a real number. In Germany and other European countries they use the comma instead of the dot. Secondly it's clearly a joke, not meant to be taken seriously. Maybe think about the context of the situation.

Nice footage! Epic.
The sound of broking metal is awesome - like in films!!))

That'll buff right out... You know, in this day and age, there is _no_ reason to have a finger over the lens.
We were at that very spot the day before this was filmed (without incident); but, the docking doesn't always go smoothly!
"Was that an iceberg captain?" "no sir, it was the dock"
We went on a cruise to Alaska on this very ship in 2011! Luckily, the ship did not slam into any docks while we were on board!
All I want to say is, thanks for holding the cell phone horizontally and not vertical. oh and that sucks for that boat.
Welcome to Ketchikan, Capt. Hazelwood!
wow, amazing that you got such a great vid ... scary though xo
i remember living there, calm and crazy place tbh..
i moved a year later, and it wasnt even fixed by the time i moved
crazy stuff
I was on this
Make sure you have an adsense account set up to make money from this video. Seriously. You'll thank me later.
Fantastic!
To Infinity and beyo... Oh shit!
4 years ago you said something I find amusing today. Pat yourself on the back, you've peaked.
@@Ruthless9o7 Thanks, I don't even remember writing that.
I was surprised this did not happen today in Juneau as well, the winds were pretty bad.
"Like a glove!"

I'm pretty sure spongebob was just taking a boating lesson
Lol, at least all these news people have the common decency to ask. Most just steal the footage.
Its not decency its legalities. News agencies have money and are easily tracked. The other thieves on RUclips are just individuals in Russia or something that cant be tracked.
OMG i was on this cruise ship a year before this happened : (
I live here in Ketchikan I can't believe that happened
People in ship: oh fuck this is fucking titanic
The captain of the Celebrity Millenium (different ship)- gave us some info about this: there was an unexpected and sustained 45 knot (52 mph) gust of wind which threw a huge monkey-wrench into the docking procedure.
Damage to ship: repaired within 24 hr. Damage to dock: repaired within 2 weeks. Image in your brain of topless lady in window: permanent.
2:10 topless women in window. That sure woke everyone up.

Welcome to Walmart here's your shopping cart, have a nice day. -Former Cruise Ship Captain
The dock was repaired in 30 days. It was just the start of cruise ship season.
Hey Pocahontas 😀 see you tomorrow 😀
Did you disengage the external inertial dampeners?
Perfect 👌👌👌👌👌
I was on what was apparently the first ship to use the new dock built after this, we were on a Norwegian and the cruise director and other staff were making jokes about this celebrity ship and the dock.
Hi Maria, my name is Charles Westmoreland, I'm editor of the Juneau Empire and would like to include your video on our website. You will receive credit. May we?
No you may not, thank you and goodbye Charles.

All of Reddit.
A lot of people are saying that the dock is cheap, small, etc, blame the wind etc but it did cause 2-3 million dollars on the dock.

1:39 is when it happens, you're welcome ;)
Also, anyone else reminded of Jurassic Park, Lost World, when the ship crashes into the docks?
thx
Check out the flag on the front of the ship. Blowing directly into the ship which means the entire side of the ship is a huge sail. You can see why the ship start going side ways. Captain had no chance when these type of conditions occur.
I was at Ketchikan the day that happened I was on the Norweigon pearl my ship was leaving dock when this happened
You don't need an alibi, we know it wasn't you
Pilot was running the show. Needed tug assistance against the wind.
Boat sustained about $200,000 damage, dock about the same too. Nasty.
Hope he didn't lose his job.
I went on this ship shortly after the collision and they still haven't sorted out the scratch, quite a shock when coming on to it for the first time,
flawless docking
We are known for high winds. I was at home making lunch real quick...my friend text me and told me what happened. That’s beautiful!
I was on that ship and you can still see the marks from when it hit the dock.
damn. that must be one of the new docks.
Think the captain is getting fired?
Nah just getting molested
maxie bear By the subway sandwich guy?
Doubt it, that dock looked faulty
these giant cruise ships are at the limit of seaworthyness. its a wonder there aren't more accidents.
The pilot would be in trouble, not the captain. Marine pilots are required on cruise ships maneuvering in Southeast Alaska ports.
"I'm a doctor!! Not a captain!!"..."And you want me to park this beast?!!!!"
In the words of John Candy "the radio still works - clear as a bell "
My guess is they knew it was going to be a tough docking, but chose to try anyway. If that's the case, props to them for putting the interests of the passengers above causing minor damage to the boat.
Minor damage? They are already talking millions of dollars in damage to both the ship and the dock.
I helped build that dock in 2006-7. Pile-Drivers and Divers Local 2520 Anchorage.
Oops! I hope it wasn't the captain when we were on this one last November!
I was stationed in the Coast Guard in Ketchikan back in 1969, one day in October, a small front came in at 0900 and started dumping liquid sunshine! I don't see any fingers in the frame could someone tell me what everyone was talking about?
The deep croaking sound at 1:56 are the bulkheads of the ship bending.
I bet Elon Musk could have added some gadgets to this ship to prevent situations like these.
CGI wouldn't have hejped
I bet he couldn't
fuck me, record the damage for god sake.
You wish! and thats all the damage there was.
drama queen ! our BC ferrys dock like that all the time .
lol!
Yeah it's just a scratch LOL!
+Jaime M haha
Hmmm trying to remember if it was windy this day or just a dumb Captain lol 😂
To Infinity and beyond =)
I remember that happening because i live at ketchikan i was at Safeway that time
"why are those people running?", 2 seconds later - gets fucked up
Captain should have never attempted to dock with those nasty windy conditions. He took a gamble and lost !! Makes no sense at all. Been in several cruises where port stops have been cancelled due to nasty weather. Listening to the sound of the wind on the video, I would say that they took a gamble and lost.
Was just there the week before!!!! Someone has some answering to do!
iv been on the celebrity infinity during 2013!!!!!!!
It will take a whole year to fix this. lol
Is that really a topless woman at 2:10 looking out a porthole window? LOL
nailed it
Yup
Only a man would spot that🙄😆
She was probably at it with her boyfriend and suddenly heard a BANG while she was getting banged.
Hi Maria, I am putting together an educational course for tugboaters and would like to use your video as part of my class materials. May I use it if I cite credit to you? Thank you for considering this.
Yes, of course, thanks for reaching out and asking.
Thank you!
what's with the fingers blocking the camera view?
Captain - I think we can buff that out.
