My gopro shuts off if I plug it in to my computer. Is it broken? Even if its off and then I turn it on after the gopro is plugged in it still shuts off

For the GoPro Hero 9, be sure that you set your usb connections (on the gopro swipe down from the top, then swipe left, then tap connections>USB Connection) to MTP. Mine was set up as GoPro Connect, which lets you use it as a webcam, but it won't let you upload photos.

For those that connect their camera and doesn't appear on the computer just find preferences on the camera then connections and usb connection then change it to MTP.

"Hello, . If you have recently made an update on the camera firmware to v2.0, make sure that your camera is in MTP mode. To do this, go to Preferences, then Connections, then MTP. This should allow the transfer of media from the camera to your computer."

One critical part that World of Tech did not explain was to put the Go Pro into MTP mode.
1. Turn on your Go Pro
2. Swipe down on screen
3. Tap on PREFERENCES
4. Tap on CONNECTIONS
5. Scroll and find USB CONNECTIONS
6. Tap and choose option MTP
7. Connect Go Pro to computer
8. Go Pro should say USB CONNECTION on screen
9. Done
Go Pro Connect is to get files from Go Pro to your phone using the App. MTP allows you to connect to the computer to drag and drop files.

Another thing to note, You can’t drag and drop directly into editing software. Have to download onto computer first, then import to the software. That’s another thing I was stumped on for a while

In the second way i put the charger in my computer, just as you did, but it wouldnt pop up with a gopro 8 sign on my computer?

@@sanderkofod5301 actually there is an answer in comments below, all u need to do is switch USB connetion Mode in camera settings to mtp, default setting is set on gopro, there are also vids on yt how to do it I make it yesterday in like 5 seconds

when you connect with USB cable go to preference (swipe top to bottom like in a phone) => connections => wireless connections => off. (and maybe change "USB Connection" to "MTP")

i dont see any my pc section on my apple. i go to the finder and it has, favorites, locations, and tags. none have my pc or gopro hero 8 in them
Not working for me. Does the camera have to be in a particular mode for making it visible to Windows 10? When I plug the camera in, the camera display says USB connected, but Windows 10 is no wiser for the connection. Nothing indicates that I've plugged in a new device. Do I need to install a driver first?

A very important note with the cable!!!! You must change it to MTP on the go pro. I don't think this was mentioned. I know it sounds like common sense but for a person that uses GoProConnect via WiFi all the time, this can be missed

Still having trouble , idk if its my pc . Even though i change the preferences to mtp and plug in my gopro to the pc , it does not make the noise nor uploads any of my photos or vids. All it does is charge my device

I have a hero 9 black and when I hook it up to my pc it recognizes the camera but wont play back any of the videos ...running windows 10 and I get an error message....any idea why this is happening any info will be greatly appreciated thanks

@@iissaacc71 oh and theres a video on RUclips on how to use Handbrake . The guy is legit and runs u through the basics. It's just drag and drop the video u want to compress and edit ...its actually really easy ..good luck

*ACTUAL FIX* Go ON your Go Pro --- gopro settings > Connection > USB = MTP (Media Transfer Protocol)

If I use iMovie on my phone, can I backup videos on my pc, put back on GoPro sd and transfer to my phone to edit with iPhone?
My Gopro 9 was not being seen by the computer because it was on "gopro connect" ...what is that? so i change it to MTP and was able to transfer files to the computer by quik or anything else. Why Gopro always has to complicate things or change a software that was running perfectly and destroy it 🙄🤬
