I was able to use my S50 last night. I went with the S5” over my WO GT71 with the zwo AM3 mount, only because I only was able to get a 5 minute break in the cloud.
Eh.. once I spruced it up a little the HA really came out! For only 3 minutes, I was impressed! I’ve got 3 hours after the sun goes down, so I’m about to head back out
I myself don't use the tripod that came with my SeeStar, I actually use the tripod that came with my iOptron Skyguider and a 3 point leveler. I don't like having to get on the ground to do stuff like leveling or PA
First, I will assume that from the factory the Seestar app will be correct for levelling. If you re-calibrate it, then any error will still be there, but you won't see it, do it too often and you could get yourself in all sorts of trouble. I have the Seestar, and even at a 0.4 on the levelling at 30 seconds, I don't get elongated stars.
You need to do all the calibration steps required in the app at least after unboxing . If the first time it was not on a perfect flat surface that will introduce some errors and redoing that step eliminated the trails i had before
@@GalaxyArtMedia After what you said I took my seestar to work. In our QC lab we have a perfectly level test bench. (it even gets calibrated every now and again) Perhaps mine is the exception, but when I set it on its tripod, it came up with a 0.1 error.
What was the temperature outside? I saw the operating range is 0 - 40c and heard there was Bluetooth issues with cold temps. You’re wearing a jacket making it look like it was cold outside. If I can’t use the Seestar with temps in the teens and twenties “f” it won’t do me any good if I can’t use the Seestar in the winter.
Not sure of the temperature that night but i used it a few times below 0 degrees and no problems. When getting very cold make sure the dewheater is on and it helps also to have it charging outside
One question tough, when i photograph the orion nebula it appears to be blue violet but with my dedicated Astrophotography camera I've got a similar result in color and detail. So is this the correct colour ?
Hello. Correct is very subjective and depending on the camera, filter and light pollution. Usually the emissions nebula is more visible with asteo cameras and with dual and filters. In post processing color can be adjusted more and reveal also some of the blues and greens that are fainter without processing
