I am so happy you harp on the fact that it really is about how there are options as everyone is a little different. You did a great job demonstrating how it will twist when strap is routed under to the outer side, yet your preferred QD point on the buffer tube is routed under. I get the front QD will counter the twist, but never the less it will want to twist. I am exploring my own preferred strapping, and really appreciate this video. Your perspective is very helpful. I think for my buffer tube QD point I am going to try an mount it on the inner side of the tube, instead of on the bottom to avoid any twist. Thanks MagicPrepper for the great video!! Thank you Midway!! 77' was a great year!!
Good stuff. Now thats how you do a real prepper channel, helping others avoid mistakes. Something I see a lot is people not having "kill flashes" on their scopes and no covers on their weapon lights. I use tight netting on the end of my scopes, held on by the scope cover to help eliminate flash do to sun light etc. The netting does not show under magnification. I also use scope covers on my weapon lights to eliminate the flash by sun or other light source, and in case of negligent light discharge especially if I have a pressure switch. 100 concepts make good light covers also. Thanks MP
First, great content. Second, Magic Prepper is great. Third, I shop midwayusa a lot, in part because I appreciate the support they give this guy. Came here to comment to let midwayusa know
The reason you are having height issues with optics is the depth of the buttstock on your shoulder. With an AR platform only the lower 1/3 of the stock should be in your shoulder when you mount.
Try 45 degree offset open sights, so you can mount a scope as well. Just tilt the gun for back up sights or close range, and scope for distance and hunting.
Nowadays in California, we pretty much have to chicken-wing our ARs. ARs in California either have the fin grips, or they have the featureless, angled grips--similar to the M1A's.
Could you include the attachment of a uni or bipod that doubles as a front hand grip? There are several different configurations and designs. Might be good to demonstrate and position for maximum comfort and control of the AR platform in general.
Like the vid. But this is based on thr assumption that you have a more vertical pistol grip to begin with and a handguard/ buttstock that accepts multiple points of QD attachments. (Which you did mention). Take a m16a1/2 and see how ergonomic itll be .😂 I have 2 with a1 stocks. Both run bfg sling adapters in the rear and 1 has bcm quad rail and the other has a MI quad rail. You need parts in order to accomplish this (atleast slings and chicken winging😂)
Chicken wing. That was taught in USMC basic marksmanship course with the M-16 in 1975. I always shot Expert using that technique. However now that I have acquired AR weapons in recent years I've seen the value of this elbow down technique. I'm left handed and there seems to no real comfortable way to carry the AR for Lefties. Does the folding attachment have such a thing as a left handed version?
Great content, as always, just my personal thoughts on front sights configuration for flow and ease of movement having everything flipping back allows for high speed movement and also in close quarters the ability to use as a pulling tool when pulled back on a basic general level for your average person, it may not matter But just to cover all bases I think flipping forward and not back should be the norm.🤠
Biggest mistake is see is flagging people, which is unintentionally pointing your gun at people. Just keep the muzzle pointed at the ground. The second biggest mistake I see is not having a sling. It's crazy how many beginners don't understand why a sling is so important. Finally, some people grab too far forward or too far back with their support hand.
#1 Common AR-15 Owner Mistake - Buying a Direct Impingement AR-15. Piston AR-15's are better and Patriot Ordnance Factory P-415 is the best piston AR-15.
These are actually good tips. Especially the sling set up for newbies.
Wow, 3 minutes in and you pointed out a mistake I made. Thank you !
Thanks Midway for supporting Magic Prepper.
I really appreciate the 2-point sling information. Very helpful practical explanations of the benefits/disadvantages of various configurations.
Excellent points... thank you!
Very helpful, also enjoyed, thanks

Good video with good points. Good job Magic.
Excellent video MP, very helpful. Keeping it to my playlist for reference.
Any 2 point sling; including paracord and duct tape value combo. Still Beats a 3 point sling

Yup, you sure don't want the North Koreans or pissed off Harris supporters seeing you.

Great video for sending to friends and family
Got me on rear back up sight n chicken winging Bud! Thanks.
VERY HELPFUL!!! Thank you so much!

What flip up sights are those? They lay nice and flat.
Magpul Mloc flip ups
@@kirrasdad The Steel ones are outstanding. I especially like the new front sight that doesn’t require tools to set elevation.

Very good.

Kingpin and freedom fighter. No need for either of what you listed

The only thing I am guilty of is the chicken wing with the AR I knew about everything else.
As a taller guy I just stopped running 2 point slings on my ARs all together. Single point FTW :)
So you like your rifle flopping around and potentially smacking you in the balls huh? Lol

My father taught me to shoot with the sling around my elbow, I feel like that’s outdated, am I correct? His service was 66-68 USMC Fox co 2/9
There's a tribble on your collar😊
The 6th common mistake for new AR15 owners is taking advice from a guy with frosted tips that looks like the 6th member of NSYNC
If you are used to chicken wing most tend to be twisted with the rifle crossing the chest and not standing like the target.
I saw Tacticon was selling irons and advertising them backwards, those scammers are goofballs

What handguard is that?
The rear sight mounted backwards kills me . That is a snag point and could break with the right pressure.
I never make a mistake with my ARs.
Come on Midway! The front sight cannot be turned either way. The elevation adjustment will not be correct if it's turned backwards.
Are you serious? The threads on the post are still moving the post the same direction when it’s rotated 😂
No single point sling tips?
Perpendicular to the earth would be your arm down creating a 90 degree angle I think you meant parallel to the earth is chicken winging 🤓
Wilson Combat upper 🤔
Good viedo but you missed the single point Configuration.
Nobody does that anymore, unless you like getting racked in the nuts during transition drills 😅
My upper and lower isn’t produced anymore 😢
Adams?
@ DPMS MOE Warrior
I do chicken wing
"Your handguard is a separate entity from your receiver" Unless you have a monolithic upper like an LMT or a PSA JAKL

Chicken winging is parallel to the earth not perpendicular.
With 100% Respect you could be skunk head on The Hatfield's and MCcoy's 😂😂😂. Thanks Mike for the video
you're bouncing around like you had to much caffeine.
I was going to say ADHD but your way was nicer.
Chicken wing is to be used when you are in the dirt prone trying to shoot a rifle.
Mount your sling. Transition to your left shoulder without adjusting your sling. Could you? No? Change your sling mounting locations. Repeat.
It's 100% cloudy-why are you wearing sunglasses, dude?
Hahaha
High
It’s actually 100% overcast, doofus.
The sun is shining clearly through.
You must work indoors.
I see blue sky. Besides, sunglasses, even on cloudy days increases contrast.
That's an SBR lower? Common AR mistake... putting a 12.5" upper on a rifle lower
Crap. I chicken wing.
Me too. Hard to break that habit.
Look up the word “perpendicular”
Using big words too sounds smarter on the Internet.

Wondering why I was unsubscribed to your channel???? I didn’t know or do this. I’m also not a member. What happened??? Are you mad at me MP???
He's big mad, he told me.
This is the midway channel
@RealG.Washington Big Foot saw it all, but still doesn't believe it. 😂
First mistake: Not using an AK instead.

Impressive. These two are retarded
What's wrong with an AR? Were you born prior to 1964?
Are you a Fudd
If it works for the person. Big deal. If they ask for help. Offer. It will be received much better.
