I know this video has been up for awhile but it's good. I'm 61 yes old and have extended racing experience out west. Won many races. I decided to get back into riding and bought a Honda 450 RX. It was to much for single track. So I did what you did got a 24' KTM 250 XC-W. It is the BEST bike I have ever owned. Nice choice!
I got a 22 ktm 250xc an love it!! Just hit 50 hours an 0 issues ! Just dialed in suspension put som protective parts set sag ! Bikes been great so far !
Enjoyed your video! You said a lot of the right things to get me to decide on this bike. I'm just getting back into riding and want to get my kids into it as well. This seems like a great bike for them to have fun on. I need three of them, which is a bit of a challenge.
I know what you mean with riding the big 4 strokes in the woods. I made a huge mistake in 2000 when I bought a new yz426. Heavy weight, bad gearing, manual decompression, would overheat and not start. It was a brute.
Hello my friend. A big 450 is a decent desert bikes. In fact, depending on the desert terrain and the openness, I prefer a 450xcw type bike. But you are right, the right tool for the terrain is important. We ride desert, but technical single track with lots of elevation changes, and I far prefer my Husky TE300. There is no beating a 200-300cc two stroke from Yamaha, KTM/Husky/Gas Gas, Sherco and Beta for that type of riding. Nice review. Thank you.
My riding buddy just got the 300 XCW, blue plated as well. I'm 150 lbs after a good shit so I thought the 150 might suit me, but just seems to scream too much. Also you don't have to work a bigger motor as hard so I would think you could get more miles out of that little piston. Did Paul try your bike out?
We ya both ride it. He has a 125 Yamaha. Handles it better then I could. And he said hoping on the 250xcw was like a cheat code. But ideally I thought I wanted a 150 as well but I opted for the 250, cuz if I needed that extra power or future if I travel to a place with hill climbs I might need it
@user-vr6tl7tv3i yea, ask for the Nivis form when you buy it. Tell the dealer to not register it. If it's already been green plated your too late. Then just play dumb at the ministry when you get your plate. And have road legal insurance
Maann, watching this video makes me wanna sell my 2018 450 SX-F. I ride out in the desert so its pretty open but I'm not used to a track bike at all. I was on a WR 250F before and you could lug that thing around. I hate the fact you have to constantly clutch with the SFX when you brake or you stall the bike. Makes it really hard to ride tide stuff out there or if people stop in front of you and you don't clutch fast enough you're screwed lol! You definitely can't lug around a track bike and I'm not a track rider either lol! How's the suspension on that thing?
Suspension is very soft and plush. And it’s not noticeable it eats up bumps as if they weren’t there. I love it. And yea I know the 4stroke power band is hard to manage sometimes
I have been riding a yz250 that I turned into a woods bike, this bike seems way easier to ride than mine. Mine is too snappy even with the flywheel weight and g2 throttle.
@jetdr try the apex head with the xc dome. Also look into the governor mod. I rode a friends yz with those mods and it was butter. In fact I went and sold my ktm 250f and bought a 23 yz250x shortly after riding his. I have the fww in mine, gov mod soon. If I still want less hit and more bottom I’ll order the apex head.
I just bought mine coming from a four stroke guy all I've ever had it's so weird to ride a two stroke thinking I'm going to blow it up from high rpms 😂 then I realize I'm riding a two stroke idk I'm still scared of fucking it up just wish I could already be use to how to ride a two stroke

is KTM 250 XC-W actually better than KTM 300 XC-W? I heard 300 feels more heavy even they are very much the same weight.
Your modesty is refreshing. I'm still amazed at my 2021 250. I had looked for the 300 back then but it was a unicorn

How is the power when you wanna go fast

Congrats. Great bike
300 XC-W is the way to go.
300 XC TBI is the way to go. The 2024 is going back to spring forks 👍

silly question im sure, but are these really blue platable? 100% street legal and not one those "trick the service ontario clerk" kind of situations?

@@Rideoflyfe Thanks, ill keep that in mind. what a loophole lol

The 2017 and 2018 ktm 450 are the best bikes ever made.

Yessir I know what u mean. I started on a cr250 then went to a cr125. They have an ultimate flaw they are designed for mx-track riding. Not the woods.

You'll get used to it and most likely enjoy it more than the 4stroke
I’m thinking about the Honda crf250F
I’m not hot doggie it, I’m a sit down rider just like putzing thru the woods
Funny anuff... I'm watching this video on looking to buy a new ktm.. and I'm going to look at 1 in London UK... lol...🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
would this bike be good for a beginner? comming from downhill mtb
Ya for sure. It's very user friendly, and you'll pick it up quickly with your mtb experience
@@Rideoflyfe thank you. picking one up Saturday
That metal license plate is a hazard.
I agree.
Cbr🤷🤷
She's getting painted next week. Video coming out within a month. 👊
