I've watched literally hundreds of TV commercial compilations on RUclips alone, not to mention on DVD and the like and not only do these look pretty good, but most of these have never been posted on RUclips or anywhere I know of before. Hope you find more!
A commercial (Folgers) with a stay-at-home Mom. Ahh, the memories.
Do you know why Mom's stayed at home in those days?
They did NOT know any better, nor any different (for milenia actually ) then. IT was the culture worldwide 😐🤐
@@jimmyohara2601
That's not necessarily so. There are some tribes in other countries where the FATHERS stay at home and take care of the kids and the mothers go out to work.
@@robertbeda959families could afford it.
@@robertbeda959 because they WERE moms, they had to raise the kids.
Thanks for the compilation! I was 9 in ‘76 when most of these came out, and remembered many.
One of the best RUclips channels!! Great content!
Amazing how many things they DON'T advertise for now.
The Sickle Cell Anemia ad narrator sounded like the late Sidney Poitier.
One of the best compilations ive watched! Top quality as always. Thank you for your work. How do you acquire tapes for the channel?
Familiar voiceovers featured: Peter Thomas speaks for Listerine. Hal Douglas speaks for Hertz. John Irwin is the voice of Morris the Cat.
Fred Collins speaks for Folger's coffee. Len Gochman shills Visine.
I remember the one for C&H sugar. Infact, thats what's in my tea I am drinking now.
28.51 Dr Pepper ad has Joe Connelly, the guy who played Ike on The Waltons
Betty Crocker Snakin' Cake? The Ariel Winter of the 1970's.
14:00 Morris the cat like 9 Lives
Sam on the Listerine commercial. Loved him on Law & Order.
Superb collection. Having worked in television, I'm guessing this reel of commercials were a batch that were deemed 'damaged'. Back in the day we had to keep the damaged spots and add them to a reel to return them (eventually) to there agencies to receive new copies etc. You'll notice each of these have an issue - splices, used to death, faded print, clipped top & tails, just worn out. Just some info for you...!
It's possible what you say is true. These commercials came to us via a collector in the San Francisco Bay Area who used to show them as part of his movie nights. So, they got quite a bit of wear! Thanks for your comment. Please subscribe or support us on Patreon.com/Periscopefilm
Farewell Barney and friends.
And that Maytag dishwasher is still going strong
Some of these I remember from when I was a kid. The Sunshine Boys came out in '74. 15:23 Most people know the Nature Valley granola bars but the granola came first!
I think I recognized a couple of famous actors in the ads, but I forgot their names.
20:10 Anna Maria Alberghetti. The announcer (or maybe she herself) usually said her name at the beginning of these spots.
Wow, indeed, a lovely lady and the most divine singing voice.
My wife loves these bagged salad toppings, I didn't realise they were a new thing in the 70s. And "crispy bits that taste like bacon" = not bacon!
17:27 - 8 digits!? Well, that’s got to be the limit as far as computer technology can go. It’ll never be more powerful than that.
Flair pens don't "let the real you show" half as well as a fountain pen does. Especially one with a flexible nib.
Heinz Barbecue Sauce? With meat tenderiser?
In the description of this video, there's a reference to a TV trailer for "Butch Cassidy And The Sunshine Kid," yet several lines down, the CORRECT TITLE of the movie is given: "Butch Cassidy And The SUNDANCE Kid."
Why didn't they list the right title in the first place?
Yeah, kinda ruins the entire video, doesn't it? Unless of course you were just waiting to find something to criticize, in which case your purpose is served.
I have been trying to get a decent copy of the "Get Up And Go With Cheerios" jingle for more than 40 years. You have it here in this compilation and it's CUT and EDITED! WTF! Do you have an uncut version of this commercial?
We do not sorry
Yuban folgers hills brothers sanka tasters choice coffee in the 70s lot of coffee drinkers
It was called variety and choice. There were a lot of coffee drinkers, but now there's a lot of Starbucks drinkers. I'm not sure what Starbucks is, but it sure isn't coffee🤢
All the brands mentioned are still available today.
24:43 Everybody knows that nobody can spot a spot like a Swedish mother-in-law...
@ 29:00 - Mary Wickes is the woman in the middle.
10:58 - Animation by Rick Reinert.
0:40 and 29:40 William Schallert
1:58 John Erwin // 8:24 Ken Nordine
26:50 W.B. Brydon
Yes folks, the 70s were truly that lame. Thanks to progress, we now have a completely different lame.
Lame? 10 vitamins plus iron is not lame.. a new Betty Crocker snack cake? That’s exciting…and a barbecue at the super market? Well if that’s lame…I’m a Maytag repairman clapping to Hormel Chili music.
