The difference between 1st and 2nd is .45 points more than the difference between 2nd and 10th. And .45 points is a significant difference in gymnastics on its own. Simone is amazing!

I laughed when the commentators thought Riley's bars routine had the highest score, and couldn't remember that Simone already had a higher score earlier in the competition. Guess that's what happens when you're not used to someone taking the top spot in an event where they generally don't even medal in.
LOL. Simone won't get this same e score at world's on bars. She probably won't even finish on the podium ,especially with Nina Darwael, the Chinese, and the Russians having better release skills and better lines than Simone.

Is any one else only watching Simones's routines besides me?
I love that the NBC broadcast is uploaded so quickly now. In the past it got uploaded like months later which was really frustrating.
But one thing I didn't like, this is a women's sport; why is there still a man announcer in the stadium and two out of three of the commentators are men, with the only female commentator barely talking? Seems unbalanced to me.
It would be pretty cool to have 3 previous major female gymnasts as commentators!

Ragan just looks so burned out and disconnected from her routines here. Hope she can take some time to heal and get healthy again.
MissLilRedRooster She does! Just the stress in the sport can take a toll..but add an injury to the equation and man! These young ladies put so much on their bodies and minds to be perfect. Ragan is a damn good gymnast and I hope that she gets the proper rest and recuperation she needs, because if she keeps forcing herself to perform, that injury is going to get worse than ever and it will take longer to heal. She needs to rest and let that leg heal.

She did pretty good all things considered.
I’m concerned for additional injuries. A lot of her landings looked to me like she was landing with the bulk of her weight on her good leg. If that continues it’s going to buckle ☹️
I want her to heal first. But you can tell she doesn’t want to lose the momentum she had. But she could end up like Rebecca Bross with all those injuries if she’s competing when she’s not ready yet. Sometimes your body isn’t as ready as your mentality.

I was really impressed with Grace McCallum! She’s 15 at her first senior us gymnastics championships and she came in fourth, nearly third place! She should definitely be considered for the next olympics! I’m British so I don’t know why I’m so obsessed with american gymnastics?!😂

Hahah, I'm American but understand that feeling. It's so fun to watch foreign gymnastics groups and pick out favorite gymnasts or ones you'd like to see go farther or see a different style of gymnastics that you usually do.
Watching Simone’s floor routine is always awesome! Even before they mentioned it I thought, wow literally every single person in that arena is watching Simone and it’s like they had everyone stop what they were doing to watch the Queen freaking kill it!! So much love for you Simone and it’s so nice to see you back competing and making everyone in awe of your talent!! ❤️❤️

Yep. Simone's vaults are great but I still think McKayla was a little better. Her long lines were beautiful.
Biles is a better vaulter overall, but Maroney had the best Amanar of all time.

I love all the athletes; they really all did a nice job. You know, when they said sometimes you just wanna start over; I played piano for years; had to stop because I hurt my shoulder in a car accident. For about three years, I would start over; but then I made myself play all the way through. It was one of the hardest things I ever did. Now, I'm not comparing piano to gymnastics, but it IS hard to MAKE yourself not start over after a mistake

It's because she's experienced firsthand how challenging it is, so every time she watches another female gymnast do it, it's as if she's reliving those moments.

I swear she says that every time she's an announcer lol, I agree with her though I dont think its a very pretty skill
@@D2theFG it could be elegant and powerful (maybe not pretty) if they were better at it. everyone here flails their way through it and fights to avoid falling out of it rather than being properly balanced/centered so that looks like a respectable turn.

joyfuljaj I don't recall a similar fall from Nastia. The only major beam error I remember is the epic save during her acro series at the 2006 (Visa) National Championship. Is this what you're referring to, or did Nastia have a fall off the beam that I am forgetting? I don't think they replayed Nastia's beam mistake over and over again though. NBC did the same thing to Amy Chow (as to Riley) after the 1996 Olympic Trials in which Chow hit her head on the beam during a fall.

I hate that they show that, I cringe every time. Not so much a fall but a similar mistake I recall with Nastia at the 2007 world championships in the team final. ruclips.net/video/G_yQISznmC4/видео.html I imagine its frightening to recall having done something even remotely similar like that. Her foot slipped off the beam and it could have been terrible.
I don't mind that they show the fall. Spectators sometimes minimize how dangerous a sport gymnastics is.

It is amazing how Simone is already way ahead of her competitors and yet she still has more room for improvement and upgrade. My Worlds team would be Simone, Jade, Morgan, Riley and Kara. I really want Kara to be on that team, she is so elegant especially on floor.

I still to this day think Shawn Johnson was the best I'd ever seen on beam☺️ Everyone else is good too but she had such a hard pass which was the handspring handspring back layout, tumbling the whole length of the beam.

I feel like I'm watching Simone from 2013. A diamond that's a bit rough around the edges and needs a lil work before it shines bright and dazzles us. Same but mostly only on floor and bars. It's absurd all her landing issues on floor are just because she has too much power lol. She will have it together by worlds probably, or definitely for next year at most.
Young Contrarian I like seeing her not be perfect. Honestly I love Simone but I wish it would be a fair fight still. Jade Carey and Morgan Hurd are the only people who are capable of getting anywhere near her in difficulty as of now.

Thank you, because in reality anything could happen on competition day. Anyone could have fallen off the beam, the bars, gone out of bounds on the floor, never assume anything. Look at what happened to Jordyn Weiber in London, I don't like the commentary on Ragan, they're just living in the past.
Well he's not entirely wrong. Raegan was def the stronger gymnast of the two and was more favored to win. On the other hand Mai Murakami did qualify in first so she could have beaten both of them but I do agree with u that he shouldn't take away from her win. In this sport anything can happen on competition day.

Um am I the only one that realizes how Jade was totally underscored and is underrated ? Her beam was clean , fluid and strong. Form very well executed. And her floor was so powerful , a few landings were a tiny bit shaky but again her difficulty is a lot higher than most except Simone of course. I think she shows poise and confidence in a calm understated way. She’s not even peaking yet . Hope she stays on this great path.
IDK about floor because I noticed Jade's double turn did not get right round, and her split jumps and leaps are not 180 degrees. Also her tumbling technique is not perfect. For example, very few of these girls besides Simone actually do back handsprings with straight knees and legs tight together. But, I agree with you regarding beam. Jade was low balled on her beam score compared to other girls.

Same old NBC..only showing 5 or 6 gymnasts. How many girls could we have seen during the extra 20 minutes replaying routines? They work just as hard and deserve to be seen!!!
USA Gym's RUclips channel has every routine by every single gymnast performed at the last 2 events, posted. The international feed has no commentary or fluff. Go click on those. NBC, however, is in the business of making money. This broadcast is not charity work for them. They are trying to sell commercial advertising with this and all of their programs. With USAG having lost all their corporate sponsors due to their negligence, they need Simone (the 4 time olympic gold medalist and a 5 time national champion) to boost ratings and keep gymnastics popular. If 'Jane the gymnast' could sell, they'd be the ones on the posters and you'd see it in the coverage. Now, I am a die hard gymnastics fan who scours RUclips looking for the most obscure meets and World Cup events where I will watch gymnasts perform routines that receive 12's while listening to commentary in languages I don't understand. But, NBC can't make money off of me and you. They need the majority of viewers who know nothing about gymnastics and only watch the olympics, to watch a few more of these annual competitions. That means showing Simone, re-playing her routines and constantly talking about her. In the long run, gymnastics fans will win if Simone can sell our sport to a larger audience. Perhaps we will eventually get more coverage of obscure gymnasts.

T. Daggett is very knowledgeable and I appreciate the expertise he has but he needs to stop telling the same stories or comments every broadcast. We know, we know.
I understand it gets a little tiring when he talks about the same things over and over, but I think he just keeps in mind that there may be lots of new viewers or just casuals who don't follow the sport as closely as the fans do.
Ragan should have had the surgery. She was SO amazing in 2017, and I think healthy she contends easily for an all around medal but that injury didn't do her any favors. I'm really hoping she comes back strong in 2019. I love her.

Kimberly Nielson yep. After 1st event (vault), she was done. No fight at all. Dont get me wrong, i was thrilled for Gabby; komova really did give up though.

Elbow -ing I agree. But exactly how on earth did Komova give up on her beautiful bars ? Her shaky but ok BB, and her marvelous FX routine? Didn't give up till EF. To the rest, quit trying to bring false delusional pasts to make Simone seem good. Simone is dominant because of her power and difficulty, but really anyone can work hard, REALLY HARD for that. But few can be aesthetically pleasing, powerful ,and interesting.
Despite her struggles on the event in this competition, I actually love Ragan's choreography!! it's so cute, wishing her all the best with recovery 💛
also obsessed with Jade's tumbling, does anyone know is she differing university, retire elite or going to train both elite and NCAA?
She was really good, but I still don’t see- to this day- how she ended up being the traveling alternate for those worlds. She was so inconsistent here, both days and proved that ankle was a major hindrance. She would not have filled a gap well on that world team.
