Spot on Steve, a cracking sound from the Black 5 throughout the day and accompanied with lovely sunshine, a few jitters there at Kirkby Stephen with the chap miss footing, cheers 👍
Another great video Steve, I ended up at the bottom of Shap at Greenholm where we lost the sun just before the train arrived and at Lamgwathby for the return leg.
Another lovely video Stephen well done great camera work as usual I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on RUclips bye for now Philip
It would obviously have had some assistance, it woukd never have got over Shap that fast with that load if it hadn't, but it was sure making a good noise. No one could say the diesel was doing all the work 🤠
Lovely video clips Steve, good you got some good light on Shap .With a Class 57 it's different to tell how hard it's working Feel fortunate to have had 45305 on an unassisted 12 coach train over there August 2011 and the same month same loco with a storming climb with 10 coaches I think it was 34 mph over the summit .
Well the Five is eighty-nine years old, a general purpose mixed traffic locomotive, not a Class 8 top-link Pacific and certainly not a brand new A1 from 2008. The 47 at the rear whilst providing some assisstance wil also be powering the nine air conditioned coaches in that formation.
Oh what tosh. You call that noise "being pushed by a diesel"? That's just insulting to the footplate crew. A Class 5 on 12 coaches, what on earth do you expect?
Super shooting Steve both in Shap cutting and Kirky Stephen, very enjoyable thanks Brian

Thanks Nige , certainly a great sound from the five and like you say the weather was on our side 👍👍
Monster vid to boot. Wonderful watch, well done you.
What a superb locomotive the 5’s were. 12 coaches and a 47 behind it and it’s going like hell!
Some great action Steve, well captured (as always) on a lovely day and the 5 in full voice. A very enjoyable watch, David👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it David, can’t go wrong with a black five .
Great chase, thanks Steve. Wonderful sights and sounds. 👍👍👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it Robert , always a pleasure seeing a black five 👍
@TheStephengthompson Definitely, even for a GW fan, lol 🤣 👍👍
Excellent video Steve. Nice performance by the Black 5. Nice sounds. Great lighting with the autumn sunshine. Kind regards C&A
Thanks C&A, pretty lucky with the sun especially at Waitby 👍
Excellent footage there Steve of 45212 on the Northern Belle. She sounded superb, You can't go wrong with a Black Five
Thanks Andrew , totally agree with you about a black five 👍🎥
Great video of both the Black5 & 57 working hard, which they did all day. Superb effort from the 5's footplate crew. JG.
Glad you enjoyed it JG , certainly a fantastic show from engine and crew 👍👍
Super filming of the black five. Excellent video!
Cheers Allan, always a pleasure seeing a black five 👍🎥
Excellent work Stephen. A joy to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it Graeme 👍
Another great video Steve, I ended up at the bottom of Shap at Greenholm where we lost the sun just before the train arrived and at Lamgwathby for the return leg.
Thanks Alistair, must admit I was lucky with the sun for once 👍
Excellent videoing steve great day for it 5 working really hard the old boy nearly fell off platform at kirkbystephen station 😅
Cheers Graham, it was certainly a great day weather wise plus the sun played ball 👍Was a bit worried the old chap was going down 😟
Wish I’d seen this for sure, excellent work Stephen 👍
Thanks for the very kind words as they’re much appreciated 👍
Excellent, the sound of the Black Five reminds me of a Peter Handford recording in the 60's on the "Argo" label. Superb.
Thanks Stuart , it was certainly a pleasure to see and hear 45212 👍
cheers steve, you got some great footage in both the morning and afternoon
Glad you enjoyed it Angus, can’t go wrong with a five .
Spot on Steve and in fine voice with hardly any assistance by sound of it. Thought the old man was going fall in front of you at KS.😂👍
Thanks David, must admit I thought the five was certainly doing most of the work. Did think the chap was going to hit the deck 😟
Great video
Another lovely video Stephen well done great camera work as usual I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on RUclips bye for now Philip
Glad you enjoyed it Philip 👍
Nice video Steve :)
Thanks for sharing this with us. Is there any Black 5 in LMS livery? She did sound good.
5428 on the NYMR and 5025 at Aviemore, but they're not main line ticketed
45212 is on the peaks express trip tomorrow
Cheers Jamie 👍
Fine set of shots there Steve. Despite the assistance theres no keeping a Black Five quiet😂
Thanks Austin, certainly heard the approach as she sounded great 👍

Correction: yes, someone can! 🙄
Thanks Andrei , must admit it was travelling faster than it should’ve been hence the diesel had been assisting.

@@edmundbrain456Thanks Edmund, I remember the run back in 2011 with 12 on the hook as I was at the summit for 45305 👍👍🎥
.Nice video. Like me.
Well the Five sounds nice, but it's a shame that its basically being pushed by the diesel. Gone are the glory days of the Blue Ribbon!

Cheers Leuan , we won’t see days like those again I’d say .
