Johnny Cash is my all time favourite, to the point of having him tattooed on my arm! This cover blew me away! It's SUCH a hard song to do and you've pulled it off amazingly. I haven't actually listened to nine inch nails original but this is beautiful! x

Most artists hopefully don't want to "be" like any other artist. That's why I like this cover so much, because her approach is to the song is quite a bit different from Johnny Cash's. I think Johnny Cash preserved this song's justice since the day it was originally recorded til now.

It's a song about heroin use, self-mutilation, and loss... But you sound, well not happy but not "ready to slit your wrists sad". It's got to come from your soul and that soul has got to KNOW that it is broken rather than just being a broken soul. There is were you can find inspiration for this song.

A little unfair don't you think? The reason Cash version is so much better is because the long tragic filled live he lived. The emotion he puts in is 100% genuine. Seeing as he struggled with drugs all his career and slowly throughout it his loved ones either gave up on him or passed on. Even the original writer of the song saw his video and version. He was just like " oh Damn that's intense".
That's WHY Cash's version hits me... It's pure; not just singing words*

well a composer by definition puts together the music. not only did he compose it, but he played the song for 8 years, around the world, sold millions of records with this track on it and then it wasn't till 2002 that Rick Rubin composed a different version that he had Johnny Cash perform.
I love both versions, but seriously, Trent Reznor, wrote, produced, recorded, played, and toured this song all over the country 18 years ago...give the guy some credit.

It's pretty annoying how everyone keeps saying that she doesn't have the pain or feeling for the song, well no shit she's young, the only people with that kinda experience are the older, more wise unless hardships hit early, not everyone's had a painful past... I think women should cover more of these dark (country version sometimes) songs. I think it helps with the emotional aspect. Not to say that guys don't or can't do it, just feels darker in my opinion. Great job Kiahan!
