It was the other way around for me. I visited the museum because I’m into trains. Later, I watched some Hyce videos where he mentioned the museum, and I said “hey, I’ve been there!”
Clearly, this new land is for the ES&D addition. But really, congrats to CRRM. Been hearing tons for great things all across the preservation world from ships to natural lands to trains, and I'm totally here for it.
I suspect someone at the TV station monitoring the chat and the statistics is a bit confused by what they're looking at here... Hyce? ES&DT? Why are viewership stats for this so odd? 22k views about a heritage railway? The YT algorithm works in mysterious ways, but actually it's because we watch a boat load of Hyce talking about trains at this museum.
I was there once a little over a decade ago. I really appreciated this museum, especially the ability to walk up to the Northerns. Glad to see it grow.
@@Hyce777 omg thank you! Also have you seen the new shunter in derail valley? Looking forward to the video on that lol. As an aside, thank you so much for all your videos and knowledge you share with everyone. They bring a lot of joy to my day personally as well. Trains were a big part of my life growing up by the old Chicago Railyards and the Amtrak stations. And im a Thomas kid lol. It's made my day getting a reply for you. Thank you so much
I love how the top four comments (at time I am leaving this comment) are all people talking about the RUclipsr Hyce who frequently mentions the Colorado Railroad Museum and has recorded several awesome videos there.
Time to buy an entire right of way as well. It would be nice to see those trains up and running again If RTD Orange Line can extend all the way to the Railroad Museum and west to Golden, that would be great too.
Bob had moved back to Ohio by the time I started at the Museum in 2002 but I did get to interact and work with him over the phone a few times before he passed. I think he'd be impressed with how the Museum has grown.
Lol I bet the popularity came from Hyce as many other comments have pointed out haha I've been there before but that was around 10 years ago I think! Been looking to come again next time I make it back to the area since watching Hyce's videos lol
Maybe I’m trippin, but if you ask me, Hyce and friends have the potential to do a lot more for railroading than just improve attendance and recognition of one railroad museum. I’m just sayin’. Keep on buying those neighboring lands. Keep extending your mainline. Maybe one day you’ll be picking up your visitors in downtown Denver and bringing them back. Then maybe one day you’ll be picking up your visitors in Ft. Collins, Making a stop to pick up more in Denver, and brining them back. And then maybe some folks in Ft. Collins decide it’d a nicer and more enjoyable way to make their daytrip to Denver if they just got on your train and hopped off during the Denver stop. Maybe on the way back to Ft. Collins, some people in Denver swap in with those who got back off in Denver so they can catch the ride to Ft. Collins… Then y’all start charging half the cost of the gas it would take to drive the route in a car, and feed the revenue back into more locomotive restorations, more mainline extensions, acquiring more vintage hardware…….. Who knows what’s possible?
We have been named one of the top-ten paid attractions in the Denver Metro Area in an exit survey of visitors departing from DIA in something like 13 of the last 15 years!
Mr Mark huber hyce is the sole reason this museum is doing so well I guess it was just in his blood being the grandson of the huber steam tractor company founder
Mark has brought a lot of internet attention to the Museum but this success is due in no small part to the hard work of the entire crew (staff & volunteers) over the last 20+ years.
My personal opinion is it would be smarter to invest in a larger property farther out from the major population center. The National forests or parks sometimes will allow historical working museums to open within thier borders. It stops encroachment from residential neighborhoods and brings visitors to the parks, plus lots of land.
we love our homebase in Golden and hope to see it expand further....that said, we have been invited to open and operate satellite facilities in other counties in the past.......we are planning on moving the collection facilities off-site and I won't be surprised some day if we have more than one location with rides available.
"Our parking lot dictates the capacity of every event that we operate." For a railroad museum that's depressing. I'm thinking of Südbahnmuseum Mürzzuschlag which is right next to a station with hourly railjet/EuroCity/InterCity plus some nightjet trains. (Some of the other austrian museums aren't as conveniently located but at least they're more or less in walking distance from a regularly served railway station.)
The Museum is developing property (to the south) that they have owned for decades to expand parking. From there, with increased capacity, they hope to eventually build a new welcome center on the existing parking lot. No current plans to develop the newly bought land at this time.......long-term, who knows what the future will hold. They have owned (and rented) an additional neighboring property for almost a decade.

Oh right, Hyce!
same xD
That attendance record break last year was definitely due to Hyce
that is one truly special thing about the digital age, people like hyce are breathing new life into preservation
Ya

Hmmmm......We do get a lot of @hyce777 fans each day! I blame @akaBOG though.
I will admit I spent the whole report watching for Hyce and company.
same!
I can't wait for the ES&DT exhibit
Lol
Now that would be awesome
Why does that sound like something that might happen? Maybe in a boxcar or caboose.
The lime vending machine will be a hit!

I was hoping to see a wild Hyce in his natural habitat.
I surprise that’s there was no limes being thrown in the back ground.
I wasn't there
Honestly, same here!
I’m sure Hyce is excited about this
Hyce is the reason why the place is so popular he is free advertising
I'm sure he's happy about that though. He has a goal of bringing interest of railroad history to more people, and that's exactly what he's doing.
@Hyce777's success has helped accelerate the Museum's growing popularity.....but we've been on this path for a longtime....
Hyce must be completely stoked to see the Museum getting an expansion, I know I am.

Back in 2017, my family and I traveled from Virginia to tour around Colorado. This was our first stop of the 1.5 week long trip. Great place to visit!
You forgot CRRM's other attraction: Hyce!
thanks for visiting!
I was there once a little over a decade ago. I really appreciated this museum, especially the ability to walk up to the Northerns. Glad to see it grow.
when our founders started the Museum one of their desires was to see the equipment displayed "a natural setting."
Hyce / Mark - Fantastic! 🎉👍
Ive loved the rail road musem since i was little and I enjoy it to this day and im excited to see what they do
More land for Hyce to build and run the Montezuma in the future!
How much do you think we need to donate to get ES&D painted on something in the museum
that really needs to be a thing
As much as I'd die laughing at that happening, it's not really a fit with the museums' true mission. Perhaps a model if I can sneak it in.... Lol!
Maybe on a visiting auto?
@@Hyce777 Correct but... a little easter egg for those in the know would be great. Also HELLO BIRD.

This is why i love trains. There’s always something good and happy to be found there

I wouldn't have visited when I was in town if it weren't for Hyce
I was here at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden, Colorado back in July 2016 and July 2022.
Man I can't wait to- and I've been beaten to the punch about Hyce.
Looks like Hyce is gonna have a good day today
Me: isn’t that the museum Hyce works at?
Looks at comments, my people!
Nice to see the musuem thriving. Last time I was there was in the summer of 2007
Time to buy an entire right of way as well. It would be nice to see those trains up and running again
If RTD Orange Line can extend all the way to the Railroad Museum and west to Golden, that would be great too.
RTD? What a disorganized mess. Unless you want to ride from the airport to downtown.
Hmm, wonder what Hyce is gonna be up to...
I wonder if Hyce had anything to do with it being so popular recently, love him!
I was one of those visitors of 2023 (over from the UK!). I loved my visit and personal "access all areas" guided tour. Great people there!
It’s been amazing seeing how this museum has transformed these last couple years 🥲
We're gonna need a bigger rail yard!
Definitely because of Hyce!!
