This was so well done: I've always been fascinated by the story of the K-37's journey from Standard Gauge Consolidations to 3-Foot Gauge Mikados. It's nice to see the tale summarized like this.
Splendid documentary ! It shows well how an enterprise grows, how problems were solved in the past and what an history indeed! Many greetings from Belgium. A train aficionado.
Thank you for the guided tour of the history of the Rio Grande Railroad. It's nice that the great steam locomotive K37 No. 491 has been refurbished to be operational again.
It would be amazing if C&TS could get one of the other K-37s running, since Cumbres Pass is practically their home turf. I still say 491 should go back for a charter some day, although I admit I say this knowing nothing of the cost or practicality.
How long ago was the black hawk branch abandoned? When I went there in 2021 I was amazed by the mixture of super historical narrow and standard gauge all within an hour driving bubble. I’ve been to Colorado many times and the last two winters drove there from the lone star state. Narrow gauge has grown on me since I went from modeling late 1900’s bn and Sf diesel to coastal south tx 1910-1935 small steam. Only narrow gauge lines we had that I know of are the piney wood narrow gauge lines which ran some of the latest steam runs, from my understanding all the way up to the 70’s.
Hi from Green Bay Wisconsin , TITLE-TOWN U.S.A , GO PACKERS!!!!! LOL 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆!!!!! HI IN APRIL 2023A.D.!!!!! ALL ABOARD !! HIGHBALL !!-! Hopefully, we can get the live steamer of 491, for 7&1/2" gage track, for 2&1/2" scale, see some others here on YT, OK 👍 👌.!!

So that's why Hyce always says "When 491 is working hard she chuffs A-la-mo-sa"...
What a wonderful presentation! You’ve done a great job preserving this part of our country’s history. I look forward to riding this train one day.

The K 37 is the largest narrow gauge steam engine, for standard gauge it was the L 131 class 2-8-8-2
I mean no disrespect, but yall seriously need to put Mark as your talent in your videos. that dude has serious energy
Excellent video, as always! Could we get a Big Trains Tour on the West Side Lumber Shay that’s on the property next? I’d love to hear about that!
I'll pass the request up the chain! Next episode is on Goose 2 and includes some hard-to-find photos.....
While we do not own the Shays, a Tour would be fun.....Next episode is D&RGW No. 3011.
Let's go!
0:043 - Hang on now...can the Thomas' sent around the country run on narrow AND standard gauge track, or is this dual gauge track?
