My folks were on a religious kick around that time. My mom said watching TV was a sin because it was a waste of time, so I justified watching this show by telling her it was a way of learning history.
My goodness... I cant stop watching these intro shows of every year....but what a nice way to binge watch on a lazy Saturday... and remember your childhood😊
When I was 8 years old I watched Charlie's Angel's. They weren't just pretty faces, the show was actually pretty good. I also loved Alice. Quincy is the only show I feel holds up to this day. I used to watch re-runs in the 80's.
Wow, thank you for this! I can't believe that I actually remember most of these; a few flew under the radar, but most of them left trace memories. I remember really loving "The Tony Randall Show" and being sorry when it was cancelled.
It was a rare ABC Sitcom that didn't insult your intelligence. Sadly, when CBS took it to Saturday night, it was killed off by ABC's "junk food" cop show Starsky & Hutch.
And I wonder about the actors. I'm sure they thought they had their big break when they were cast in a series. But I've never heard of a lot of them. I wonder how much other stuff they did.
And think about how difficult it is just to get a show on the air, Then most of them vanish without a trace. The memorable shows are a small percentage of a small percentage.
I was 18 and my had first job that fall, working nights. That’s why I don’t remember a lot of these. I finally got out of the house, and home vcrs were not quite a thing yet.
Wow...Only "Alice", "Charlie's Angels", and Quincy M.D." seems too be the biggest hits that stayed for a while than the other ones on the television season of that year it seems like when seeing this full clips of intros of them.
"Spencer's Pilots" is one of the many dramas that appeared at the 8pm slot in the 28-year gap between the cancellation of "Gunsmoke" and the debut of "NCIS". It aired for one season in 1976 and it failed to compete against "Sanford & Son" and "Donny & Marie".
I got to see Bernadette Peters, that made my day. Had a crush on her as a 14 year old, still do 45+ years later. Dick Van Dyke and Nancy Walker just couldn't make it and Alice ran for 8 or 9 years. Vic Tayback seemed like such a nice guy, died way to early. Ball Four had like 12 people on the intro. That spelled trouble. And a Ted Lange sighting a year before Love Boat. Oh and Charlie's Angel, my favorite episode, Angels in Chains, Judd Hirsch 2 years before Taxi. And wanted to be a M.E. like Quincy, the great Jack Klugman.
I agree with you for the most part. Network TV had to cast a pretty wide "net" and appeal to a large segment of the TV viewing population. So a lot of shows had to be watered down
She was tall and looked a bit exotic or "half-something". Probably would be the most hyped of the 3 if the show ran today, as would Janet on 3s company instead of Chrissy
I love the mini-series drawn from novels that were prevalent at this time extending into the 1980's. *Captains & the Kings* was one of the best and had the advantage of accurately portraying basically who controls our economic and political system. The Rockefellers at the time took the lead in pushing a one-world government with a Globalist economy. We see this movement continuing to this day, pretty much out in the open. David Rockefeller admitted in his 2002 autobiography that he was pushing just this one-world agenda.
@@evelk5233 No there is not a one world regime that governs all people. There are various nations with no one-world government or other institution overseeing all people on earth. Such a one-world regime that brings all of the people on earth together would be tyrannical and obliterate the natural affinities and loyalties of the distinct peoples of the world.
The book goes into it even further, but the mini-series is very bold about that subject, just as you say. It has a lot of other things going for it too. "Best Sellers" also has "Once An Eagle," a very good story. I always wonder how many Sam Elliott fans don't even know it exists.

I had no idea that Jim Bouton, the baseball player and author of the controversial "Ball Four" had been an actor too. He was even in a Robert Altman film. The intro appears to show the players doing something they called "beaver hunting". If you don't know, read the book!

The original made-for-tv movie on which _Delvecchio_ was based, _Hittin’ Shopping Carts & Trippin’ Dudes,_ was a riot. Loved it.
Cashing in on the bionic craze, as a kid I watched Holmes & Yoyo. Totally forgot about it until now. Thanks
Loved Black Sheep when I was a kid. I was glued to the TV when that was on.

I remember the syndicated version better (_Black Sheep Squadron_)
