He wants to master his craft. Most musicians are afflicted with that. You want to serve the music. It's the artists struggle.

He’s an aspiring vocal coach that’s why his technics are flawless. Do listen to his newly released debut mini album. One of my fav is ‘love words’.
I would love Sam to hear Love Words, omg :(. And yes you are correct! Chen originally wanted to enroll in a music school. When he didn't get into the program he wanted, his vocal teacher encouraged him to audition for SM. Within months, he debuted in Exo. Crazy where life can take a person.

And on the recent reality show, Chan Yeol gave a prediction in 10 years,he said ‘may Chen have 4000 students’....Chen nodded with a smile. I believe it’s his dream and I hope it does come true.

I understand what you mean by saying he's in character, which I agree with but at the same time it's so Chen. He constantly closes his eyes and feels the music and the emotions when he's performing or even just listening to music.

That's the thing about Chen. It doesn't matter if you know the language he's singing in. He sings with so much emotion, you can't help but feel the same emotion he's expressing through his song.

I love how the story of the music/lyrics follow a similar journey as the vocal technique. It happens in ballads all the time but I never paid attention from a vocal technique perspective of "prepping" and placing your voice.
So now I see it on both fronts. What the character is doing and the singer.
The first chorus, soft with less emotional intensity....like the character is feeling a little unnerved by the vulnerability but also the singer getting the feel of the song. Then with the second chorus the "soul bearing" is in full swing for the character (the aching of the love song) and the singer is also ready to tackle those notes.
