Ingredients
1 ½ cups (225 g) all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp (25 g) granulated sugar
1 Tbsp (9 g) baking powder
½ tsp (2.5 g) fine salt
1 ¼ cups (310 mL) buttermilk
½ cup (125 mL) vegetable oil
2 large eggs, separated
1 cup (175 g) chocolate chips (optional)
Maple syrup and fresh berries, for serving
Directions
1. For the waffles, stir the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together. In a separate bowl, whisk the buttermilk, oil and egg yolks together. Add this to the dry mixture and stir gently until blended (but, like pancake batter, a few lumps are OK).
2. In another bowl, whisk the 2 egg whites (by hand or with electric beaters) until they hold a soft peak when the whisk or beaters are lifted. Fold these gently into the batter. Stir in the chocolate chips, if using.
3. Preheat your waffle iron according to instructions. Lightly grease the iron (if requested in the instructions) and ladle batter to fill the iron once closed (the first waffle is your test as to how much batter to use). Cook the waffle until lightly browned at crisp, and remove. Repeat with the remaining batter. You can make the waffles ahead of time and re-warm (oven, grill or toaster - not the microwave), since they are best served warm. Served drizzled with maple syrup and topped with fresh berries.

This is the only person that was able to tell be the difference of the two batters. I’m am forever grateful
I love how she has all her ingredients in her drawers
I didn't see her pull out anything out of her underwear
@@Lord_Drip excuse me?
@@FredrickTheDog American's called underwear drawers.
@@GameChanger-xi4iy but he didn't say anything about underwear
Same here..
I've said it many times. She is the best cook on RUclips! Period! Her recipes are truly amazing. And she is extremely underrated!
That "drizzle" of maple syrup was more like flooding 😂
Drenching as well
Gave me "two shots of vodka" vibes
@ DazeSen, when I saw it I burst into a laughter !
That’s the only way to eat waffles 👀
Thank you - made these this morning and worked beautifully - 4 minutes on our little electric double-iron. Used 2 bowls, one whisk - just after the whites were fluffy mixed the ingredients and folded the whites in and they kept their fluffiness all the way to the end of the batch.
Best waffles ever. My family loves it. Taste even better when frozen and reheated. Thank you so much for this easy and yummy recipe.
U sure?

Did you make them in a belgian waffle machine like hers or did you make thrm in a regular one
I made these waffles over this past weekend. Best recipe I’ve made in years. Fluffy, tasty, light and everyone loved them.
😂
I've tried this today and it's yummy. So crisp on the outside, super soft and fluffy on the inside. The taste is so good. Thanks, Anna Olson
Omg! Great recipe!
I added about 3 tsps of ground flax seeds and same amount of hemp seeds. I didn't have buttermilk so I used 1 cup of coconut milk and about 3 tsps of greek yogurt. I used about 1/3c melted butter instead of the 1/2c of oil and wow. My boyfriend thought they were the best Waffles ever! He ate two full waffles with two eggs and a sausage! They tasted amazing!
I have the Waring Pro Double Waffle Maker. Makes thick waffles with deep pockets. Excellent waffle maker! Easy to use. I've had it for years. It was one of the best Christmas presents I've ever received. 😊💕
I tried this recipe this morning. I added lemon zest and the waffles came out awesome! Fresh whipped cream and Amerena cherries were my topping of choice.
Thank you for the awesome recipe me and my son made it, it's the best waffle recipe I've made so far.
you have a future chef on your hands!

Hi
I always use this recipe to make waffle for my family. Love love love! It’s delicious every time! Thanks Anna!
No need for adding so much oil and sugar. Just add a really ripe banana, made with oatmeal it's such healthier.
I trust her recipes, and was not mislead this time either! Beautiful, fluffy, light waffles they turned out to be.
I topped them with home-made chocolate sauce and lightly whipped cream. Yum indeed.
Gread video! I love how she has alot of the ingredients in her drawer. 😍
Just made waffles today using this recipe. They were delicious....crispy and flavorful. I doubled all ingredients (except sugar) and had enough for 8-9 total waffles that were about 6" diameter. This will be my go to recipe from now on
Tried it yesterday , awesome recipe , kids and hubby like it so much , so crispy outside , so fluffy inside
Just tried this recipe, it's amazing! Very light and fluffy!
I just made these beautiful cloudy waffles and it was a big hit at the dining table. My family loooooooved it . My go to waffles .
Just tried the recipe at home - they came out perfect and sooo delicious 😍
This is my very belated )) thank you response. I found this recipe back in March at the beginning of lockdown while searching for some new ideas to cook at home. Ones upon a time I've tried to make waffles, and bought the waffle iron. I did not find any recipe I liked back then, and the iron has been collecting the dust inside my kitchen cabinet for about good ten years, or so ))). Because of your recipe the iron stays on the countertop permanently now. It's truly the best recipe! So easy and fast, and absolutely the best. I store the rest of freshly baked waffles into freezer, then defrost them in toaster, and they are still amazing. Thank you so much Anna!
It looks fluffy in the video but are yours crispy on the outside?
I try this recipe today and surprisingly it turns out awesome. So light and crispy! Thank you Anna! My kids love it so much!
I love your recipes. You are direct and to the point in your method and also while you talk. I really love that. There are many others who keep on talking and talking and talking to a point where I just stop watching the video becoz they werent to the point. Thank you.
I made this this morning. It tasted great!!I used homemade yogurt instead of buttermilk. Thanks!!
I made them this morning and both of my kids said “these are the best waffles you’ve ever made !”. Thanks for sharing this recipe
Forgot to mention that I added finely chopped pecans to batter
Love this video! Thorough, professional and to the point!
I just made them. They were delicious. I didn’t add any sugar and ate with melted chocolate, caramel and banana. Thank you for recipe👍🏻
These waffles were really fluffy and crispy! I substitute the buttermilk with non-dairy buttermilk and works well too!
No fail recipe! Nice light and fluffy waffles - thank you for the perfect recipe xx
Oh Chef Anna if only you know how much you give me inspiration, thank you.
Thank you for these instructions! I Love the outcome! This will be the only way I make my waffle batter from now on.
It’s my first time making waffles and use your recipe. They came out great!!! Thank you very much!!!!!
Making them right now! They look yummy. My family keeps coming to the kitchen to ask when they’ll be ready lol. I used European butter instead of oil because I didn’t have any in stock. The butter clumped up once in the buttermilk mixture.
I then read online to mix the eggs & buttermilk first and it won’t clump.
Thank you!!
These were the best waffles I've tasted. Thank you so much for this recipe ! 🧡 It's so simple and easy to make.
Made this this morning. Thank you it was delicious! It will replace the existing waffle recipe I had.
such a easy and quick recipe. great work👌
Thank you for this amazing recipe.
I made these in the morning and it came out just perfect, crispy outside while fluffy inside.
I baked them in a waffle silicone mold, low rack ,180 °C preheated oven,I flipped them after 12 min. in the same mold for another 10 min. to the desired point of crispness and colour.
Dear Anna, today we had your waffles for breakfast! They are sooo yummy!!! I had mine with blueberries, syrup and confectioners sugar. My grandson decided on blueberries, syrup and all kinds of sprinkles! He (3 yrs) also insisted watching your video again, while eating his waffles! So cute!! He said that is Anna, ... all in love!

I made this recipe and it turned out great, thank you.
What an amazing recipe! It came out great!
I really love all her recipes!!! I also like her drawers!!!!!
I love Anna Olson she is the best!! Her recipes don’t lie.
This was so good, the only tweak I made was adding more buttermilk (I didn’t have any so I mixed 2 cups of milk with 2 TBSP of lemon)
I added as much as she did but the batter would pour through the spout (I have a vertical waffle maker) so I kept adding more buttermilk till it got nice and flowy!
This waffle recipe was so so good and I’d recommend it to everyone!
Thankyou Anna!
Made these today, easily the best waffles I’ve ever made.
whipping the egg whites is a method of making many prepared batters light and smooth textured. Great pancakes.
Omg Anna!!I love your recipes so much!!! You need more subs
Now THIS is the waffle recipe I've been looking for. The separating the egg technique is the magic trick. And I was using too much flour in my batter. I can't wait to make another batch.
Idiotic and useless
Awesome! I will definitely try this and post how they come out.
The best recipe ever..I tried many recipes this one is ultimately tasty and crunchy ..thank you for the incredible recipe 😃

Thanks for the recipe best receipe I ever tried!
I make this recipe all the time, they turn out perfect Everytime. If you are worried about left over batter is suggest just making the entire batch, storing the left over waffles in the fridge or freezer and toast them in a toaster oven for quick breakfast . They crisp up nicely and taste even better reheated.
That's a great tip!
