Your videos are some of the finest out there, but I don't see what makes this a "masterclass" when the 'Five' was being given huge assistance (as one would expect up, for example, Shap on a busy railway). Keep up the great work.

Another great video Steve, especially climbing Shap. I was heading for Shap but when I got to the summit the visibility was awfull so I turned around and headed closer to home where it stayed dry. For the return leg I was going to Langwathby but the mist and rain arrived so I headed north to Armathwaite Station.
Thanks Alistair, funny you should mention that you turned around as I mentioned to Nige that you might once you spotted the conditions . We got lucky in the end as the rain/fog lifted 👍

We used to see that loco at Roose (near Barrow, and it was invariably filthy. Got sick of it, so we all started yelling "scrap it!" as it waent past. I guess it had the last laugh . . . . :) Kinda glad about that.

Good point Ian as you rightly point out the diesel was pushing. Basically it was a title rather than anything else 🤷

No, it was needed to supply electrical power to the train. Plus asking a Class 5 to take 11 over Shap unassisted would have been a bit of an ask
